LTK made $156 million, with a budget of $32 million. How are those flops? I agree that by Bond standards they are certainly sub-par performance wise but overall they are not flat out flops like a lot of people claim.
No EON Bond film has ever lost money (not sure about NSNA or CR67).
Never said they lost money.
By those qualifications CR67 and NSNA were hits as well.
CR67 $10.2m
NSNA $55.4m
Octopussy $67.8

OHMSS was not the 2nd top grossing film of 1969! Not even close! Losing money in a market can be considered a flop, enough for the studio to be concerned about it at any rate.

More or less my point. Ishtar made money but is considered a flop.
Those films (CR67, NSNA) are consider by some fans and some in the industry as flops. Go to just about any fan thread for reasons NSNA shouldn't be remade, flop will be there somewhere.

So yes Bond movies can be flops, losing money is another matter. Suck factor is another. A sequel making significantly less than the predecessor can be another. WB has fears Harry Potter 6 will flop because the last book is out.

If QOS flops dramatically at the BO, do you really think we will be on here saying `Yeah! Told ya so! QOS is a massive success! Yaahh! Boooo! Sucks to you, etc.!' Of course not. If QOS flops, I won't deny it, and if QOS sucks as a film, I'll be the first on here showing my disappointment.

If however, QOS rakes in more money than CR at the BO, it will be very interesting to see your response on here, the biggest flip-flopper of all. Maybe you'll suddenly become a massive fan of Craig again, and go and see the film 11 TIMES at the cinema like you did with CR.....

You know, I'm through with her BS. Her hating Craig is just an odd way for her to spite MI6 just because the mods wouldn't do her petty demands such as banning certain members. Let's just ignore that troll.

I agree. She is a troll of the highest order, and I'm suprised she is still on here and not been banned. She gives the decent folk on here, who have genuine issues about Craig a bad name.

DCINBers like to be easy on anti-Craigers, if she were a pro-Craig and acted like this to the others, she would have been gone a LONG time ago. Just my opinion.

Anyway, let's get back to a more interesting topic given that this is a James Bond site... Bond topics, particularly QOS. :)

Not spectacular either way, if you look at my actual prediction.
My expectation is born from a longer view of the marketplace and trends.

Sony is concerned enough to shuffle Quark around and give away free tickets. They don't see the US market as a particular strength and probably have a team a guys telling the same thing I am for the same reasons. World markets are sooo fickle, neighboring tensions can kill a other wise decent money maker.

Yes, you are right. That's the US market. If it's not in our database I'll go to the book archives later.
Still wouldn't matter Dec 69 release isn't going to take #2
OHMSS did $82,000,000 World Wide, taking big dip over previous three and well below DAF and LALD.

You need to be aware that part of the rational behind these films being disappointments is the high expectations and number of people in the profit pool. Also the financial backers and theater owners who take their cut first.
Cubby worked his ass off to keep Bond afloat during the lean years.

Try looking beyond money totals, inflation helps to make them useless.

I'm confident that QOS will be a similar sized hit for EON after the mega success of CR. There is an already 'new' audience, plus the benefit of the diehard Bond fans. Is it just me or are they growing bigger and bigger everyday. And of course not all of them are Craig fans granted.
But Bond is still a draw card at the cinema, it's still and event. Like Indy or Star Wars. People will go and see QOS on the curiousity factor alone.
Just before finish this post, I took my son to see Star Wars the clone wars last weekend. Just before we entered the cinema my wife stopped me to ask me if I'd missed something. Looking puzzled she pointed to a massive 20' + long poster for QOS that I'd missed.
Rest assured I've booked myself in for an eye test shortly.

Pride goes before destruction.
By this "reasoning" absolutely any jagoff can be cast as Bond.
Angelina Jolie
Morgan Freeman
Pauly Shore
Matt Damon

 We knew you needed your eyes looked at long before this mate :)

This doesn't say a lot for the PR team they got on this, if a active fervent fan misses the 20' poster. How many others not as involved with Craig dismissed it just as handily?
