The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The good news: Amy Pascal is history. Having been an executive in a fortune 500 company (I'm retired now), I've been in too many board room meetings to know what the powers-that-be at Sony went through. You can be sure there was a lot of anger, fuming anger, not just with the poor management of IT security but also with Pascal and the PR beating that Sony took from this fiasco. Expect more upheavals. And anyone who believes that everything's fine with Pascal because she got a position as a producer is delusional. That sugar-coated announcement they gave her is nothing more than corporate talk for "we've fired her for being a moron racist and dumped her in a situation that puts a friendly mask over our company, because but we don't want the image of being sexists, cutthroat bigots."
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Well, well...as I expected, more upheavals in the works at Sony.

How does Sony usurp Broccoli's influence on future real Bond films after this current junk?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Better if Sony has nothing to do with Bond. If MGM had control of the franchise, the last decade would have been very different.bjmdds wrote:How does Sony usurp Broccoli's influence on future real Bond films after this current junk?

The HMSS Weblog has a new name: The Spy Command. It can still be found here:
https://hmssweblog.wordpress.com/
I don't want to go into detail about the reasons. For years, the blog was the main thing HMSS had going for it. The parent site hasn't had a new issue in 2011 and last year it went dark. The blog made a declaration of independence of sorts. But it was still necessary to change the name.

I don't think people realise how much effort it takes to keep a blog or site running I've heard of more than a few popular sites closing up just cause the main owner got sick or was tired of spending so much time maintaining the place, then there is server cost.
So if spy command has the people who want to make it work go for it! Keep a good thing going!

imo sony movies were so predictable you could hear the plot line and know this tired reboot was a sony product. Sony has to clean house to stay in the business or stay in the business just long enough to sell the movie part of there company did more than it's worth now.Atticus wrote:Well, well...as I expected, more upheavals in the works at Sony.

As for bond if these idiots were not partially financing and distributing it the Sony hack would never touched bond because nobody would be sharing the plot or costs with them.
Maybe mgm can sue Sony if sp fails To break a billion

I'll keep that in mind. I'd certainly be open to a guest review when SPECTRE comes out.Omega wrote:Ok. You got you're hands full it sounds like.

Last time, the blog ran a half-dozen guest reviews. (They were commissioned for the Her Majesty's Secret Servant site; when they never put it up, suddenly they wanted to see if they could go on the blog.)
The problem was there was no variety. They were all rave reviews. They were also way too long, but that's another story.
This time out, there's no way I'm going to do run that many guest reviews. But I'd be open to one guest rave review, and one guest critical review in addition to whatever review I write.

Was she the main problem with Sony? Her leadership or is she the scape goat for the real people in charge? Not that she was not a idiot who caused most of these prolems.Atticus wrote:The good news: Amy Pascal is history. OK way past time for the media to start talking about the "Bond Curse". They had to passed the QOS problem count by now.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Pascal was a big problem at Sony, and at the end of the day, the buck stops with her because she's the head honcho. So yeah, she was the main problem, along with her other idiotic cohorts. First, those racist comments in work emails exposed her poor judgement. Such conduct doesn't reflect the corporate values of Sony. She as a leader should set an example by performing her job according to the company's values. She also green-lighted The Interview, a film concerning the killing of the North Korean leader, which would obviously lead to controversy from the outset, and so that calls into question (again) her judgement. And of late, there's been a series of flops under her wing. This points to how clueless she is about the new Hollywood economics and an outdated vision. In relation to the Bond franchise, she's a staunch ally of Barbara Broccoli (another loon as we all know) and supported the ridiculous exploding budget of Spectre ($300 million plus) and went ahead anyway into production without a finished script. Ironically, in one of the hacked emails, she was disappointed with an upcoming film starring Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone, citing that she would never proceed with a movie without a finished script. This was her reaction to a November test screening, yet at the time Spectre was about to go into production without a completed script. She's obviously delusional.Dr. No wrote:Was she the main problem with Sony? Her leadership or is she the scape goat for the real people in charge? Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
In context to Sony, the upheaval at the joint will bring about new leadership. Which means a new mentality. Now, on the downside, it could be that the new executive team will be a bunch of morons who have the same mentality as Pascal's. But how likely is that scenario? Bottom line: she's history, and based on that article I linked to, Sony is making changes to its leadership. No Pascal means no staunch supporter for Barbara Broccoli. Plus, Sony's contract with MGM to release Bond movies actually ends with Spectre. You can be sure that MGM wants total control from there on. Based on those leaked emails, the MGM executives weren't exactly brimming with joy over Broccoli's management of the Spectre production. So there's a lot of potential here for change. As I said originally, this is good news, because it's a step in the right direction.Omega wrote:I don't know they can totally, but they do own more bond rights than eon so if they ever got their courage up who knows what they could do.bjmdds wrote:How does MGM take over the direction of future films and eliminate Broccoli?
