Craig denies "four more Bonds" rumour
Craig denies "four more Bonds" rumour
Sounds like he wants to take it one film at a time, which I think is sensible. Keeping Craig (or any other Bond actor) on for film after film after he has got bored of the role benefits no-one.

Re: Craig denies "four more Bonds" rumour
That's too bad. I would have thought he did sign it, meaning he was willing and ready for four more (including Bond 22). Hopefully he'd be around for the anniversary in 2012. I think four or five films is the best number for any actor on the role. But, I'd hate Craig to be bored like Connery was by his fifth.Kristatos wrote:Sounds like he wants to take it one film at a time, which I think is sensible. Exactly. This way, if he's bored of Bond, he won't be locked into a contract, and if he isn't, there's nothing to stop him making a fifth movie if he wants to.stockslivevan wrote:But, I'd hate Craig to be bored like Connery was by his fifth.

Perhaps if EON keeps up the effort in putting out good material Craig finds interesting he won't become bored like Connery was.
So as long as EON keeps the Bond character front and center and have interesting material, Craig could stay for an extra film or two after Bond 23. But I do not want Craig doing a sixth. Five is just enough, plus Craig would leave at 46 which is the right age for any actor to leave, letting EON search for another actor preferably in his 30s.
And he was right, YOLT dropped what made Bond interesting in favor for gimmicks such as gadgets and OTT material which lead You Only Live Twice to be a major 51% drop from Thunderball on ticket sales, clearly showing that audiences were not happy with that one as Connery was. Sadly, EON was late realizing that people went to see these movies for Bond, not gadgets, and Connery was already gone. If he remained interested he would have stuck around for On Her Majesty's Secret Service and then we could have had THE best Bond film of all time.Sean Connery wrote:"One of the reasons I stopped doing it was because I got really fed up with the space stuff and special effects. I just found it getting more and more influential in the movies."

Really. I can understand the whole Craig-As-Bond hating thing but when you want his non-Bond career to crash and burn to the point he has no job, well, that's kinda taking it up a notch isn't it?The Sweeney wrote:Once again bj, I get the impression you are attacking Craig personally. At least Craig hasn't gone this route:

I asked if Daniel Craig (one of the world's best actors I've been told by Bond fans over the last few years) would have a good non-Bond film career that would force him to leave Bond. BJ said that on recent evidence, he does not.
I think that is stating a fact, not attacking Craig the actor.

I stated results to his last 3 films. If they don't measure up to a success, nothing anyone can do about that. FACTS. Also, he was an unknown before Bond, and probably will be one after Bond. I do not see people running out of their way to stampede the theatres to see his 'other' work, do you, and if so, NAME ONE? I do not like false hype and praise when facts bear out the opposite. This is not a Craig spin room here, ala Hillary trying to find the good in losing 10 straight contests to Obama. Guess what? There 'ain't' none. Craig is not a non-Bond draw, period, end of story, FACT. Proove otherwise if you disagree. The Sweeney wrote:Once again bj, I get the impression you are attacking Craig personally. I don't disagree. It's just that I get the impression you love to knock him to bits at any given chance you can getbjmdds wrote:I stated results to his last 3 films. Okay, he's not as popular outside of Bond, so what? Nobody can be unless you're Connery.bjmdds wrote:I stated results to his last 3 films.
