Right now the Queen of England will be seeing the new Bond film.........i hope she pays for the ticket, like the rest of us have to........she should do, as has more money than God!

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I with you, pal. I don't buy it either, this whole "don't judge it until you see it" claptrap. As my Uncle Fast Eddie used to say (and he's really six feet under and pushing petunias), "If you don't question the smooth talk, you're the sucker they count on." The reality factor is, people have been prejudging movies based on trailers, posters, and cast announcements for at least 700 bajillion years. These elements are advertisements for a movie with the obvious intention to appeal to us. So they throw these things at us, and we take it in and judge. So when I'm sitting in a theater, and the trailer featuring that fat actress Melissa McCarthy comes on and she's doing her schtick, it's no surprise that I hear the audience already saying, "this is a stupid movie" or this is gawd awful" or just groaning in disgust. Movies are judged all the time based on their trailers. That's reality. Spectre is no exception. We even know Craig's approach to the role, we know what Eon is doing to the series, and we know (at least those who can confront reality) what the Sony leaks have revealed about the script and the idiotic ideas they've stuffed in it.Omega wrote: I'm tired of the see it before you can judge line, or at least I'd be for it if you could get you money back or/andif it wasn't potentially putting bonuses in Daniel I'd rather slit my wrists Craig's pocket

For me, apart from looking closely at the trailer and all the hype for Spectre, my approach is no different from what I was doing even 20 years ago. I've always looked at the direction a new Bond film is taking and then see what kind of vibe I get from it. For Spectre, I'll be watching kitsch plain and simple, like all the other films in this useless reboot. If there's anything positive I can say at this point about Spectre, I can at least tell my grand kids I'll be seeing some good explosions in a lifetime of junk movie watching.

This bit in particular was very interesting:
Now, don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a bad film (it isn’t Quantum of Solace), far from it, it’s pretty… well… it’s ok. It saddens me that so many reviews gave it 5 stars because, in retrospect, I can only assume they were paid for reviews from the Bond PR juggernaut. Which, if true, saddens me immensely.
This is a 3 star movie if I ever saw one. I don’t ever use the star system to review films, but it’s the only way I can tell you not to get your hopes up. Go in expecting nothing and you’ll end up probably having a good time.
The last thing I will say is this… Much like this review, it is far too long.
Also agreed atticus sometimes you can judge from what you see (used to be the opposite but a lot of films today the trailer gives it away (terminator genisys is a good example of that (the whole film, twist....all given away in the trailer), spectre to Me looks like a sloopy film thrown together, thrown into a blender except it just doesn't work.

Of all the things bond has been unlikeable was not one. Since Craig took over bond has not been likable . But he got a pass for cr and sf, qos and sp they don't hide he's a miserable sob.

The retconning is bad enough, but now they're bringing it down to the base level of toilet training-allegedly. Really?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
A review on AJB. The only forum review from a user I've found anywhere so far.
I've seen the film. It doesn't have the dramatic or emotional impact of Casino Royale or Skyfall, so when the end credits start rolling you're left feeling a little empty. There isn't much story and it's pretty obvious who's really who after all the fuss. The main flaw is the relationship between Bond and the villain isn't developed, to such a degree that you wonder if there was any point.
As with Skyfall there are issues with story logic and motivation, but this one gets away with it better due to the emphasis on classic-style Bond entertainment.
The pre-title sequence is as exciting as possible given some poor green screen work; the rest of the visual effects, by ILM this time, are fine. I found the much-hyped car chase a bit of a damp squib. The fight scene is the most satisfying bit of action.
There were a few moments when I wanted Thomas Newman to shut the *beep* up. A much better score could have helped this film quite a bit. Sam Smith's song doesn't screw up the titles too badly. An instrumental of it appears over one scene later in the film to at least try and tie things together.
Monica Bellucci fans will be disappointed with her limited screen time. Lea Seydoux gives the film its heart and soul; it almost feels like Madeleine's story is more important than Bond's. Fiennes, Harris and Whishaw are as good as before. Christoph Waltz enjoys his role playing Christoph Waltz. I don't watch Sherlock but I understand Andrew Scott is the same in everything, so I guess he's done the same here.
It's the funniest of the Craig films by some distance, with many of the laughs provided by Q.
Quantum of Solace haters will sadly be able to use this film as ammunition against that undervalued earlier Craig film, courtesy of the opening titles and a scene near the climax.
I'd keep your eyes closed during the title sequence if you're scared of octopuses (or 'octopi' if you prefer).
The film doesn't really stay in the memory for long which I guess is what ultimately prevents it from being a classic, but it's still good and those who have been missing all the classic Bond tropes will lap it up.
Those critics who gave it 3.5 out of 5 have it right. It's certainly a flawed film, though, Bond or otherwise.

