It's Christmas soon (if you hadn't noticed) which that at least one adaption of A Christmas Carol will be on.

1951 Alistair Sim version is classic. So is 1938 Reginald Owen version, and 1921 Seymour Hicks version, as well as my all time favorite cartoon, Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol from the 1960s. I like watching all of the older classic ones as opposed to the newer versions.Kristatos wrote:Surely Alistair Sim is the definitive Scrooge.
I watched the Owen version the other day and I thought the transformation from the miserly Scrooge of the film's opening to the happy Scrooge at the end came a little too suddenly. Sim's was more of a gradual transformation over the course of the movie, as it should be.bjmdds wrote:1951 Alistair Sim version is classic. The Stewart version is No family tradition. And one of the best made IMO. Stewart did a one man show based on the Christmas Carol and understood the story inside and outcarl stromberg wrote:It's Christmas soon (if you hadn't noticed) which that at least one adaption of A Christmas Carol will be on.

Alistair Sim is a classic. Got a soft spot for it
The one I didn't care for was the George C Scott version. Scrooge singing "I hate people" was a little over the top for me. One powerful vision from that one is Scrooge in hell being measured for his chains.
Either one you choose it's going to be a good. Unless it's a remake form the lifetime channel

(BTW Mrs. No loves the Muppet Christmas Carol
