WB announced that Half-Blood Prince is delayed until July 17th, 2009. So for those who were hoping it would be a major threat for QOS, you're gonna have to look for another film to root for. :P

Other than that, WOW. What's up with films getting release dates pushed back so often? First Valkyrie (the one with Tom Cruise as a nazi), then Star Trek, now Harry Potter. It's becoming a trend this year.

Nobody cares about Valkrie. I'm curious to see Star Trek, though.

If thats true 'Stocks', then that is very good news for QOS from a business point of view.

Nah, I like OP. Not a preferable Bond flick, but it has its moments and John Barry is at his top form. I don't get the hate for "All Time High", I like the song. Has brilliant melodies. Example is Bond confronting Octopussy, despite the lack of chemistry between Moore and Adams and the unconvincing acting from both, the music almost sells the scene on its own. That's the power of John Barry. He truly reached his peak in the 80s as a composer.

I've been buying all of John Barry's Bond scores and I am up to DAF. I'm going to skip TMWTGG since it's his least memorable (not surprising since he had little time). MR is going to be quite a listener and then finally the grand OP, AVTAK and TLD.

He was still good in the 60s from FRWL to YOLT, but I think the major turning point for Barry was with OHMSS. Since then he's just been flat out brilliant. It would be amazing for the series to ever have a composer of such brilliance. Hell it would be amazing for all music since we haven't had a memorable film score since arguably John Williams' The Phantom Menace.

I'd argue that Williams' score for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Thingy is right up there with his best work, achieving a far greater emotional range than we're used to from Williams.

I'm not doubting William's brilliance, I just feel his TPM score was pretty much his last brilliant work, still the work afterwards trumps most scores these days. It's also amazing how Danny Elfman was becoming a great composer and just sometime in the late 90s he lost that touch.

I think HP3 > Phantom Menace, and that came later.

Latest Bond ride a Ford minicar?

Movies - James Bond has outrun evildoers in a BMW with rocket launchers, a high-performance Mustang and an Aston Martin with an ejector seat.

But is the super-spy ready for a minicar?

Ford Motor Co. says its redesigned Ka city car would debut in the upcoming Bond film Quantum of Solace, set for release in North America on Nov. 7.

The movie is the 22nd in the long-running franchise based on the books by author Ian Fleming about a secret agent who saves the world from villains, often after a high-speed chase in a gadget-heavy supercar.

Ford struck a three-movie contract with Bond producers, starting with Die Another Day in 2002.

Ford wouldn't say if Bond would take a ride in its upcoming minicar.

Wonder whos the more embarrassed? them for having Craig or Craig for being seen in a ford.
Still none of it would have the gravitas of Pierce adverting Ford.

Craig in a Ford Focus is believable, we see Pierce in one and we wonder what the hell happened? Did Goldfinger capture him at the supermall and he make good his escape in a mall bunny's sweet ride? Is this an escape pod from his Aston Martin?

When I went to see FYEO in the cinema, one of the 3 (I think) Citroens used in the filming of that sequence was on display in the foyer, complete with bullet holes.

I thought the Citroen was a nice twist on the usual Bond car chase. I think Cubby said it was an intentional in-joke to use an everday Citroen after going a bit overboard with Moonraker. I'm not quite sure what the rationale is for putting Craig in a Ford minicar. Maybe they want to make him look even more ordinary in this one.
