Put a Bond actor in another actor's film
Put a Bond actor in another actor's film
I stole this idea from a Doctor Who game over on Gallifrey Base. In that, you have to put a Doctor in another Doctor's story. I thought I'd do the same for Bond. So...the idea is simple: you take each of the Bond actors from Connery to Brosnan (DCINB) and have them star in another Bond's film. For example, you might put Connery in OHMSS, or Moore in Doctor No. The game is a lot more interesting if you explain your reasoning, instead of just making a list.

Nice idea. I will try to add to it.
How about Sean in CR which almost happens instead of the campy 1967 movie. There supposedly was a half way decent serious script floating around back then as well.

A twenty-something year old Dalton in OHMSS. That would be interesting to see.

Dalton in GoldenEye.
GoldenEye feels, to me, very much geared to Dalton's style, anyway. Dalton's Bond in the tank, would have been all kinds of badass. And with Dalton having already established himself in two previous films, it would have lent the Bond/ M scenes more clout.

Re: Put a Bond actor in another actor's film
I would love to have seen this, especially if it had a John Barry score in place of that Eric Serra monstrosity, but I have to wonder whether it would have been as successful at the box office with Dalton in the role. Coming back after a 6-year hiatus, especially following one of the lowest-grossing Bond films in the series' history, it probably needed a fresh start with a new Bond, sad to say.Daltonite Toothpaste wrote:Dalton in GoldenEye.

George Lazenby in The Man With Golden Gun because it would have suited Lazenby's b movie/Robert Clouse etc style.
Timothy Dalton in For Your Eyes Only as it would have been nice to see a yoinger Dalton as Bond, and Octopussy and A View to a Kill are classic camp Sir Roger vehicles.

We already had something like this. DC in GE (though not Bond fan but a video game) anyone?

I'd swap OHMSS and DAF, putting Connery in the former and Lazenby in the latter. Not only would it be neater chronologically, making Connery Bond throughout the '60s, but I think Lazenby's lack of dramatic training would be less of a problem in DAF than it was in OHMSS.

Totally agree, Lazenby would have had a better time easing himself into the role of Bond if he began with DAF and may have gone on to do others.Kristatos wrote:I'd swap OHMSS and DAF, putting Connery in the former and Lazenby in the latter. This would have made that scene far more symbolic with a new M talking to an established Bond rather than a freshman Bond.Daltonite Toothpaste wrote:And with Dalton having already established himself in two previous films, it would have lent the Bond/ M scenes more clout.
Definately, Dalton was badass enough driving trucks in the climax of LTK, imagine the guy in a tank!Daltonite Toothpaste wrote:GoldenEye feels, to me, very much geared to Dalton's style, anyway. Dalton's Bond in the tank, would have been all kinds of badass.

Roger Moore in Diamonds Are Forever. He has said that's another Bond film he would have liked to be in.

That would be bizarre. Imagine the juxtaposition of Dalton's Bond with the shenanigans of DAF going on around him.

Re: Put a Bond actor in another actor's film
Connery's complete lack of enthusiasm, as well as him being noticeably out of shape add to the films weird tone. The sombre approach that Dalton took would have been at more odds with the film around him. Though I would have been all for a harder edged take on the DAF sttory with Dalton.Kristatos wrote:No more bizarre than Connery being in it.Daltonite Toothpaste wrote:That would be bizarre. Re: Put a Bond actor in another actor's film
I have speculated before on various "what if" scenarios, including "what if Dalton had played Bond for 20 years from 1969?" The consensus of opinion seems to be that he would have been forced to adapt to the excesses of the '70s, rather than the films adapting to suit him.Daltonite Toothpaste wrote:Connery's complete lack of enthusiasm, as well as him being noticeably out of shape add to the films weird tone. Apparently, Moore was considered for The Living Daylights, then Brosnan afterward. Script changes were made once Dalton was finally cast, but I've still heard some fans refer to The Living Daylights as a Roger Moore Bond with Timothy Dalton.FormerBondFan wrote:Imagine if Rog did TLD.

I disagree, I think they could have gone the other way, there were thrillers in the 1970's.Kristatos wrote:I have speculated before on various "what if" scenarios, including "what if Dalton had played Bond for 20 years from 1969?"
