Welcome to the forum BrosnanIsBond007!
Kind of a coincidence, because I also got here through a link on IMDb back in the summer.

Even on DTD? They'd love that.

I kind of rate Connery, Moore and Brosnan equally on my list. Then Dalton. Then Lazenby. Craig doesn't even deserve to have his name mentioned in the same breath or sentence as the others.
Even pushing 60, Brosnan is still far more suited to be Bond than DC ever has been or will be.

Yes. I was wrongly banned from there. As it turns out, it was probably for the best? I don't think I could have continued to put up with the DC fanboy crap much longer?

They banned FROSTY too for no reason. He's a member here but we haven't seen him for a while. AJB wasn't as bad as some other places but it's definitely better to post here

I haven't even visited that sight for at least 3 or 4 years now. Wasn't even sure if it was still in operation anymore? I figured that it probably was, but wasn't sure?
I liked AJB better than CBn, until all of the BS that a couple of the mods over there started up with me. I'm still a registered member on CBn, but I haven't been on there in at least 3 or 4 years either.

I'm agree with the idea Pierce was a very good 007. My problem with his era is the fact he played the part by numbers.

Welcome to the forum. I often hear this criticism of Brosnan, but to my mind, taking a little from each of the previous actors who has played Bond is a better approach than Daniel Craig throwing out everything that has gone before, so that the character he plays is unrecognizable as Bond.WXN Jamaica wrote:I'm agree with the idea Pierce was a very good 007. Re: Pierce Brosnan was the best 007
I agree with what Saint said. There was absolutely no need for completely changing everything Bond was about. DAD although not the brightest moment in the franchises history did excellently in the terms of money. That proofs that Bond formula was still very much the thing. There was no point for this crappy reboot since the franchise obviously wasn't in trouble. The money was here again in bigger amounts than ever,Brosnan was generally accepted in the role...
actually when they announced Brosnan is not coming back people started to rave about it. See? No one minded the charismatic, sophisticated Bond so why change it? Actually I read how during the shooting of TND the press highlighted that there were problems with the shooting and normal people on the street started to worry about it to the point were the press conference was made and Brosnan had to make a statement how there are no problems with the shooting. Now,that wasn't so long ago-Bond still thrilled and excited with his charm, his elegance, his martini, his tuxedo!
And for the whole "was the reboot planned" before-I would say no because even Judi Dench made a statement somewhere after 2002 that Brosnan is coming back-he said it himself that they first told him he is coming back and apparently Sony tried to get back Brosnan on board even after...
It was all the wish of Babs because she suddenly saw Craig as an ideal Bond and the fact that she called him the greatest Bond ever-her father must be rooling in his grave. And in the same interview she bullshited how it was so hard to tell Pierce he is no longer needed. Yeah,I'm sure it was Broccoli since you didn't even call the man yourself. Lord, she is so stupid. To make matters even worse Craig doesn't even wanna be Bonf he said it himself while Brosnan said that he would gladly come back even after they fired him...I once read how Babs said her father didn't wanna sell Bond to another studio because he thought that would ruin everything about him...maybe it's time to do it because she ruined everything she possibly could...

As for other forums-I got the impression abj was the most decent of them all... definitely more decent than mi6 or CBn... although mi6 is the worst-no doubt.

My opinion is that most of the older fans who were on the forums before 2006 don't even go there anymore because I just find it impossible that even partof those people who were mad about Craig's casting(so that mean ALL) now his passionate supporters.

That is so sad for Brosnan! Everyone I know in person and online really like his take as Bond.Veronica wrote:I agree with what Saint said. What you mentioned is so much like George Lucas and his Star Wars. Lucas was killing SW with the prequels and instead of hearing out the fans. He practically gave us his midfinger because we hated the prequels. But the fans win when Disney yanked SW out of him.
I hope someone will buy over the Bond franchise. We definitely won't get Craig as Bond if that happens.

Re: Pierce Brosnan was the best 007
He's the 5 best (which is to say, the last best). My problem with Brosnan, is that he never really did anything with the role. That might have been fine when he was Bond, when the BO of his films mattered, but looking back, when you compare him to the 3 previous Bonds, his era on the whole, comes of as bland.

Re: Pierce Brosnan was the best 007
I disagree. Brosnan is best second to Connery, in my opinion. Sometimes not bringing "something new to the table" doesn't mean it's a bad thing. He combined the best of all his predecessors in his Bond and it paid off in my opinion. Now that the contemporary reviews are giving him a "mixed" reception, that will change in time. Back when his films came out, many of them gave his experience positive reviews (there even is an article where a reviewer says Tomorrow Never Dies is the best Bond film to date). While Dalton has his charismatic approach at a more dramatic Bond, sometimes he did it painfully appalling, like in Licence To Kill. One of the reasons I don't hold it at a high regard as much as Bond fans overall do, but its watchablity is indeed high as it contains some very genuine Bond scenes, moments and elements (the stealth scenes such as Bond rappelling down Sanchez's casino, for example). Roger Moore comes third on my list (Rest his soul, what a wonderful man!), whose films I do thoroughly enjoy (the middle three being my favorite Moore trio).

Re: Pierce Brosnan was the best 007
Brosnan and Moore became regular punching bags after Craig became Bond and really-how else could he look so superior to all the others(with the possible exception of Connery)? Dalton and Lazenby are the underdogs and even though Lazenby's sole outing is now held in high regard he is still thought of as the weak link and Dalton is solely linked with Craig now because they did "Fleming Bond".
(If this whole Craig era established one thing than it's-Dalton did it first and he did it better.)
So that leaves Brosnan and Moore to take all the blame of why the franchise was so much worse before Craig while in reality both are teriffic Bonds while Craig has all the finesse of a butcher.
