no it was easily one of the worst. The best has to be Connery in dr no. I'd put Dalton up there as well

I guess I have to give a movie a plus for that. The fact that White asked "Who is this?" is cool as well as the usage of the Bond theme(if I remember correctly). Still,no one reached the heights of Connery when it comes to saying "Bond. James Bond" and Craig definitely isn't a contender for the 2nd place,let alone 1st.

For the most part the line has been delivered in context, the Brosnan era has been guilty of quite often shoehorning Bond, James Bond in to situations it didn't quite belong, but keep in mind who was in charge then.

Pulling another $30M out of Newt Scamander’s magical case on Friday, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them has now grossed $53.6M at the international box office. Warner Bros’ franchise-starter landed in 16 more markets yesterday, taking the total to 63 this weekend with play on 24,200 screens (China and Japan open next frame). The film is playing largely to expectations abroad as it heads towards the century mark. The major bow on Friday was the UK, the birthplace of JK Rowling’s Wizarding universe, with $5.4M on 1,880 screens. Auds gave the scene- (and shiny-object-) stealing niffler 84% of the Top 5 share to land Fantastic Beasts with the best opening of all Harry Potter movies save the final two films.

Warner Bros. is calling the weekend for its Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at $75M and at this point in time the international is bound to put the global opening for the movie at $218.3M. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them let loose on the international box office this weekend with a $143.3M start in 63 markets. Blowing past projections, Warner Bros’ David Yates-directed franchise-starter broke Wizarding World opening records in 11 markets, including Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, Russia and Brazil. In the UK, where the movie bowed to $18.3M, it is the biggest opening weekend of the year (neck-and-neck with WB’s own Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice). On 276 IMAX screens, the Beasts captured $7M. JK Rowling’s first time as screenwriter is also the top launch of 2016 in Germany Sweden, Belgium and Switzerland; and the biggest WB bow in those along with France, Holland and Denmark. In terms of the Potterverse, Fantastic Beasts topped Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber Of Secrets, Goblet Of Fire and Prisoner Of Azkaban. The film in the USA was well received by opening day audiences, which gave it an "A" CinemaScore with the most interesting fact being it played to an audience that was 55% over the age of 35 and only 18% under the age of 18.

I went to see Fantastic Beasts. The first hour was dragging and mostly unrelated to any Potter substance. Eddie Redmayne is difficult to understand as he mumbles too much. The last 75 minutes at least relates to the future Potter films. All in all, you do not relate to these characters as you do to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. I would give the Potter films a solid "A" for the series and Fantastic Beasts a "B" at best as a starter film to the prequel franchise. FBF, your thoughts on the film.

That's not a criticism in itself. It's a new franchise, and should be judged on its own merits.

= Worldwide: $219,903,387---it could have a 60% drop off next weekend, but it is also the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, so we shall see. I don't anticipate the repeat viewings by paying customers that the Potter franchise had.

Suppose it comes down to how many will see it over the holidays. My impression is it is not supposed to be Harry Potter just be in the Potter universe, sort of like the new Star Wars Rogue One is in the universe not a direct prequel to the Skywalker saga.

Just a thought, perhaps it is too cynical, however when I heard how much he was losing not touring I remembered how movies and performances are insured in case the main act/actor is incapacitated.

I don't know, I haven't seen it yet. But it sounded like BJ was criticising it for not containing *enough* Potter references, unless I have misunderstood him, which is quite possible.

It is a Potter prequel and I believe it will be intricately related to the older characters in Pottersville that will be shown in their youths. By the way, the opening scene starts just like the Potter films did with basically the SAME music Box Office: 'Fantastic Beasts' Finds Better Monday Than First Two 'Harry Potter' Movies Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is right in the thick of it after earning a rock-solid $6.76 million on its first Monday. That brings the J.K. Rowling prequel up to $81.2m in four days. The $6.76 million Monday is a drop of 63.4% from its $18.49m Sunday gross. That 63.5% drop is right in the “normal” concerning comparison to its predecessors. The four “opened in Nov.” Harry Potter films earned (respectively) $6.6 million (-72%/$90m), $5.3m (-78%/$88m), $8m (-68%/$102m), and $8.75m (-65%/$125m) on their respective first Mondays. As you can see, inflation notwithstanding, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them earned more on its first Monday than the two Harry Potter movies despite those films opening with over/under $90 million debut weekends.

How do you rate it as a film, and as a Potter prequel?-------------On Monday and Tuesday overseas, Newt Scamander and his creatures added $12.5M and $12M, respectively, maintaining No. 1s and large market share everywhere. The offshore cume is now $170.7M. Japan unlocks the Beasts today. That has traditionally been a lead market on the related Potter pics. China follows Friday with star Eddie Redmayne and co-stars recently visiting the Middle Kingdom which is keyed up for the movie. In the USA, 'Fantastic Beasts' Finds Bigger First Tuesday Than Five Of Eight 'Harry Potter' Films Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them made an additional $9.3 million yesterday, bringing its five-day total to $90.461 million. That’s a whopping 38% increase from Monday’s $6.75m gross. That’s not only a huge Monday-to-Tuesday jump for the J.K. Rowling prequel, it’s a daily number way ahead of the first three Harry Potter films and awfully close to the later sequels that scored much bigger opening weekends. And even better news? If you look at the four Harry Potter, four Twilight, and three Hunger Games franchises that played on this weekend, you won’t find a better “Monday-to-Tuesday” percentage jump in all eleven prior respective entries FBF, your thoughts are warranted here!
