"Mendes and the producers have no reverence for Bond’s creator, and their reboot of the series also encompasses a reset of the Fleming books. All that remains is the name of the author, used only for any marketing advantage the filmmakers can get away with, although they have nothing but disregard for his work.".....I think this film will be laughed at in the theaters at times with the Blo-feld/Bond banter being so utterly ridiculous.

I can't imagine Connery giving them the time of day, to be honest.

When asked who was the first Bond villain he answered Cubby Broccoli. I think that says it all.

Connery would not show up for the Academy Awards with the other Bonds. He refused Steven Spielberg and George Lucas requests who he likes, I can not imagine he actually showed up to help EON who he actively dislikes.

If this was a real plan for the story Roger Moore is falling over himself to be useful to EON, Moore and Brosnan were out selling the 007 Blu-ray box set, while Connery again refused. Two former 007 who could be used if the Skyfall plot was different as this story says.

Very hard time believing this one, sounds like the fan gossip in 2002 with Connery coming back for DAD.

Connery refuses to promote James Bond box set for franchise's 50th Sir Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan have agreed to promote the release of a new Blu-ray DVD set, but Connery is refusing. He believes he was cheated out of millions by 007 movie executives, sources said.

I'm with you Goldeneye, no way Connery was willing to participate in anything EON, not to mention he had already retired from acting by that point!

If this was batted around at EON it was certainly at the very early stages, the drunken/stoned brainstorming sessions.

EON lackey #1 "Whoa, whoa, whoa, dudes check it out I got a hella cool idea! What if... Sean "the man" Connery like was living in an MI6 old folks home and like Danny and Judy had to like go there for help!"

EON lackey #2 "Bro! You like totes crushed it with that one!"

Not to mention if the action takes place at an MI6 retirement home rather that the Bond ancestral manse then all of Babzy's "deep" "meaningful" psycho babble that plays out through the film is lost! No word association, no parents graves, no exploring what it means to be an orphan! Plus the whole we gotta do this on our own B.S. is gone if they are running to a facility that has people living there.

"We must meet Silva on our terms, quick lets run to a retirement community and endanger the dozens of residents and staff!"

This story about Connery and Skyfall............sounds like a load of bollocks (excuse my English!) to me!

I think Connery would rather of performed DIY embalming..........than return to a Bond film. I mean he's too old, he retired from films because he was fed up with the way the studios and producers worked...........and returning to Bond, would of probably opened up some old wounds!

Returning to Spectre.....i hope the new film is not like a Skyfall pt2.........as i like the films to each have their own distinct style and feel, as the original movies did!

What I am commenting on, is Brosnan's less than classy attitude over the years, and wondering how much they can turn a blind eye to. In 1986, when he lost the role, he went and did that "Take this job and shove it" interview. 3 years later, he decides that if he can't be a part of the official series, then he will make a rival Bond film with McClory of all people. When EON came knocking in 1994, Brosnan couldn't assume the position fast enough. And when his services are no longer required in 2005, he throws the mother of all tantrums, dropping that many f-bombs, even Dan Craig would get uncomfortable.
Fair enough. Some of it I might justify however we never heard so much as a peep from Timothy, I believe he wanted to go on circumstances dictated other.

Pierce Brosnan will have his own history unique history with the franchise when the histories are complied. Publicly to win and lose the job in such short order, then finally wining the job making a few movies then losing with Barbara getting rid of him after her whole bride on honeymoon spiel. It was not just Pierce upset with their antics, however as you say it was very public tantrum. I think it must have lasted until he got a check to promote the Bond 50 set (which I had forgotten about).

Still I can't picture him conspiring with McClory, being open to a job yes, actively seeking McClory and getting tin to the weeds to make Thunderball 2: this time it's personal made I can't picture. McClory had a awful reputation even then. He might have a legal leg to stand on however it was dodgy. Actors on set felt the production (NSNA) would come to halt any day. The way people felt about Never Say Never didn't help his image. Any actor might be tempted by paying job, I can easily imagine Pierce might have felt some vindication if he could have got role any way. At the time the previous 007, Roger, stayed in the job for 12 year it was unimaginable Timothy would not be there for at least as long if he wanted, then again he was indicating License might be the final 007 instalment, if it had happened as it looked it might maybe the "rogue" series would be the official series now.

If I have to say who handled losing the role better it would have to be Timothy Dalton. Sickening to see how Barbara treats Daniel, a beloved princeling whose every whim must be indulged and the man goes out to whinge about how tough he has it every 3 years.

IF they gave Connery half the budget and a percentage of the proceeds I might credit it. ;)

The director and a hole team of talented people will add a flavour, from what I've seen, to be kind, it is awfully pretentious drivel . However maybe the director can salvage it so enough people are entertained before inevitably becoming enraged their time was wasted :) .

You may have a point about lacking distinctive feel, it was part of why I didn't mind revolving directors.

 You know what I just read? Someone commented how Craig said Spectre is 10 times better than Skyfall and how that's an "interesting comment" and then someone replied:"That means Spectre is barely an average film."

Came across several articles (they were 6mo old so you know I have my finger on the pulse of the nu-Bond world) claiming Craig and Mendes were turning down Sony's ovations to feature their phone in SP, Because it wasn't "cool enough". So I guess we're supposed to believe Danny "the golden boy" Craig is writing, producing and now even deciding what products are going to be featured in Sony's movie?

This however all clearly turned out to be B.S. though as in Oct. it was revealed in the Sony leaks they already had a mock up of the phone to be used which looked remarkably like the new xperia z5, not to mention they just announced the xperia will be in SP along with a plethora of other Sony products. My point being what was the purpose of this story since by that time there was no question as to what Bond's phone would be, to show who much power Craig has, to make the Sony product look better when it was finally announced as the next phone, "Yeah that phone wasn't cool, but this one is totally rad!"

If bond had any clue his phone would be a Samsung or iPhone. Windows phones are not too bad either but Sony crap can only appear in a movie they help finance
