Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Spielberg sounds quite earnest about doing an Indiana Jones 5 with Ford. Of course, one of the bigger headlines from earlier this year was the announcement that Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm were eyeing Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt to potentially replace Harrison Ford as the headlining star of the Indiana Jones franchise with rumors then that Spielberg might come back to direct. It’s even entirely possible that an Indiana Jones 5 could feature both leading men, offering up a story told between two different time periods.
Although the most recent big screen adventure, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was not entirely a hit with critics, the fourth film in the series managed to gross more than $786 million worldwide when it was released in 2008. Shortly thereafter, George Lucas hinted that plans were underway for a fifth cinematic adventure, but he admitted that he had yet to decide on a MacGuffin (A term popularized by Alfred Hitchcock, referring to a narrative element that drives the story forward, such as the Ark of the Covenant in Raiders of the Lost Ark). Following the sale of Lucasfilm to Walt Disney Pictures and Lucas’ own subsequent retirement, however, hints regarding plans for the future of the franchise have been few and far between. Ford, however, has suggested that he’s quite eager to reprise the role himself, despite turning 73 this year.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
But who is Max Denbigh? Details are scarce. In a short interview with the YouTube channel ScreenSlam in December 2014 Scott revealed only that Denbigh is “a member of the intelligence world. That’s all I can say”. We now only know for sure that Denbigh is the head of the “Centre for National Security” who work with MI6. We are also lead to believe, through a menacing glimpse of his face in the trailer, that he is also a baddie. Twitter users – including the Radio Times feed – were quick to spot a more fleeting clip of the Sherlock actor fighting the new M, Ralph Fiennes’s Gareth Mallory, on top of a skyscraper.
Though the role of supervillain seems firmly occupied by Christoph Waltz as Franz Oberhauser, there are internet rumours that Denbigh is the real Blofeld; Bond’s arch nemesis from Sean Connery films in the Sixties. Other Bond fans engaging with theories have said that Scott’s voice is sandwiched between soundbites of Waltz, and the line: “You came across me so many times and yet you never saw me”, in the trailer was actually from the mouth of Denbigh.
Either way, Scott seems excited about the imminent release of SPECTRE, adding that he has “a feeling” that Sherlock fans will enjoy it.

Indiana Jones 5, starring Harrison Ford, is as likely to ever happen as Under Siege 3 is, with Steven Seagal.

The Cubs now play the NY Mets starting Saturday night for the NL pennant and whoever wins 4 out of 7 games will advance to the 2015 World Series. Did Back To The Future II nail this prediction in 1989? The Cubs have an excellent chance to do it and they have not won the World Series since 1908

Give me Indy 5 instead as the Indy series is like a history book with the beginning and the end. Under Siege 3 would be too laughable. Looking older is not much of an issue for me, but being fat is another story.TROLLY wrote:bjmdds wrote:Spielberg sounds quite earnest about doing an Indiana Jones 5 with Ford. Many well known director's would like to direct one.
Steven Spielberg has always said that he'd love to direct a Bond movie. Nothing ever came of that one.

Here's another one who can't come to terms with reality.TROLLY wrote: Why would MGM or Eon care about Daniel Craig's lack of enthusiasm for playing James Bond. The most important thing to them, is that he keeps on making them lots of money. When his box office appeal drops off, that's the end of him.
Listen, pal. Your troll comments make no sense.
1. By your logic, there was no reason drop Brosnan either. He was raking in the cash for the franchise.
2. The studio big wigs actually do care about Craig's conduct. In general, for any business, bad publicity negatively affects sales. That's why they've been telling him to shut up (and that's putting it mildly). Behind closed doors, that "conversation" was ugly. You can count on that, pal.
Craig's "conduct" speaks volume. He obviously doesn't think highly of these films. He's exposed deep hatred for the role, the series, and, by extension, the fans. Meanwhile, any business strives to minimize risks. In the movie business, prior to a movie's release, the studio brass really have no idea how a movie is going to perform. That's what William Goldman meant when he said that, in Hollywood, "nobody knows anything." They're all dealing with uncertainty. With Spectre, you've got a film here that's riddled with a troubled production, and the last thing they need is for the actor playing Bond (he's the "front end" of the franchise) trashing what they got. Now will Craig's conduct truly affect the box office figures? Maybe, then again, maybe not. From a business standpoint, why deal with that risk?
Point me to a source where Connery actually states he hated being Bond and that he clearly states that "he takes it for granted that Bond was what catapulted him to stardom." Connery, by all accounts I've seen, has nothing but respect for the role and understands that Bond is what made him a star. What he didn't like about his days as Bond were Broccoli and Saltzman, the lengthy shooting schedule of the films, and the overall direction that the films were taking. But the role itself is something he cherished. Screenwriter Lorenzo Semple Jr. said it succinctly when he describes his meeting with Connery in Marbella back in 82/83, during the development of Never Say Never Again:Sean Connery hated being James Bond, towards the end of his tenure. Even to this day, he takes it for granted that Bond was what catapulted him to stardom.
"Sean has a great fondness for James Bond," he observes. "It's really what made him a star. His other pictures generally haven't been big box office successes. He's still proud of his career, though, and with some reason. He has always selected his own films, and he criticizes other actors who have been ruined by doing what their agents said."

In an article for Variety, Semple recalls:
"Bond was very special to him and he was very careful about Bond. In the end, he loved the idea of Bond coming back as an older man and he was in.”

You mean Sean Connery, the guy who said:
Let me straighten you out on this. The problem in interviews of this sort is to get across the fact, without breaking your arse, that one is not Bond, that one was functioning reasonably well before Bond, and that one is going to function reasonably well after Bond. There are a lot of things I did before Bond--like playing the classics on stage--that don't seem to get publicized. So you see, this Bond image is a problem in a way and a bit of a bore, but one has just got to live with it.

Good Morning America on ABC this morning did a quick topic talk on Cr-egg's tantrum and they all stated it makes Cr-egg look foolish given the wealth and notoriety he has received from the role.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Yeah, that Connery. The one who never said, in that quote you pulled out, that he hated the Bond role. He doesn't express the disdain for the role like the way Craig has. In that quote, he's just expressing the downside that comes with the role, namely that the Bond image gets in the way of other roles and eclipses his other work because of its larger-than-life essence. But that doesn't mean he hates it. If anything, he expresses affirmation of the role by saying "one has just got to live with it."Gala Brand wrote:You mean Sean Connery, the guy who said:

Re Under Siege 3, maybe you can view Executive Decision (1996), where Seagal had a minor part, as the third Under Siege movie?
Those films are not bad by the way, I think the second film is my favourite, the one where they're on a train and the villain has a laser equipped satellite. Rather Bond like actually.
The scene at the end where the train crashes is impressive, it was filmed with a model train but it looks very authentic.

A bit slow on the uptake, maybe, but I just realised that SPECTRE opens on a Monday. Is this some underhanded ploy to ensure that its entire first week's gross gets counted as its "opening weekend"?

Did a Bond film ever open on a Monday worldwide before?..............“Look, we’ve been working on the script for almost three years,” Broccoli says. “Whatever came out wasn’t anything. That was the production draft.”
