Casino Royale: The Triumph of EON

Post by stockslivevan »

Remember the good old days of every media spot trashing EON's choice of Daniel Craig? Do you remember the days where fans argued over whether Craig drives a stick shift or not? Remember the days when Bond_Fan publicly made videos of himself "acting" as James Bond and tried to show how he was much superior compared to Craig before the film was released? Do you remember when CNN covered the whole negativity on Craig as Bond (including showing DCINB.com)?

Of course you remember.

Remember after CR was released, CNN publicly and literally proudly ate a piece of paper that had the writing "Craig is not Bond" and in the end said "Sorry we were so hard on you Daniel"?

I love a good redemption story. 8)

Me too. It was also interesting to see the change on Bond forums too. AJB, for instance, was full of Craig hate at one point, then once the film was released, many members conceded they were wrong about him. The others that tried to keep the momentum ended up bored and leaving, or were banned for going too far with their abusive and ridiculous comments, once they suddenly slipped in to the minority.

Even on CBn, the likes of CM007 and Gravity Sillouette, 2 massive Craig-doubters did a U-turn too.

The small Craig hate community have all ended up one here - which suprises me as I honestly thought there would be a lot more fans opposing him on the internet, as we were led to believe by the original CnB boycott campaign. As it turns out, there isn't that many after all.

Triumph of Eon ... is that like the British sporty car? It has its fans, but also its detractors. Appealing to the masses, but a few die hards would prefer an Austin, or maybe a Lancia Flaminia Zagato Spyder 8)

Alternate universe Bond -- that's a good way to put it. Some Bond fans prefer the more traditional Bond who resembles (more) the Bond of Fleming and the films; while the others don't, while they also insist that their Bond is the 007 of the books and films.

Simple hint -- if one can't tell a SAS Army Captain from a Royal Navy Commander, it's no use putting it on the front page :?

If one insists that the Army background of Bond is the same as the 'old' Navy pre-existence .................. :?:
You move very well for a dead man, Mr Bond

Good one, like it.
Yes this is the only place where the masses come to spout there displeasure of the current Bond.
Out of the top say twenty posters that post on a regular basis four are supporters of Craig.
Always brings a smile to my face that one. :D
And after nearly two years in the role, the same viewpoints are used as an argument against Craig.
The height, the looks and the hair.

It's weird how the height, hair and looks issue is relevant. Might have something to do with the fact Craig is still blonde, ugly and a midget.

Its a great shame, that people didn't wait to see the film before
commenting on Craig.
Personally i think the guy must of been pretty tough, not only of
taking on the role and making the film, but also of being ridiculed
by the media at the same time.
Its strange then how the British tabloids did a complete u-turn on
Craig, when initially they printed a headline on their front page calling
him 'James Bland' after his intial announcement as Bond, but just prior
to the release of CR they said he was the greatest.

I think it was 'Variety' who posted an article about Craig, who said he had
managed to overcome all adversaries, and won, and won handsomely.

For the anti-craigers who post on this forum, they have their justified opinions on the film series, and to be honest i enjoy posting here whether serious or not so serious threads, as at least you can see other peoples viewpoints and at least have some sort of amusing discussion.
Its just unfortunate for them that they have to post their views on a website which has been tarnished by its less than professional conception.

I sometimes wonder if the webpage name were to change to something less blatantly hostile, whether more people would feel comfortable joining
the forums here.

This is the response I get? Only at DCINB. :P

Only DCINB.

Exactly. Who in Hollywood could tell anyone that they had CNN eat their own words live? That has to be an achievement.

I find it interesting that no one on the anti-Craig side has acknowledged it on this very thread and have only given me the usual "DCINB wit"... Or at least half of it.

He's not defeated me yet.

BTW I think your sentence is the only one where you could use the word handsome and Craig together without it sparking a Skywalker onslaught.

We all know what the current groupthink is on Craig. The whole point of this site is to give voice to those of us who aren't following the herd.

The film was a critical and Financial Success, i can not see the appeal myself but i take my hat off to the people that found the film worthy.

When i went to see it, i did think Craig was an eccentric choice but i went with it and watched the film with no preconcieved ideas , i really wanted to enjoy it and i came out and thought I just seen the death of James Bond

Funnily enough, Craig has just released a movie detailing a process very similar to the one you've just described

I don't understand. I have read lots of intellegent reviews criticising the new direction of Bond. It's not 5 people on a forum.

Royale was warmly recieved. But I did not like it. This is "Daniel Craig Is Not James Bond". Why does it annoy the creator of this thread that I did not like Daniel Craig as Bond? Is it a criminal offense? Why do you think up thread subjects that will annoy people on this forum? Answer: you are trolling.

Where on earth does it say in this thread that the creator of it is annoyed....? And why can he not think up threads that will provoke, annoy even.

Isn't that what a forum is supposed to be? Or is a forum a place to go where everyone has to agree with each other 24/7, and if anyone dare not to, then they are trolling?
