He wanted to be Bond. I think the Transporter films are good silly fun but he doesn't quite look the part and is a bit short...oh, hold on...

I'm quite a big fan of Jason Statham, and love his Transporter films.

He would no be my first choice as Bond, as there are currently about 2000 actors aged between 28 (not forgetting Stocksilvian's favourite Henry Cavill who is even younger!) and Pierce Brosnan (!) who have the Bond look to choose from.

But if you are deviating from the Bond look, then Jason Statham would be fun.
Bring back Bond!

If McClory is still around and plans to make an unofficial Bond, Statham would be perfect.

McClory passed away a couple of years ago.

Come on are you serious? He would be as big a disaster as Craig. I could imagine that announcement:

Eon Press "It was a tough choice with Statham and Diesel both auditioning for the roll but in the end we decided to go with the bald go with the accent."

I loved the transporter and think Statham is a cool cat but you can't just put whoever you like in the roll of Bond. He has to be able to be a cold killer (the one part Craig can pull off), have a bit of sarcastic humor, be quite the ladies man oh yeah and according to Mr Flemming be 6', Black Hair, Blue Eyes, slim build and a scar on his cheek (something the studios have always left out).

Given the millions of people who want to be actors I am sure there are tons of good actors who meet that description.

If you are going to abandon the looks completely like Craig might as well skip the accent and go American what about Charlie Sheen?

Yes but in a world of choices they don't all have to be bad ones. :007:

That's not the point I was making. I was saying that just because an actor is balding doesn't prevent him from being a candidate to play Bond. I'm not saying Statham would make a good Bond, I just think it would be stupid to dismiss an actor for having a balding head despite the fact that Connery was also bald. If the next 007 actor happens to have a balding head I'd expect a lot of morons crying over how it makes the actor unsuitable.

He always has that tradmark shaven haircut. So, it would be rather jarring if he suddenly pitched up wearing a toupee.

I think it would be! I can't imagine him with hair at all.

I will give him this he was able to pull of a role call "Handsome Rob" and is a very likable, engaging character.
He took one small role sharing the screen with much bigger stars and turned it in a career. Thar is more than Craig was ever able to do.

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Jason Statham Wants To Be The Next Bond

Post by Goldeneye »

From a 2005 interview
Image
Actor Jason Statham confessed he would like to be the next James Bond, arguing his latest role in "The Transporter", due in UK cinemas on November 18, is very similar with a XXI-th century Bond.

According to the New York Post the "Snatch" star said: "He's (Bond) been around for so many years.

"I'm a massive fan of James Bond, and I've seen every one of the movies. If I was to do that most prestigious role, then I think I'd add a new, modern feel to it, definitely."

He added: "He's the James Bond that drinks a Heineken, not a martini."

Jason Statham born 1972, is a British actor, known best for his work in the Guy Ritchie crime caper films "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch", though he has also appeared as a supporting character in several Hollywood productions such as "The One" and the American remake of "The Italian Job".

Urgh. Just goes to confirm that if Statham were to play Bond, we'd soon be saying "actually, maybe Daniel Craig wasn't that bad after all".
