I agree big O. Pine looks like a parody of the character and Affleck's Batman film is already looking bad being delayed now for almost 1 year? Not a good sign.

I've only seen her in 3 of the Resident Evil film, until recently. I watched No Good Deed a few day ago, and I'm now interested in seeing her in less action-y roles. So if it's a traditional Spy Thriller, that's even better.John P. Drake wrote:It looks like I am not the only one obsessed with Milla Jovovich!Blowfeld wrote:OK, now I'm interested too. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The new Jack Ryan film only made $17 million (estimated) in its opening weekend, coming in at #4 in the weekend chart. And this is part of an established franchise. Should we be worried about the prospects for Pierce's upcoming spy movies?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Pierce is far more popular than Pine. I never thought Pine would cut it as a spy and overall he is a bore as an actor. I would think November Man opens well IF promoted widely as I am sure Pierce will do on tv prior to it's opening. I would think a $35-40 million opening weekend is doable in the USA.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
And the top 3 movies this week are all non-sequels, so I suppose my fear that nobody is going to see movies that aren't part of an established franchise any more is unfounded.bjmdds wrote:Pierce is far more popular than Pine. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
maybe. But I argue jack Ryan isn't a name that gets people to go to the movies, it's an established series that's best day was the hunt for red October( more a Connery movie ) , big names tried to make jack Ryan a series only fail.Kristatos wrote:The new Jack Ryan film only made $17 million (estimated) in its opening weekend, coming in at #4 in the weekend chart. Still this is a bomb, huge theater count to place 4th?!! If it can make $180 million it'll make money.
Ride along is doing awesome the only new movie I thought about going to see. But it the one ill probable buy when it hits bluray
Pine when not wearing the arrogant James t Kirk face looks ridiculous like Craig on snl. Watching the ads for it I could get excited about this movie. Part of it is pine, part of it is jack Ryan.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I hope so. If it is happening it's probably because franchise movies became soooo predictable. Recycling past movie plots to make a sequel, including bond.Kristatos wrote:And the top 3 movies this week are all non-sequels, so I suppose my fear that nobody is going to see movies that aren't part of an established franchise any more is unfounded.bjmdds wrote:Pierce is far more popular than Pine. My own take? I still am going to see November Man. It's Pierce's full-time return to the spy arena.FormerBondFan wrote:I would. Drake and BJ, what's your take?Kristatos wrote:Should we be worried about the prospects for Pierce's upcoming spy movies?

Pierce may be busy as always, but he's not getting the recognition he deserves either his talents are still completely underused or his works are under radar. However, Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright had him to join in to be part of the final installment of Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy.bjmdds wrote:Pierce is far more popular than Pine. Stop worrying FBF. November is 10 months away. Pierce will do just fine in it hopefully and the fact that the Eon minions have not seen him in a spy film for 12 years might just be the impetus for a great opening weekend, in fact, maybe MGW and the green vegetable will spend money to see it as well 5 times

NBC says its next live musical will be "Peter Pan," to be broadcast in December.
It will be produced by the same team that made "The Sound of Music" with Carrie Underwood, which reached 19 million viewers last month. NBC entertainment president Robert Greenblatt said Sunday that the strong viewership surprised even NBC.
Almost immediately, NBC started kicking around ideas for another musical.
The cast has not been announced.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
It's not just about proving that Pierce can play it dark and gritty in action roles, which never came to realization during his Bond tenure thanks to Babs. More than that, it's about proving that he's not limited to James Bond in the minds of the general public, especially in the action realm, as well as beating GE to a pulp for that movie has held its title as his best actioner (or even his best overall) for 19 years, and 19 years is WAAAYYYY overdue. Look at Patrick Stewart. He can't stay memorable as just Jean-Luc Picard forever. Thanks to X-Men, the general public was able to see him past his Star Trek image. What I hope for is that Pierce goes in the same example as Patrick, not just Sean, and takes it to the next level.bjmdds wrote:Stop worrying FBF. November is 10 months away. How does this suit you FBF? Pierce might be doing November Man sequels even after Cr-egg leaves the Bond roleFormerBondFan wrote:It's not just about proving that Pierce can play it dark and gritty in action roles, which never came to realization during his Bond tenure thanks to Babs. I can see that, but it will take more than just November Man to escape the image of Bond. It would be better if he does more villainous roles and roles from other genres, such as sci-fi/fantasy, but as far as fantasy goes, not a single film in this territory did any better outside of Harry Potter, Middle Earth, and Narnia (in some degree) in today's world.bjmdds wrote:How does this suit you FBF? Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Yep! He should do every kind of movie in every genre. But it takes a well-known product to create Brosnan his 'Professor X' role. (Don't take it literally, all I meant is just a newer image). Brosnan should headline a very successful franchise which lasts at least a trilogy. While fantasy, I mean, fantasy films are not my cup of tea, Brosnan should do it. Why? Business. To promote his own name to its former glory he had in the 'Bond' days. However, I would love to see him doing an over-the-top actioner with hilarious elements like RED. Just my opinion, though.FormerBondFan wrote:I can see that, but it will take more than just November Man to escape the image of Bond. Not just that. It's about increasing his reputation as an actor and that he is not defined by just James Bond, especially when it comes to action roles.John P. Drake wrote:To promote his own name to its former glory he had in the 'Bond' days.
