Tarantino hits out at Bond remake


Director Quentin Tarantino has slammed the Casino Royale producers for making the movie without his input, according to the UK movie magazine, Total Film.
Tarantino, 44, best known for hit cult films like Pulp Fiction, said remaking the Bond movie was originally his idea.

"I never saw Casino Royale because I was so mad at those guys," he said. "They said publicly that Casino Royale was un-filmable."

British actor Daniel Craig made his 007 debut in the film.

The movie has been hailed the most successful Bond film ever after it generated $454m (£232m) in cinemas worldwide shortly after it was released.

"The minute I said I would do Casino Royale, it's on all the websites and it is the film that people want to see. They should have said thank you, " added Tarantino.

His most recent film, Death Proof, received critical acclaim and a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

The movie, which stars Kurt Russell as a stuntman who stalks women, is due to be released in the UK on 21 September.

We may have got a better Bond and a truer and different version to the mess that was casino royale which seemed to want its cake and eat it shun the parts that made the series memeroble q, moneypenny etc.. and fall back on the trusted stunts when the plot is too dull. i think the film should have been set in sixties and conatined a younger actor as bond instead of this reboot rubbish we got

I saw Kill Bill a few months ago. Every frame of that film has something interesting going on. I think QT would have to tone down the violence and weirdness, but yeah, he'd have done something amazing with Bond.

You dont actually know that QT wouldn't want Craig.

He actually wanted Pierce Brosnan. According to the reports I've read, he wanted to do it as an R-rated period piece set in the 50's, so it's hard to argue that EON ripped him off. And to say that doing CR was his idea is nonsense. Does he really think that EON wouldn't have thought of filming the novel after they finally obtained the rights to it without his input? Twat.

Hell, did he really believe for once that he would be allowed to actually make a rated R 1950s Bond film with Pierce Brosnan? That's probably the most unrealistic scenerio in Hollywood unless another independent group takes over the Bond franchise.

I'm not sure that Tarantino's vision was realisitic.

Why doesn't he make a 50/60's set Bond-style movie instead?
