Blimey you guys have been busy tonight posting after a couple or so of quiet days.
Just thought i'd put my two pennies worth in.
From what i've read so far tonight on regards the Bond fan sites...........
yes i will say that CBn and MI6 are very pro-Craig sites.
When i joined CBn during the release of CR i initially found it quite a good
site, but i did get fed up with the same topics being forever repeated, and
people seemed to get jealous if you posted a news item, which then got posted on the front page of the website.
I will say that any anti-craigers were dismissed instantly, and told to get off the site and come here, and any pro-craigers who mentioned DCinB
were swarmed on by the moderators and told never to mention you guys.
One post i did start which was interesting, was when i asked how many
times the members there had gone to see CR at the cinema. The average was around 4 times (including me).
The record by the way was from a Californian woman who had seen the
film at her local cinema a mind boggling 31 times!!!
Incidently how many times did you guys see the film, in the hope that you
might find something to enjoy in it?
I did later post on MI6 for a while earlier this year, and it was hilarious at
times. I remember one thread with 'BJ, Charles Vine and YOLT' which
accumulated a huge posting count, and poor old YOLT got a lot of flak
because he loved DAD and hated CR......after a while he eventually told
everyone he was deaf, and it became clear that he liked the Brosnan
films, because they were visually spectacular which he enjoyed and could relate to better, rather than trying to follow the sometimes longer dialogue scenes in CR. So, what i'am saying is that the Bond films mean
different things to different people.
One person who could hold his own was 'Charles Vine' who was (or is)
totally unphased by the comments made to him..........................i did
ask him once why he had not joined this site as he was such a strong
anti-craiger, but he told me, he didn't agree with the way this site had
gone about its anti-craig campaign!!
I too also found that threads at MI6 got locked, or were never allowed to start by the mods there..........it was strange as the threads were not controversial in anyway.
BTW:- I got on well with 'Dog Bond' as she had the same interest in the
business side of films, as i do.
and, 'BJ' when just prior to Bond 22 being released, dont make any BO
predictions at 'MI6', as of your experience there for CR, you nearly got
torn apart by 'Dog Bond'!!!
Mind you when the time comes around for Bond 22, i'am sure i'll bore you
with all the BO statistics at my disposal!!
I think the reasons why those sites were very defensive of DC and CR was for one due to the fact that some anti DC people joined the sites to spam them by adding links to drug and porn sites and of course the
noteriety of this site at the time.
In regards to this site..............i thought it was a brave move by the admin
people here to start a forum, particularly after the verbal attacks here by DB on the websites frontpage to anyone who remotely liked DC.
As some people here know, i was less than friendly when i initially joined
the forums but i soon realised that the people here posting on the forums
were not the same people who had made the personal attacks.
To my surprise, i have actually found it enjoyable posting here!!
Even the moderators get into the spirit of posting on the threads.
There are some amusing personalities!!!
As some of you guys are a scream.............and i probably would if i ever
met you!!!!!!!!
Anyway on to the Bond films......even though i am a pro-craiger, i do
understand the reasons why you guys dont like the way the direction of
the franchise has gone, and unfortunately for you it appears Bond 22 will
be much the same in tone as CR.
It also appears that BB now has the sole power to influence the future
direction of the franchise, and it must be a worry to you guys what she
will do in the future, based on her hiring of DC, (though obviously from my perspective i am pleased with the franchise at the moment)!!
It does amaze me though that some of you here are prepared not even
to give DC a chance and to wait and hope that in a decade or so you
might actually get a actor who fills Bond shoes which you will embrace!!
I mean it could be a long wait to ignore your favourite film franchise!!
Incidently, what do you guys think Bond 22 should be called??
apart from the 'Bourne Mimicry'
Not Casino Royale AGAIN! or
Daniel Craig ate my Hamster
UK posters will understand the last line!!
