September 25th..........Smith, who adamantly denied recording the Spectre song in July, also posted a pre-order link to purchase his Bond theme as a CD or vinyl single. Both formats are backed by an instrumental version of the track. "Writing's on the Wall" is set to debut on September 25th.Omega wrote:Is there a link for the song?

Blah blah blah. Pity Poor Wittle Pierce all over again. The more I hear this same old song, the less I believe it. So once more, with feeling: The man lost the part all because he shot off his mouth to the press when EON (sensibly) didn't hire Tarantino like PB wanted, PB got butthurt by that slight to his ego, and like a petulant child insulted his NEW Boss's (Babs) "creative paralysis" right after the Old Boss (Dana Wilson, her MOTHER) died. Yeah, real perfect timing there. So only after Babs secured the services of new-guy Craggy with her sales pitch to the REAL Bosses of Sony/Columbia/MGM/UA etc. of how this underdog would be the Next Big Thing and know his place, EON fired the ungrateful, disrespectful, aging troublemaker PB with a clear conscience. QED.FormerBondFan wrote:Because the way she treated the last traditional Bond actor (who was extremely player after the Cold War and for the younger generation), rotten dogs are what Babs should cast as Bond, not Henry, Mike Fassbender, Hugh, Bale or any of the classy traditional tall and dark-haired types.bjmdds wrote:If Broccoli wants him FBF, she will get him and he will GRAB the opportunity and appreciate it vs. Cr-egg, who hates being Bond, has no clue as to why he is Bond, but loves getting rich as Bond.FormerBondFan wrote:He should stay as Superman so that he would be too good for Babs' corrupted regime.ml94 wrote:Henry should be bond NOT superman...
Henry and these guys are too good for Babs' regime.
If it were any other employee (valued or not) in a Major Business who pulled the same crap, the consensus would be that they got exactly what they deserved. But to you and your reductive-thinking ilk fmb, this doesn't count cause it happened to The GREAT Pierce Brosnan, SAVIOUR of James Bond 007, so therefore it's a Grave Injustice and part of some Evil Conspiracy to hold him down in favor of the almighty Craggy and all that kind of jazz. Well I still don't buy it.
Sure, Craggy comes off as an uncouth douchebag in HIS interviews, but that's just Babs showing favoritism towards her pet by letting him "vent his frustrations" as an example of how "tolerant" and "all-inclusive" the new-EON is towards their Shinning Star's "down-to-earth flaws" and highlighting how *special* Craggy is to get away with it. And by extension, undercutting YOUR assertions that PB was so badly-treated for "publicly complaining" with the display of DC NOT being punished for doing the same kind of "public complaining", and therefore PB was really let go because "his time was up" (which ain't true either, but that's neither here nor there).
But whether or not you (or anyone else) want to believe my theory of PB's firing doesn't really matter. It simply makes more sense to me than YOUR broken-record bleating, fmb. And I can certainly live with that, "true" or not.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Brosnan is past the hatred he publicly held in 2012, I think is was 2006-7 with Jon Stewart he said f'em meaning Eon.
I think he got a bad deal when essentially babs fired him, Sony (the evil pascal) wanted him to comeback before CR went in to production. Pascal also wanted Clive whatshisname as bond.
After Brosnan was fired I never got why some fans thought the only justice was for him to return to bond, or have a monster hit out side bond to show how wronged he was.
If dalton and Brosnan could come back in on off films I'd be down with it. Sort of older bonds in a rock like movie . But he's done with it he tried to make his own spy franchise and looks like he failed. To be fair so did guy Ritchie and dozens of others . Jack Ryan reboot a lot of money and publicity , died as well

Let us not forget the 'Take this job and shove it' interview Brosnan did in 1987. And if that wasn't enough, in 1989 he sought out Kevin McClory to try and get another rogue Bond film off the ground. Would it really that that hard to imagine that Brosnan was only hired for his popularity (to get the series up and running again), and not because EON wanted him? Then, at the first opportunity she gets after Cubby's passing, Barbara dumps Borsnan in favour of a Bond she wants.
I would say that after those two acts which could be seen as disrespectful, Brosnan should count himself very lucky to have been cast in the first place.

