I actually like to revisit it every year around this time but 2026 is especially noteworthy. In addition to being the 45th anniversary of the film's release, it's also the 70th anniversary of the last time Cortina hosted the Winter games.

(Also, special shout-out to our very own Kristatos! This guy began the 1980s by betraying both an archaeologist and James Bond and then ended the decade by pulling the exact same feat!)
I quite enjoy some of Bill Conti's score but it's a shame John Barry couldn't do the music for the film.

PADDY POWER LATEST ODDS. Callum Turner is still the leading the pack with the bookies. I have no idea who Anthony Boyle is when he's at home.

Callum Turner 4/9

Aaron Taylor-Johnson 5/1

Jacob Elordi 6/1

Leo Suter 8/1

Anthony Boyle 8/1

Jack Lowden 12/1

Yeah, I take all this media speculation with a bag of salt. We won't know until an official announcement - or a leak of an impending official announcement. It's fun though. Only the other week the papers had Callum Turner telling strangers in the pub he was the new Bond. And before that they said Aaron Taylor-Johnson had shot his gun barrel. I have a theory (just a theory) that Taylor-Johnson was Barbara's man and that went kaput when Amazon took over. I can't find the link but someone on another forum had a very recent clip of Jacob Elordi being asked about the James Bond rumours. Elordi, very adroitly and in polite fashion, basically avoided the question and simply praised Denis Villeneuve. I don't know if this means anything but he's being coy for now.

I suspect that these stories are being planted by the actors' agents, the equivalent of the "for your consideration" ads in the trades during the run-up to Oscar season.

So I finished watching season 1 of SAS Rogue Heroes, and my earlier comment about the lack of big action setpieces wasn't true of the later episodes. It reminded me of a cross between a Bond film and the sort of war films I grew up watching; The Guns of Navarone, Kelly's Heroes, and others of that ilk. Looking forward to seeing what Steven Knight does with Bond.

I cannot stand the cold temperatures here in NYC with another 3 weeks of barely touching 32 degrees after a 10" snow storm buried the city and won't melt for months at this rate!..........Riz Ahmed reveals that former James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli gave her "blessing" to his new comedy-drama, where he portrays an actor being considered for the iconic spy role. Bait is a six-part comedy-drama coming to Prime Video in March, following "struggling actor" Shah Latif (Ahmed) over "four wild days" after viral reports emerge that he is in the running for 007. As "the entire world" voices their opinions on his potential casting, viewers will see how Shah's personal life "spirals out of control" as he's faced with "his last chance to hit it big".

When I lived in South Carolina, we used to get a lot of "snowbirds"; people from the northeast, usually retirees, who would migrate south for the winter, and then go back home to escape the brutal southern summers.

I wonder if this will make some cartoonish, distorted reference to us? If it were Babz producing this I would say definitely.
