Captain America opening weekend in the USA: under/over $100 million? I say OVER and it will top Spiderman next month as well.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Thursday Update: Captain America: The Winter Soldier got off to a strong start on Thursday night. The movie earned $10.2 million, which is a noticeable improvement over Thor: The Dark World's $7.1 million.
In comparison, Iron Man 3 took in $15.6 million, while The Avengers banked $18.7 million. For all three of these titles, Thursday shows accounted for eight to nine percent of the weekend gross; if Captain America follows this pattern, it will wind up between $110 million and $120 million for the three-day frame.

The tagline is what makes it for me. I can just imagine Statham saying it.Daltonite Toothpaste wrote: Everything about that poster, and it's the tagline that I don't get.

Ah, now I see. Though I think it should be "you muppet" not "you toilet".John P. Drake wrote:I've already read it in his voice. Lol.Kristatos wrote:The tagline is what makes it for me. Works both ways although toilet seems the like something he'd say right before he kicks some guy down the stairs.Daltonite Toothpaste wrote:Ah, now I see. I don't think statham would be a good bond but he is a great action star and a hell of a lot more likeable than Craig

Well, as long as Bond could be anyone or anything since 2006, then I think Statham would make hell of a Bond, and a lot more likeable than CR-egg's character would be. At least his version of Bond would be literally macho and not a wuss like CR-egg's portrayal is.Omega wrote:Works both ways although toilet seems the like something he'd say right before he kicks some guy down the stairs.Daltonite Toothpaste wrote:Ah, now I see. I loved Statham's line in the church in the Expendables: "by the power invested in me, I now pronounce you man and knife".

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
As expected, Captain America: The Winter Soldier took over the box office on Friday with a huge $37 million. It's up 14 percent from Thor: The Dark World's $31.9 million, and up 44 percent from the first Captain's $25.7 million. If The Winter Soldier plays similarly to The Dark World, it will inch past $100 million this weekend.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
he one is of the few who can pull it off . Craig would mumble something then try to look sad. Even Brosnan might struggle. Statham can drop lines like that all day with out braking a sweatcarl stromberg wrote:I loved Statham's line in the church in the Expendables: "by the power invested in me, I now pronounce you man and knife".

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
yep. And He is a mans man in the old meaning of the word. He is a bad ass who in most of his movies has a soft spot for women and code as to how people should be treated. Honestly he is the bond Craig's wishes he could be. It's the kind of guy Connery - Brosnan was without the polish. Dunno what Craig is supposed to be besides bizarrobond cause he's not young bond, untrained bond, unpolished bond, or bond at all for that matterJohn P. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I second that, Omega. Statham's characters (often are the same persona) are true heroes who have moral codes, and ultimate man's man blokes like you've mentioned. I'd like to see Statham doing his own secret agent movie (no rogue agent/realizm stuff) with a bang!Omega wrote:yep. And He is a mans man in the old meaning of the word. Other than what you said about Brosnan (who was a ladies man, not a mans man imo), you hit the nail on the head. I like his Transporter series, and would be open to more films. Please...Omega wrote:yep. And He is a mans man in the old meaning of the word. He is a bad ass who in most of his movies has a soft spot for women and code as to how people should be treated. Just seen a newer poster with Croah much more prominently displayed. Planning to see the movie Monday.Omega wrote:I noticed her face in most of the online ads if I hadn't know Russell crow was Noah I don't think i would have gotten the impression he was in the movie at all.Kristatos wrote:No doubt. The weekend estimate ended up being $44 million, quite a bit over the studio's projected $35 million. Actuals are released later today. I think it's quite amusing that all the publicity seems to feature Emma Watson, while poor old Russell Crowe is barely mentioned. No question who the studio thinks is the more bankable star. As one commenter on Box Office Mojo's Facebook page sarcastically put it, "I didn't realize Emma Watson was playing Noah".Omega wrote:i think the controversy helped.

Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor may play 007's next nemesis. http://oyster.ignimgs.com/mediawiki/api ... _actor.jpg
Variety reports that the 12 Years a Slave star is EON Productions and Sony's top pick to play the villain James Bond 24. "No offer has been made yet and scheduling would still have to be worked out but sources insist he is the front-runner for the job," according to the trade. "Casting has been heating up with the studio also on the lookout for one Scandinavian and one British woman to play the new Bond girls." (will this turn into a black Blowfeld rewrite of Fleming's work by Broccoli?)