I read somewhere or other that at the premiere tonight Daniel Craig didn't answer the question when asked if he'd play Bond again but Barbara Broccoli said she would "figure out a way" to make sure he returned.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Part of the bait for Craig was allowing him a large say in the film's production (he's said to have offered Mendes the job after bumping into him at a party). “He felt that if he was basically going to dedicate a couple of decades to this, he wanted to be very much a part of it and we all welcomed it because Daniel's highly intelligent, very intuitive and has great insight into dramatic structure. He's given the character a whole new dimension,” says Broccoli, who's worked on the franchise since she was 17. “He's the greatest Bond there's ever been.” When I later ask the producers what they make of their leading man’s remarks they decline to comment. “Asking who's going to be the next Bond is hypothetical,” Broccoli says in her transatlantic tones – she attended British schools and US universities and has dual citizenship. “I always say it's like asking the bride as she's walking up the aisle who her next husband's going to be I can't think of anyone else apart from Daniel in that role and until he says he's not going to do it the field is not open. I really don't even want to think about the day he decides he doesn't want to do it but it's up to him, he'll let us know what he wants to do.” Her calm tone suddenly becomes a giggly shriek. “And I'll be on my knees praying.” But could the next Bond be black? “Nothing's ruled out,” says Wilson, who's lean and silver-haired. “But there's nothing we can say about this that won't be misinterpreted, whenever we say anything at all there are headlines saying: ''A black person will never be Bond', 'The next Bond will be a woman'. “A dog,” Broccoli suggests. One script did appear briefly online after the Bond studio Sony was hacked earlier this year. “Certain little things came out, but nothing important,” says Wilson.

That's true...........Craig didn't answer the question, i think he will wait a few months to give his answer.James wrote:I read somewhere or other that at the premiere tonight Daniel Craig didn't answer the question when asked if he'd play Bond again but Barbara Broccoli said she would "figure out a way" to make sure he returned.
The thing is, obviously if Spectre is a success, then BB will do anything to keep Craig.
Mind you if he did retire...............it would put EON into a spin, on what to do next.
Anyway, from what ive interpreted so far, i think Craig will do just one more Bond................though i doubt Mendes will be coming back as a Director......but who knows what will happen in this crazy film business?
I don't know why recently he said he'd only make another Bond film for the money...............coz he surely doesn't need anymore.........blimey he could just walk away now and into retirement. He has somewhat backtracked from his comments about 'rather slitting his wrists than making another Bond film', coz the British public saw it as him being ungrateful...............but i think he was just joking..............but it was still a bloody stupid thing to say to the media, and he should of realised how it would of been interpreted by the public.

I don't understand why since cr people treat him like he is a delicate artist excusing his outbursts

Really really sorry to say this, looks like I'll be watching shittre this week (finally get a chance to watch a bond film in the cinema and it has to be for this ungrateful one (brothers moving away soon (doing it for My brother ( I really don't like that I'm probably lining everyones pockets with My money and I really take high offfense to craigs joke about slitting his wrists (suicide is not funny and people like him should be grateful for seeing more money then I'll ever see in My own d**n lifetime).
Good for eon, they make me sick, craig will come back by which point I hope mars is taking people to live there (so I can get away from this beep).
Soon as I'm back from watching that tripe I'm going to find My dvd of goldeneye and try and get that crap out of My system (did the same with skawful when it was borrowed on dvd (not by Me).

True (now I really need to download the kingsman (still haven't seen that) then when u.n.c.l.e is out I'll watch that too, what's worse is I'm going to watch a film for a franchise I sadly don't really have the love for anymore for the last 10+ years (outside of you guys on here everywhere else is pretty much a non bond praising ground and...yeah can't stand that).Omega wrote:Have a good time may be a crap movie but it's about going with family
