Nice of you to post your perspective about the DC Bond in here. Welcome, Nirego. Your view on the Craig era is a bit more light-hearted than mine, though.Nirego wrote:My perspective? OK, then. I started with Bond as a 4 year old seeing Goldfinger on late night TV and have been hooked since, and skipping to now I have mixed feelings on the Craig years. Yes, I really want him gone, I've given him every chance but he's failed to make me accept him as Bond, except in one detail; he is probably the best at portraying the cold blooded killer side of the character, but with all other traits missing that just makes him an unappealing sociopath. Putting him aside I have very mixed on the films themselves. I hated the need to restart the series from scratch and the loss of all that history really hurt, and the attempt to make this the real world Bond doesn't work as entertainment, however I don't outright hate the film themselves.
Casino Royale was half good, half crap for me. It was a good looking production, started strong, can't help it, I really enjoyed that opening B&W sequence, had a villain cast with an actor I've come to like a lot as time goes on, and like I said when just being the killer Craig is effective, but the farther we get into it the more it feels wrong, I hated Eva Green, each action scene was weaker than the previous and Craig was slowly revealed to have nothing to offer other than being a killer. In the end it was a frustrating experience to watch yet couldn't outright hate it.
Quantum of Solace; Ok, nothing good here, it was pure s**t.
Skyfall; Here we might get a little contentious as I actually really like this one. Yes, I still dislike Craig, yet making him a loser old man version of Bond kinda suited him, there are plot holes all over and I already had my fill of the focus on 'M' being targeted by someone she wronged in the past getting revenge on her in 'TWINE', and I didn't like it then either. And the 'witty' bantor between Bond and the new 'Moneypenny was painful to sit through, among other issues I had.. Having said that, great opening action sequence, I think it was really well directed, the cinematography was gorgeous and I'm a sucker for that, and there was a genuine cool style to it all. Skyfall may not be a proper bond film but on it's own terms I couldn't help really getting into it.
There a lot more but this post is already too long, so last comment, If they don't put the Gunbarrel back at the front I'm seriously gonna punch someone.

Star Wars 7 news: The report confirms that the recent Jesse Plemons potential casting news is true and explains that Michael Fassbender met with Abrams in December for an unspecified role, although we can’t imagine him playing a leading part (at least in Episode 7) due to his upcoming obligations for Assassin’s Creed and likely, X-Men: Apocalypse – both of which are equally as massive and time-consuming as Star Wars. Hugo Weaving however, according to multiple informants, met for the specific part of an “Imperial Commander.” Thrawn, anyone?
Last but not least, Abrams and co. are seeking out a young actress in her 20s to apparently play the daughter or granddaughter (probably the latter given the timeline) of Obi-Wan Kenobi. With production beginning soon for a late 2015 release, there will be plenty of official announcements in the coming months so stay tuned to Screen Rant and official Disney-Lucasfilm channels for updates.
[Update: the 20-something actress Abrams is looking is said to be "mixed race or black" and as some of our readers pointed out, it could be for the daughter of Lando Calrissian - something he said he wanted in the film back in September 2013, a Jedi daughter. At this point, these are rumors piled on top of hearsay so wait for more info.]

Somebody just posted on Twitter that Mark Hamill is almost the same age now that Alec Guinness was in A New Hope. Scary thought.

