Time's Man of the Year
Time's Man of the Year
It's Pooty
GQ Magazine's Man of the Year - Daniel Craig. Both articles talk about the subject's icy blue eyes and both have photos of them in very similar looking suits. Scary.

"He's the one that doesn't smile" - Queen Elizabeth II on Daniel Craig
The nature of the award doesn't require the impact to be a good one. It just has to be significant. Hitler, Stalin and Bush all qualify in that regard.Dr. No wrote:So were Hitler, Stalin and Bush.
With their track record you think they'd think it over a bit more.
Pooty has made an impact, not a good one. He is becoming a classic bond villain.

What about last years brain numbing choice?Kristatos wrote:The nature of the award doesn't require the impact to be a good one. It just has to be significant. Hitler, Stalin and Bush all qualify in that regard.Dr. No wrote:So were Hitler, Stalin and Bush.

Putin a child of destiny?
Time's tribute to Putin begins with an ode to his "pale blue eyes," so it appears there are at least some hints of fandom.
Vladimir Putin was visibly active in the last 4 to 5 months securing his hold on Russia. Makes for a big impression but what about India's leader.
Time gave balanced coverage of hiim. They don't make him a saint, but neither do they demonize him.
Other persons of the year who had profound effects but will not be winning any humanity awards:
Corazon Aquino - 1986
Diang Xioaping - 1985
Ayatollah Khomenei - 1979
Saudi Prince Faisal - 1974
Mohammed Mosadegh - 1951
Joseph Stalin - 1942, 1939
Adolph Hitler - 1938

Al Gore has been championing the environment fro years amd finally got traction and attention with his movie making a worldwide impact.James1090 wrote:Dr. No wrote:Petreus would be a good choice but I'd gone with Al Gore. This was his year.
Can I ask why? I don't think he is as deserving.
I'm not sold on golbal warming but Al Gore is affecting laws, regulations and eduication worldwide.

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.
But the movie didn't come out this year, so I'm not sure that would qualify him for Man of the Year. Petreus is just an ass-kisser telling the boss what he wants to hear.Dr. No wrote:Al Gore has been championing the environment fro years amd finally got traction and attention with his movie making a worldwide impact.James1090 wrote:Dr. No wrote:Petreus would be a good choice but I'd gone with Al Gore.
