Yes, you are probably right, if that's what you define as Bondish!
Well, you've just described Sean's Bond. :?
Blood was something the producers couldn't really show back in 1962, but in Dr. No we still manage to see Bond dirty, torn and slightly bloody. In FRWL the famous fight sequence is shot very realistically, and the tie-straightening part at the end of the fight is a natural, instinctive move by Connery, not to be drawn attention to, and nothing remotely like the contrived crap seen during the Brosnan era.

In Connery's first 2 films he plays Bond serious, with very little in the way of humour (and only then added to stop 60's audiences being shocked with the rather violent action for the times).

Admittedly, by the time YOLT and DAF came around, they were more like the recent, OTT trashy Brosnan Bond's - and therefore the weakest films during the Connery era.

YOLT was a "science fiction special effects comic book" type Bond movie.

The plot was inspired by the 60s space race, nothing unusual at all in films, television, fashion, pop music etc in the late 60s.

But I think the Bond producers went a little too far, YOLT is definitely too over-the-top in many ways!

And of course you couldn't have a very serious 007 in this context.

DAF was a forerunner to the light-weight Bond of the Moore era!

Moore is often accused of introducing the less serious 007, but all this was already started by Connery in DAF!

The space race was started in 1957 when the Sovietunion launched the spacecrafts Sputnik and Sputnik 2, the latter one carrying the "space dog" Laika who became very famous!

Likewise, no one knows if he would have hated CR either.
No one would know. EVER.
What, you mean straighteneing ties under water,
Well, that's not hard to do. The scene only happened in seconds. The boat dived underwater, Bond straighten his tie, them that's it. Unlike the one I remember who can breathe underwater for more than 5 minutes.
winks, eyebrow raises,
That's Moore Bond. The rest didn't wink and raise their eyebrows.
fights without a single hair out of place, gets beaten up with not a trace of blood on him,
At some points, Brosnan messes up his hair during a fight, but these two things do happen to every action movie, even Craig doesn't get his hair messed up. If we have blood, then all of the action films would not get a PG rating.
BOND sells, NOT CRAIG
The reboot is a risky area, did Eon need to do it? NO. Did this confuse alot of people? YES.
The Bond character will always be anchored in the values of the 60s

The plot in Dr No is actually also about the space race, but in a little more realistic way than YOLT.

Dr No sabotages NASA:s Mercury project of the early 60s.

Have a look on MI6.co.uk/CommanderBond.net and you will see that there are millions of very nasty comments about various actors and actresses linked or associated with James Bond.

You can protest at the Count's botox comment without calling him a twat.

Sorry.............i apologise

Honestly i'am really a good guy...........its just that some of the comments here seem very childish.

I post here as like Sweeney i like to post an opposing view, and its more interesting than posting on a site where everyone agrees.

Anyway i'am sure he just laughed the comment off.

Regards

Your friendly agent.

EA.

Pierre Cardin and others created fashion that was inspired by the space race in the 60s :)

The Sovietunion was the pioneer in sending living creatures into space, first with Laika (who sadly didn't get to return to earth) and second with the kosmonaut Juri Gagarin in 1961.

The NASA Mercury project, with its one-man space capsule, was followed by the two-man capsule Gemini project, and this was the model for the Jupiter capsule in YOLT :)
