Maybe Broccoli's gardener will be given the role after a few roles in the hay with her?The Sweeney wrote:I don't think Fassbender or Cavil will be the next Bond when Craig steps down.
They are both way too famous and established as movie actors now, particularly now Cavil is too tightly associated with another hero franchise.
The next Bond will be someone virtually unknown, someone we have never heard of, or at best someone who is relatively well known in a TV role, but for nothing famous in a movie role. This has been the case for every actor to have played Bond, and I don't think EON will change this trend in the future (I doubt they'll want to fork out the cash either for a well-known face).

Merry Christmas
I quite like the idea of Fassbender as Bond but after several years of Daniel Craig I'd probably take anyone now. It's just a shame they didn't go with Cavill for Casino Royale.

I'll put my $.02 in on the subject (actually I put $.50 worth in my rant, but to save you all from rereading I'll give the abridged version) I like Idris as an actor but as Bond? No. For many of the same reasons Craig doesn't work. He's a little too rough around the edges. Which is great for a role as a "tough as nails" police detective, or mob boss but not Bond. Also he would not be Bond he would be "Black Bond" which would distract from his work and skew the public's perception of his efforts.bjmdds wrote:Anyone? Could a Black Bond work? Perhaps but not with the current regime at EON, Sony, or MGM running the show, and remove the black supporting cast as it would just be a "blacksplotation" version of Bond. The actor would also need to be extremely posh, perhaps classically trained in order to make people forget about the change of race.

To be honest, a part of me would find it hilarious if they cast a black actor as James Bond and some fans were unhapy over at Cbn and MI6. They'd have a taste of what we've felt like during the nightmare run of Daniel Charisma Craig. I don't think it will happen though, certainly not Idris as he'll be too old by the time Craig moves on.

It doesn't matter who plays James Bond, considering the DC is a now popular Bond.James wrote:Merry ChristmasI quite like the idea of Fassbender as Bond but after several years of Daniel Craig I'd probably take anyone now. It's just a shame they didn't go with Cavill for Casino Royale.

let me preface this by saying I'm a progressive liberal living in the United States. No matter what games each side wants to play with race, turning BOND black, woman or (especially) gay (since part of the legend is womanizing) is just plain stoopid, simply destroys the historic 007 rendering the whole thing meaningless. The Craig films have done enough damage, to those who can discern anyway. When we see the n word in Huckleberry Finn, do we demand it be taken out? no we accept it for what was. That's not saying Bond has to be portrayed as an out and out racist (as Fleming most definitely was) in the films, which he never was, maybe apart from ordering Quarrel to fetch his shoes in Dr. No (and there have been notorious gay slurs in the early films such as Bond dispatching the final villain in Diamonds Are Forever), but neither do we have to go completely in the other direction and make Bond black (woman, gay). To the argument that Bond is a fictional character thus "anyone" should be able to play him, I reply in one of the books Fleming described Bond as looking like Hoagey Carmichael. Go take a look at Hoagey Carmichael. He ain't black. As for Daniel Craig vs. previous Bonds, I always laughed when critics applauded any return to the "true" Bond when in fact the Fu Manchu type plots were part of Fleming as well, Drax building a missile to turn on London, Dr. No and his giant pet squid, SPECTRE stealing atom bombs, Goldfinger robbing Fort Knox, Blofeld and his plot to use a bevy of beautiful women to destroy life on the planet, Blofeld and his Japanese suicide garden . . . I'm another who wishes Cavill had been chosen, he at least would have been the better Bond in terms of the classic look (my GAWD, the jug ears on Craig, sometimes he looks like he belongs in Lord of the Rings, not 007), but apparently in addition to wanting to destroy her father's version of Bond, Barbara Broccoli also had the hots for Craig.

Broccoli's lusting loins for Cr-egg probably sealed Brosnan's and Cr-egg's respective fates OK, no doubt about it, and the way she fawns all over him at press conferences, admitting she wants his shirt off in the films just proves that point, as her moronic half brother just nodded and laughed about her attraction for him.okconnery wrote:let me preface this by saying I'm a progressive liberal living in the United States.
