Just started watching it for the first time since 1983.

God, what a piece of crap.

So, some Cuban-looking nation is having a horse race, Bond gets apprehended planting something on their high-tech flashy-thing, and two MPs just happen to be wearing WHITE parachutes with spring-loaded drogues and ripcords, instead of static lines, with no reserves, no helmets and no obvious plans for any airborne operations, then takes a tiny little jet into acrobatics against a conveniently waiting SAM that can do U-turns, before filling it up with low octane gas or Diesel #1 instead of grade 80 Jet A, and will somehow fly the next 5 minutes into safe territory in a red white and blue stunt plane while what's left of their military looks for him, and then we have Rita Coolidge's voice being abused for a love song.

No wonder it's one of three Bond films I don't own. (MR and QoS being the other two.)

Even for Bond this is ridiculous, and garbage to boot.

What do you think of A View to a Kill ?

I'd take octopussy, a view to a kill and moonraker over quantum of snotface anyday, anything's better then that, even bond as a clown which ironically he is now.

I do agree with that. They were entertaining schlock vs tedious crap.

VTAK is bad, too. If Chris Walken can't be scary, the director has screwed up.

I like it as it is a big OTT adventure film with Roger Moore. I love the pre-credit sequence with Roger and his fake mustache; but I can see how it could be bit much for some fans!

I also love the East German setting at the end. And it includes Louis Jourdan, Maud Adams and Steve Berkoff doing a loony 80's Soviet villian.

Just posted a review of Carte Blanche by Gabrielle Malcolm and she had a comment about the Bond series 'jumping the Shark' with Roger Moore and finally getting back on track with Pierce. I enjoy Gabrielle's writing (she had a wonderful tribute to Liz Sladen).

I enjoyed Rogers movies for a lot of reasons, it is heartbreaking to see his movies with the knowledge of where the series goes 30 years later with Daniel.