I'm not so sure he sought out McClory. McClory was a opportunist, while he had some legitimacy to his claims, he often made claims to cooperation and association he did not have.Daltonite Toothpaste wrote:Let us not forget the 'Take this job and shove it' interview Brosnan did in 1987. I would say that after those two acts which could be seen as disrespectful, Brosnan should count himself very lucky to have been cast in the first place.
Pierce had the popularity for the role, Cubby hired him twice so he thought there was something there beyond surface qualifications. If there were any question of Pierce's loyalty and involvement helping McClory I doubt Cubby would have looked twice at him.
It seems the idea Barbara did not having controlling say in casting until after her parents passed has stuck a never with some. From all I can tell this theory seems to hold up eventhou she was a producer and face of the franchise, she lacked the control, perhaps desire to make changes.
Certainly Pierce did not help thing with his public feuding with the Broccoli family until recently. He still gets his jabs in here and there, most recently suggesting the woman who said Hugh Jackman was "too fey" would never allow a homosexual Bond. I know, I know, the reality is this is what the opinions makers with the power to shape public opinion believe should be. Barbara herself seeks a place among these circles, I honestly would not put anything past her. She pretty much destroyed Bond on whim, yet somehow were are supposed to believe there are some lines left that can not be crossed.
Anthony Horowitz, a writer I've greatly admired, got has lost himself in the desire to make Bond more politically appropriate. As have several writers taking up the 007 pen recently. My point is not to underestimate the power of wanting to be accepted or seen as on the "right side of history"
As Brosnan goes I have no issue with his detractors to a point. He does not have to be everybodys' cup of tea, however he is/was not a Machiavellian mastermind who threatened the sanctity of Bond.
In the end Pierce may be viewed as a controversial figure because of long history with Bond (1986 to 2006) and the bitter disappointments at the beginning and end of his time as Bond. I can accept that without major issue, however trying to imagine him as something more sinister is taking it a tad too far.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Good points. And it's amazing how those in the Brosnan-is-an-Ahole camp can talk without reinforcing assertions with facts. Look, I'm no major Brosnan fan, but I've read extensively on the whole McClory/Thunderball history. Brosnan never sought out and tried to get things going with McClory for a rival picture. Right around the promo for TWINE, when the whole McClory/new Rival Bond movie surfaced (leading to that Sony-backed project, which led to the MGM/Sony lawsuit), Brosnan said in an interview that McClory approached him in the early 90s. Obviously, this was a strategic thing from Eon: get our current star out to bring up this tidbit to defuse any thunder that a rival Bond film would have. In The Battle for Bond, right there at the start of Chapter 41, author Robert Sellers states clearly, "In 1992, newspapers reported McClory's proposed plan to bring Bond to TV in the form of 26 one-hour adventures to be shot in Britain and around Europe. Under consideration to play 007 were Lewis Collins, Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan. Like McClory's previous statements, the rhetoric hadn't changed, nor the tactics, nor indeed the end result as again the project never materialised. To the public in general, it must have seemed that the only people getting rich off McClory's feud with Eon were the lawyers."Blowfeld wrote: I'm not so sure he sought out McClory. McClory was a opportunist, while he had some legitimacy to his claims, he often made claims to cooperation and association he did not have.

