Considering that she and Mikey basically own Bond, I don't think she'll be as easy to get rid of as Pascal.

Actually I think it more her than Mikey.

On the other hand MGM has successfully cornered more of the Bond rights then Cubby could manage. I can't imagine them being content with the every half decade schedule when in theory they could launch their own Marvelesque empire. Not that it is coming soon, at this point I think they will be happy if the next movie keeps them out of bankruptcy, once they are in good shape again and if there is a upset about in Bond, new actor, lawsuit, production halt, who knows, this is when I'd guess MGM would try their hand at their own Bond franchise. If the Bond name continues to be billion dollar earners I don't imagine they will hold off forever.

All of this if fantasy on my part. As other people pointed out before the franchise could sustain more then one Bond at a time, say a retro and present day. (Bond and Bournd). A thousand variations there in, however what has worked is the traditional set up where EON produces the movies, MGM finances and shares in the profits, history tells us MGM only gets upset when the money trickles to a drip as it did during the 1980s. (Rumour was at that time the last Dalton movie was in the red end of 1989 and the previous movies were scraping by. *LTK did turn a profit by the time GE or TND was out.*)

In theory EON does not have to produce the Bond movies, any production company could be hired by Danjaq, or the rights holders (TB & CR belong to MGM as does half of Danjaq).
Also in theory EON is a production company that is more than Bond, owning the rights to several non Bond properties however as far as I know they have never made a movie not related to Ian Fleming.

Ah, I don't know. I would love for Barbara to step aside allowing MGW's children to take the lead for the next generation of Bond. We don't know they would be any better than Barbara. For all we know they could be the cooks behind the scenes hiring the drama writers and emo cast.
If they (MGW's children) are competent, we've certainly seen no signs form how EON is being run, even given they have to deal with their mad auntie. It's a family business as long as it stays that way, and performance is trumped by family ties we will continue to get screw ups running the show.

My first melancholic rant of the new year :yay:

Happy new year!
Hope it is a good one.

By this time next year we will have endured another Craig cinematic offering. I'm sure the standard-bearers are already on standby as are the reporters and fawning critics.

God,. I really am morose this year.

Never mind this sad fanboy who has not seen a proper 007 movie in over a decade. I truly, sincerely wish all of my mates a happy new year.

Influenced by what passes for Bond?

Happy new year, fellow Classic Bond fans. Here's hoping that 2015 brings us the news we all want to hear, the end of this pretentious nonsense.

Unless Babs is removed from her position, then consider that James Bond is not for us anymore.

Forbes:"Beginning now and taking place over much of 2015, the Spectre shoot will burn through London, Mexico City, Erfoud (a date-palm farming oasis in Saharan Morocco), and three places in Austria, Sölden, Lake Altaussee, and Obertilliach, though not in that order. At this writing the advance praetorian guard of director Mendes’ camera and stunt battalions are scouting and all will be shortly shooting in Sölden. They’re mapping the Ötz valley for the inevitable ski and/or snowmobile sequences in Sölden’s glacier-ringed chunk of the Alps, and they have rented Sölden’s cantilevered, sheer-glass Ice Q restaurant for four consecutive days of filming early next month.
Ice Q – no, it’s not the name of an alpine rapper – doesn’t seem like it’s going to remain a restaurant in the film. At 10,000 feet atop Gaislachkogl peak, Sölden’s big ski mountain, and situated in an all-glass house next to the gondola shed with heavy cables running out the back, Ice Q has all the dramatic sweep of a trademark Bond-villain HQ. There’s lots of steel, walls of good glass that could be gloriously shattered with gunfire or other projectiles, lots of cold architectural muscle against the elements, and breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. Plus, there’s a spooky-looking steel cross atop it all. I could see a henchman strung up from that."...........(OHMSS remake for Bond 24? There is nothing new here. It appears to be a retelling of the franchise to those under 20 who never saw the original films.)

That will be a difficult, but not impossible task to achieve. Without Bond, she is relegated to ZILCH in Hollywood, and the crumb knows it. The franchise defines her, and gives her omnipotent relevance over an iconic fictional character.

While we have to go through another year of corruption thanks to DC's 4th virus, we got Kingman: The Secret Service, Mission: Impossible 5 and three actioners from Pierce (The Coup, The Moon and the Sun, and Survivor)

Kingsman originally was set to come out in October. It later got pushed back to February. Anyway, trailers have been out for a while.

That's what I said for years, and this is why it's pointless to hope that the traditional classic tall and dark-haired Bond will return. As long as Babs remains in her position, you might as well consider James Bond colorless role for all species (including robots).

I wonder if money would be enough to buy her and MGW out, unless she is so wealthy that she does not care about finances and only lives for her 'recognition' in Hollywood............Jaguar is taking their "Good to be Bad" marketing campaign to the next level. The English automaker's sinister C-X75 supercar concept will be the vehicle of choice for the villain in the upcoming James Bond flick "Spectre," Autocar reports.

The Jag C-X75 will face off against Bond's brand new Aston Martin DB10 that was commissioned specially for the 24th installment in the film series.

According to the automotive publication, sources "involved with the project" report that the supercar concept is undergoing modifications for the upcoming film. This includes the removal of the C-X75's 800 horsepower hybrid powertrain. In its place will be Jaguar's trusty 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine, from the company's phenomenal F-Type sports car.