"Mission Impossible 5 is extremely facing a lot of pressure as it's prequel "Ghost Protocol" has just become the franchise biggest hit earning £450 million worldwide since it was released on December 2011. For the creators to reach and even exceed that numbers they really have to step up their game, as the fifth installment of the movie is expected to have more death defying stunts and action packed fighting scenes, oh and not to mention state of the art gadgets." Fresh off a Golden Globes win, Michael Douglas is joining the superheroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios announced Monday that Douglas has been cast as Hank Pym and will join star Paul Rudd in the movie Ant-Man, directed by Edgar Wright (The World's End) and slated for release on July 31, 2015. Wright had already surprised people by naming Rudd, who is better known for comedic roles than action roles, for the role of Lang, so it seems his version of “Ant-man” is going to be taken in a different direction than fans of the comic might be expecting.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. Feige is producing. Marvel had pursued Douglas early on for the part, but the actor was cautious until sources said he had a change of heart over the holidays.
"With Hank Pym's rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in a statement. "We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn't be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life."
In the comic books, Pym first appeared in 1962 in Tales to Astonish No. 27 and was the first person to take the Ant-Man moniker as one of the original Avengers team. Scott Lang, the role played by Rudd, later used Pym's technology to become the shrinking superhero. The upcoming big-screen adaptation of the superhero publisher's smallest Avenger directed by Edgar Wright ("The World's End") will feature two iterations of the character, a story element that has been rumored for years. Paul Rudd was confirmed as the lead at the end of last year, and now Michael Douglas has signed on as Hank Pym, the original and best-known Ant-Man. Hank Pym is the scientist and inventor whose name is used to describe the particles that allow someone to either shrink or grow in size. Pym has been a key member of the Avengers and infamously created one of the team's most dangerous villains, Ultron. The sentient robot is set to be the antagonist for Joss Whedon's "Avengers" sequel, also scheduled for release next year. Whedon previously confirmed that Pym would not appear in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
Scott Lang adopted the mantle from Pym after stealing the technology from its inventor in order to pull off a heist and provide for his daughter.
Douglas, 69, who won a Golden Globe on Sunday for his portrayal of Liberace in HBO's Behind the Candelabra, is the latest Oscar winner to be cast in one of Marvel's movies, joining the likes of Anthony Hopkins (Thor and its sequel), Jeff Bridges (Iron Man), Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3) Robert Redford (April's Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Benicio Del Toro (August's Guardians of the Galaxy).

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Early reports on Fox’s Batman prequel pilot Gotham has made it sound like its mainly about Commissioner Gordon dealing with various challenges in the wild urban jungle.
But Fox chairman Kevin Reilly dispelled that notion at the network’s Television Critics Association press tour panel in Pasadena on Monday. The network’s licensing deal with Warner Bros. includes the rights to ALL the classic Batman characters — The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, Penguin and Batman himself. They will all be young versions of the characters and the show will tell how each became the psychologically damaged character we love today.
“This is all of the classic Batman characters,” Reilly said during the panel. “It follows the arc of how they all became what they were. I’ve read the script its really good. It’s going to be this operatic soap that has a slightly larger-than-life quality.” Batman will be followed from the time he’s a child to “the final episode of the series when he puts on the cape.”
After the panel, Reilly added some more details on the Smallville-ish concept, which will be a serialized drama. “This is the Batman franchise, just backing it up,” Reilly said. “There’s a large tapestry of characters to service over many years. They brought us the entire franchise for a healthy license fee.

Already went through the whole being bitter thing with Star Wars and it's radical revisionism of the original trilogy and the crappiness of the prequels, after which I found it's easier to either to find the good in something or just walk away if I can't. I haven't reached the point of walking away from Bond (at least not yet, came close after QOS) and I look back at the series history and how many different directions it went and it feels like it's the pendulum swinging to it's limit and it will come back at some point. In fact it will have to or die as it's ability to change is one of the reasons for it's longevity. In the end the public will get tired of this brooding serious tone infecting, not just Bond, but all of cinema and pure entertainment for it's own sake will comeback in vogue, and if the powers that be are smart they'll make Bond films part of that comeback.John P. I think it's already starting to happen. Just look at the respective box office performances of Iron Man 3 (light-hearted, fun, made $1.2 billion worldwide) and Man of Steel (serious, brooding, $668 million worldwide).Nirego wrote:I haven't reached the point of walking away from Bond (at least not yet, came close after QOS) and I look back at the series history and how many different directions it went and it feels like it's the pendulum swinging to it's limit and it will come back at some point. 2013 statement by the green vegetable: Producer Barbara, daughter of the late Bond producer Albert R “Cubby” Broccoli, says that she’s determined to keep Craig, 45, in his tuxedo for the next few years.
“I’m not letting Daniel go anywhere let me be clear about that,” she told Day & Night. Barbara, 52, says the next instalment of the secret agent series will be the hardest of all.
“We don’t want to disappoint the fans. They have really kept us going all these years. We always try to make a film that will please them so the pressure is on even more so than ever.” But will we see Barbara in a scene with Craig any time soon? “Michael does the cameos. I just want to hide under the duvet.” (case closed. She's obsessed with DC.)

They don't mention QOS didn't mind disappointing fans if it puts cash in her pocket. We all understand she is obsessed with her "Daniel" though if I were him if be insulted, she won't allow him to go anywhere, doubt he minds it she pays him well enough to take her crap.
He better hope she never sees sons of guns , this complete tool tom bugged the crap out of me, besides he was a dumb SOB I finally realized he looks Craig, whiny and thinks his work is harder than everyone else, really he'd be perfect to replace Craig.