Yeah, Brosnan isn't exactly the sinister type, that wily Hollywood person who only wants to cut a deal on his terms, for his gain. Wait, I just described every person in Hollywood.he is/was not a Machiavellian mastermind who threatened the sanctity of Bond.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
That's a real ignorant statement to make, that's saying classics like gold finger, live and let die, the spy who loved Me, golden eye, the world is not enough etc were nothing but jokes, skyfall was an abysmal song as it is and it actually put Me to sleep when it played and no bond theme no matter how bad it was (even you know My name (I merely forwarded that part or tried to forget about how unbond like it was) has done that to Me before.bjmdds wrote:"Sam and Jimmy have written the most inspirational song for Spectre and with Sam's extraordinary vocal performance, 'Writing's on the Wall' will surely be considered one of the greatest Bond songs of all time," Spectre producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said in a statement.
I've heard the writing's on the wall and where are the lyrics?, the song itself sounds ok but not really fitting at all for a bond theme.
Although obviously I'm no fan of the latest bond and never will be I will say this if you're making a film about the return of spectre you should be using a song that's sinister at best or along those lines, or get Shirley Bassey or Tina Turner out of retirement and have them do the theme (if Whitney Huston (R.I.P) was still here today she would be perfect singing a bond theme and always suspected she would be.)
As for Brosnan fine like Craig, Dalton or whoever there will be fans (like Me) and those who aren't and that's fine but I hate hearing that he killed bond, he brought bond back from the dead with goldeneye yet I keep hearing craig with casino royale did the same (bs

Saw the latest bond trailer (against My will) when watching the maze runner sequel on friday and still very unimpressed by it, you can try and bring back the gadgets (which seem more like batmans ones now (oh look bonds car can set another car on fire (oh look it's batman), bond can't be trusted again, bond can't trust people (AGAIN, we get it he hates authority, the world....yet he works for said organisation), more personal history (what next, bring back oddjob or jaws and say he was bonds uncle....because why the beep not huh), spectre in the original it was personal because bond lost his love and wife and realised why he could never have that life, what bloody motivation does bond have now, he barely knew vesper (forgot about her after qos or shortly after) why should he even be assed to go look for them....did spectre take a dump on bonds door or something, sell him expired milk..I couldn't care less if bond today went in the building with spectre and blew him and everyone else up, I'm not invested in the character anymore, I no longer want to be him, I loathe him and what he's become today, give Downey Junior an english accent, tone down his tony stark persona a bit and give him the d**n tux atleast he would make it fun and enjoyable again.
I'm tired of all this emo, angsty beep, enough's going on at the minute and I need something to cheer Me up..wake Me up when the next star wars is out... again sorry guys I know I've said it before and hope I don't sound like a broken record but bond used to be about escapism not escaping to reality, I might have aspergers and I am socially awkward but give Me the role, suit, money and I'd gladly try and act My heart out and be proud to play this character, it's depressing enough we have god knows how many more films with Craig and I'm not sure we'll ever see another great bond again in My lifetime, we were sadly wrong with skyfall and I just know this crap will once again be successful when it bloody well doesn't deserve to be.

Boxoffice.com: Daniel Craig returns as James Bond in Spectre this November. Will Skyfall's massive success continue with this new installment? BoxOffice takes a closer look.
Spectre
(Sony)
PROS:
- There's a ton of mainstream goodwill following the commercial and critical hit that was Skyfall. That's bound to help Spectre get off to a great start.
- Christoph Waltz as a Bond villain sounds like a winning combination to us.
- After a lackluster summer, Sony has a lot riding on this one and an aggressive marketing campaign is sure to happen.
- Reactions on Facebook and Twitter to the trailers have been positive.
CONS:
- If fans label the film as "not as good as Skyfall" that could hinder grosses.
- The impact of Star Wars anticipation could be felt pretty early in November.
- Opening against The Peanuts Movie won't be easy. Families with young children may skip Spectre in order to take the whole family to the movies.
Boxoffice.com's prediction for this film below:
Spectre Nov 6, 2015
$96,000,000 opening weekend in USA------$260,000,000 cumulative in USA

Lol nah, but it will take a lot for anything to be one of the greatest bond songs of all time and after hearing it it's far from the greatest (reminds Me a lot of qos theme).Kristatos wrote:It's the usual hype, nothing more.
