I can see a lot people in this thread are drawing the conclusion (from the press screening reviews), that Spectre is going to be, or is crap.

Skyfall had plenty of good reviews from it's press screening and it had plenty of poor reviews. The cinema going public said the same. However, the film was a huge success. I think it's probable that Spectre, will also be a huge success. I thought Skyfall was incredibly boring, myself.

In fact; many Bond films have received bad review's from journalists, as well as the good one's. Maybe, they've ALL had poor reviews.

Everyone's taste is different. That's why we are not all married to the same woman.

But that doesn't mean he will be Bond. If he is cast, it will be an anti-climactic announcement, because so many people want him as Bond. And, again, he is too well known. I was hoping that UNCLE and Superman along would keep him tied up, and unable to be cast as Bond. But since UNCLE died on it's arse and is unlikely to get a sequel, there is only Superman to keep him occupied.

As for Spectre. i don't have the faith in it's failure that others do. Most of the reviews go from 3 to 5 stars, with most awarding it an average 3.

I think the conclusion I can draw from the reviews so far is that SPECTRE is the most un-like Craig Bond film, and more like previous Bond films (pre-CR).
More action, gadgets, henchmen, humour, etc. Its why some of the pretentious critics are not liking it as much, because it is not like SF, and more like the old Bond formula.

Therefore, I reckon you guys here will probably enjoy SPECTRE more than any previous Craig outing (as long as you can get beyond the actor playing Bond... :P )

I don't think that's why they don't like it , the story is a mess and the pretentious emo drama didn't hit home. There is a lot of stupid stuff especially in the second half that wouldn't work with any bond . The problem may be eon violated the rules the series used to follow. The ending is particularly unbond . But about right for Craig

The Guardian rated all the Bond movies from 1 to 5 stars. They gave both Dalton films 2 stars and said he's boring but then gave CR and Spectre 5 stars,Skyfall got 4 and QOS got 3. THREE. DREI.TRE.TROIS. Whoever wrote that either has no brain or was paid to praise high and mighty Craig.

It won't be a failure. It's still named a Bond film, even though it's not, which automatically will bring out the masses. The key will be REPEAT viewings, and I think a lot of people will move on to the Hunger Games and SW excitement instead of wanting to watch a waxen porcupine screw up over and over going after his childhood foster brother. The premise is so utterly ridiculous to be written into a Bond script and many reviews have stated this very fact. You wonder what the idiots at MGM and SONY were thinking approving this script. Image

Don't be so sure. Skyfall manages withstand Twilight and The Hobbit. Yeah, SW7 will dominate this year's box office, but that b1tch will find a way to make SP to repeat SF's numbers.

man I don't think she got the power in Hollywood to do any more than she does she'll down over two hundred million promoting it but she can't make us buy tickets I don't know what it's like in the uk but here I couldn't tell you a bond movie was coming out . Star Wars is literally everywhere followed by the hunger Games . I don't doubt the names James bond will sell but I don't think the 50th excitement is there . Qos sold tickets too but not as many as it should of. I think that's how this will play out.

Tomorrow Never Dies had a poor script and bad reviews to go with it, despite it opening just before Titanic. It still performed well.

that's a good point but how much could it have done without titanic ? I think it sold fewer tickets than GE .

For spectre the big three to watch are USA, China, and the U.K. The extra bo from those three pushed sf to a billion . Star Wars has the slot bond got n China , closer to the golden week holidays don't know if it will matter or not . Of course hunger games is not allowed in China

I don't really have a standout favourite, but a few names. i haven't seen Friend in anything, but I guess he has the look.
The first interview, the pout one, was so awkward (see: bad), though not Craig's fault.
The second interview, oh look, the black Bond / female Bond question came up. How about 'no'. Tradition isn't a filthy word.

Spectre’s Monica Bellucci ready to embrace the menopause: “It’s going to be great: no periods any more!” “But menopause is a natural thing, it is not a sickness,” she told the Daily Mail. “OK, the body at the beginning will get a bit mad. But after a few months, or one year, it’s going to be OK. This is a natural process of life. I am not nervous about it at all.” “Listen, I had two kids — one when I was 40, one when I was 45. I breastfed for one year, which means I was breastfeeding four years ago. I’m going to move from giving birth to menopause without really realising,” she said, before adding: “Anyway the menopause is going to be great: no periods any more.” This is what she talks about at the ECH-TRE press conference yesterday??????? Broccoli must love that :!: Image Cr-egg is starting to look like Jimmy Durante as he ages and his nose grows: Image

I haven't read any critics slating the script yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is all over the place. Second half of Bond films going down the pan seems to be a trend throughout the 007 film history. There isn't many of the films where I think the 2nd half is better than the 1st anyway, even going right back to the 60's.

Some of the criticism I have read is that SPECTRE is falling back to many of the old clichés, which I personally don't think is a bad thing.

I've read some criticising the choices for story and how this movie lessens the mean of the other three. I did see some of the ones you are talking about Craig trying to do roger Moore and stuff like that.

But you have a point about the second half of bond films. I know how this plays out (it's in the unofficial novel ) a lesser relationship than the one with vesper is the main love interest and other stuff about the main villain , then there the crap at the end of the movie which is completely unbond. I think if the gadgets henchmen girls formula were used alone with out the pseudo psychology I doubt any one would complain about their return
