I find it hilarious they're sitting around making excuses for this tripe, and we're the ones with mental health issues!

They also criticize us as poor/non Bond fans, but as I've said before anyone who can accept Blofeld as Bond's foster brother does not deserve to classify themselves as a Bond fan! I can dismiss a lot from Bond films but that is just too much!

Muuuuhahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad to know we're striking a cord in the fan boy community!

Its also quite telling that they have to attack us because they can't legitimately defend this film!

To Mepal 1 and RC7 from MI6, keep lurking here more often, you moronic EON parasites. Maybe you will learn something constructive here. You accept ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that EVERYTHING OR NOTHING shovels down your collective throats :! ECHHHHHHHHHHHHH-TRE is in fact the correct title to this humiliating product Broccoli totally approved of :!: Cr-egg is a disgrace to the role and should be replaced at once :!: BRO-feld is Bond's step brother from childhood? Any you accept this premise as a Bond fan? Close up your forum, go back to kissing Broccoli's rear end, and maybe some day you will all wake up and realize that this was all a nightmare to be forgotten :!: :yay: Don't look now but the Peanuts movie is rated higher than ECH-TRE too on RT and ECT-TRE is down to 7.6 on IMBD and appears to be in free fall in it's ratings and I am LOVING IT :!:

There's something about the way he comes across (in the written word, at least), that rubs me up the wrong way. Almost as if he thought Bond was beneath him.

As for Rupert Friend, it wouldn't be the first time an actor has tested or been offered the role, only to get it a few years later.
Like Dalton & Brosnan...
Indeed. But just because Cubby never forgot a potential Bond, doesn't mean Barbara will be the same (she cast Craig, afterall, something I can't image Cubby ever doing). For what it's worth, i've come across some reviews of the Hitman film, that praise Friend as the best part of it. And seeing as a sequel is unlikely, it's not as if he's tied to another film series.

They seem to be going a bit loopy over there at the moment because Spectre is attracting some bad reviews from the American critics. Well, they can't have it both ways. They didn't complain when Skyfall was widely praised but now - all of a sudden - these critics don't know anything about Bond because they didn't care much for Spectre. The real MI6 forum went kaput anyway. That Mi6 board hasn't been around very long compared to this forum.

theverge.com: Bryan Bishop: Spectre is a mess; a listless mash-up of lazy gags and storytelling shortcuts that doesn’t just echo the series’ Mooreian lows — it undermines all the work the franchise has done since 2006. By the time it was over, I completely understood why Daniel Craig wants out. Every 007 movie ends with that title card: "James Bond will return." Before they start work on the next installment, I hope the producers just ask themselves one question: "Why?"

Ha I just noticed it's not just me that drew a comparison with Spaceballs.

From William Bibbianí's review:
And a last minute attempt to retcon a backstory between Bond and the villain Franz Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz, doing his schtick) is a feeble ploy to add emotional context where there is none. It’s like that scene in Spaceballs where Dark Helmet tells Lone Star “I am your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate” but we’re actually supposed to take it seriously.

I hate it when some of the reviewers say how Spectre is "going back to the crappy style of the Moore era". The Moore Bond films were all standalone adventures, no soap opera storyline that drags on. Moore's Bond didn't constantly complain about his job and go rogue, and there was no villains suffering from mommy and daddy issues. Moore pulls off the humour effortlessly, unlike Craig, and the filmmakers now can't seem to grasp how to make a fun/traditional Bond film that holds up to the classics. Too much content being poorly recycled, lame homages and mixing styles that don't work well. The bad CGI effects also date these films before they're even released, and the title songs and soundtracks have been rather lackluster to put it mildly.

I'm all for the return of a Moore/Connery style Bond film, but this isn't the way to do it.

The work franchise has done since 2006? Like throwing away forty years of history? Like disrespecting everything that the series represent(ed)? Yes,congrats because of that. _.///

Mixing styles definitely isn't something that works. They are just rocking the boat trying to appeal to both classic Bond fans and the ones who became "fans' after the reboot. And that pretty much showes how Barbara and Co. are insecure about it all ever since they are in charge.
Someone should take control over the franchise who actually wants to make REAL Bond movies and who would be proud to have the power to make movies with such an iconic character.
Who coud that be,I have no idea, but IMO until that someone doesn't show up we won't be seeing any new Bond films(in the real sense of word).

A couple of days ago I read the title that went:"Bond is ridiculous again" and I just thought about "realism" *coughcrashingthroughwallscough* and "seriousness" *coughhomealonestylecough* that seem to be the main reasons why this reboot was praised in the first place...now THAT is ridiculous

I'm with you 100% Saint! I too am disturbed the the apparent pass the critics are giving " James I am your brother" while instead bemoaning the "return to Moore's camp". Now to be fair I'm sure its being done with the subtly of a jackhammer that EON is known for but its the least of this ffilm's sins.

I call this picture a dark storm cloud with a silver lining, tarnished black. The cloud being the ridiculous story and the lining the attempt to bring back some of the old Bond, but its tarnished black by the fact that its being done in such a hackneyed manner that the criticising of the finished product will justify the crashing back to CR levels of non Bond and more soul crushing despair from cinimatic funeral dirges!

The thing is, if Craig does do the next film.........i imagine it would be a case of more of the same, and that if EON were to change direction again, it would only occur when there is a change of lead actor. As i'am not sure how the public would take it, if that after 4 Craig re-boot films, if suddenly his 5th were to be a more traditional Bond film!

Broccoli won't go back to the old formula. She feels the critics will mock her into embarrassment. She now lives for their praise as a real Hollywoodie producer of a fine arts non-Bond film. She must be bought out for any hope of normalcy to return. Right now, I cannot stand this franchise :!: :fight:

As long as she stays from casting traditional tall and dark-haired types, I'm good.

in not so sure she won't . She made 3 of pierces films as producer she was part of Dalons. It's not impossible especially when Craig and this movie are not wowing the right critics and awards guys .
