Me and Mrs Skywalker plan to watch it next week.bjmdds wrote:Did Skywalker see TBU this weekend? So far, it has done $163 million in just 3 weekends in the USA and the new international markets are up considerably as well over the second film.

So Bourne is copying Bond now.bjmdds wrote:When you and the Mrs. watch it, look to see just how similar in style Craig's Bond is to Bourne, as well as the action scenes, and let me know your opinion of it.
How sad.
I like the Bourne films, but I like the Bond films better. Especially looking forward to Bond 22.
I'm sure Daniel Craig will stamp his mark on Bond again, and be praised for his great work.
When will the humble pie be served? And can myself, Stocks and The Sweeney have seconds?

Gary-7 knows his stuff. I agree, as do the 'majority' here. Craig's Bond WAS 'different', however, being different does not equate to being great in the role.Gary Seven wrote:I'm not having any. IWhen will the humble pie be served?
thought Craig was badly miscast as Bond and his wooden and dull performance in CR didn't change my mind.

Balance is what makes the Bond force here so great! Young Skywalker will attest to that! MI6 and CB.net are two sites with ONE common opinion, that Daniel Craig IS a great James Bond. This forum is the sanctuary to the opposition's views.james stock wrote:I Think bond is bourne and vice versa, i swear the way the casino was shot and the way the bournes are shot is indentical, muted colours and shaky cmaera work![]()

Yes bj, Daniel Craig is a great James Bond. Welcome to the pro-Craig group. You'll find life is greener on the other side.

Bourne may be the spy movie du jour, but unlike Bond, the formula isn't flexible enough to keep the franchise going for over 40 years. That's why Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass have both said that this will be the last Bourne film, and that any further films will be redundant.Count_Lippe wrote:Bourne is the spy movie of today.
Bond is a thing of the past.

I agree that in it's current style (which would be hard to break) it would be difficult to keep the Bourne franchise going.Kristatos wrote:Bourne may be the spy movie du jour, but unlike Bond, the formula isn't flexible enough to keep the franchise going for over 40 years. But if something is conceived as a finite series, even Hollywood sometimes lets things come to a natural end, however profitable. George Lucas has even abandoned Star Wars chapters 7-9, which would have been a huge moneyspinner, and I think it's safe to say that there won't be a Lord of the Rings 4 or Harry Potter 8.bjmdds wrote:In Hollywood, money talks. If TBU continues it's rise at the box office, look for a 4th installment of Bourne in 2010, which will coincide with the release of Bond 23.

There are examples of Hollywood pushing the boundries. Take Jaws for example. Great first film and they tried to rush through the sequal at the expense of missing out on Speilberg and Dreyfuss. The awful Jaws 3 followed and arguably the worst film ever made succeeded that one in Jaws the revenge.bjmdds wrote:Remember Kristatos, ala 1983....Never Say Never Again!
Star Trek is a franchise that has had longevity. Admittedly all the TV series have now ended, but the films continue to roll out. I'm sure there will be a future Star Trek series.
I think Bourne and HP have run their course (For totally different reasons).
