What if Bond 22 is awful....

Post by carl stromberg »

Lot's of Craigsceptics seem to be giving Daniel Craig another chance in Bond 22 even though they disliked him in Casino Royale?

What will you do if Bond 22 is disappointing? Give him another chance? Will you watch any Bond film?
Bring back Bond!

Yep I'll watch any Bond film that Eon throws at me.
Provided that the lead actor isn't totally miscast.

Can't say that a Danny Craig Bond film is top of my list of films to see in the future. A Bond film is usually my biggest cinema event of the year but I feel somewhat alienated by the latest era.

It's only been one film so far Jim.
You'll get over it. Eventually.

I’m prepared to give Craig a chance, just like I did with CR. I will go and watch the film regardless of reviews. If Craig delivers a Bond like performance, then I will state this to the entire forum. If on the other hand, he is raw, blunt, uncouth and without a hint of refinement, then I will take my criticism to another level. I was not over the moon at his appointment and his appearance is not typical of the perception of what Bond should be, but this never stopped me giving him a chance and I will give him the same opportunity in Bond 22.

Hear hear. In fact, I'm not sure what could make me not see a Bond film. They could cast Adam Sandler as Bond and I'd probably still go.

I agree. No matter who got the role, I would go and see it. Save my moaning til after I watched it.

I think Kris said it tongue firmly planted in cheek. The point both he and I made was that however Eon chose as Bond we would both be prepared to watch it.

Really?
No actually I suppose I would too.
But not someone who is really miscast like Sandler or the like. Even I would kick up a stink over some choices.

Bond 22 isn't going to kill the series for me if it turns out to be terrible. Connery, Moore, and Brosnan had their share of bad Bond films so why dismiss so easily?

The only way for me to grow disenchanted with the franchise is if they make at least five bad films in a row, that could drown my hopes for the series. I'm sure plenty of Bond fans felt that way during Brosnan's tenure, esspecially after DAD.

CR was bad enough. B22 -if it draws me in and i'd like it to- If b22 bites then I wouldn't come back for B23 unless a new actor was hired.

Don't forget about the fans who didn't go to the TD's movies because he destroyed the fun of the movies -to them any how-

says who?
out of 90 mil who saw CR-DC plenty don't like him. -20k fans online -maybe 100s at the most posting their views- don't make up enough to reflect all fans.
The greatest fan is the guy in his layzboy who never post online -or goes online to read about JB- and never read the books.

Well, once the BO takings of Bond 22 start to roll in, we will then have a pretty good idea if the man on the street does like CR.

So if EON did cast Adam Sandler as Bond (not that this would ever happen, I'm just using it as a hypothetical example of extreme miscasting), and he turned out to be popular in the role, would the "majority rules" logic still apply?
