If Daniel Craig's more "meaningful" Bond movie Casino Royale was the first Bond cinema adaption it would have also have been the last.Kristatos wrote:On a different subject, I will confess to having something of an addiction to screenwriting books, even though I blame them for much of what's wrong with modern movies (the author of this article agrees). I think it's because I have the slightly anal sort of mind that loves to see information organised into lists, charts, tables etc. The latest one I'm reading is called The Story Solution: 23 Actions All Great Heroes Must Take (see, a number in the title - that means a list!) by Eric Edson. I was annoyed to find this in the first chapter:
See, this is why we can't have good things. It's easy to rail against Barbara Broccoli, but she is only following the conventional wisdom in Hollywood. If this sort of crap is being taught in screenwriting books and classes, no wonder movies are no fun any more. But what about films that stay on the surface of life? What's the theme of, say, an early Bond movie? This charming one-dimensional hero lived only to triumph over the bad guys. And he never lost. So the message in any early Bond film has to be: good always triumphs over evil.
From shallow genres come shallow themes, but we must note that there is a theme, even in a James Bond movie.
Today Bond has been overhauled to make this iconic character more interesting and he has finally been given human flaws and inner conflicts that allow new 007 stories to contain deeper themes about love and the hollowness of revenge.
So the screenwriter's goal is to design from beginning to end a captivating, meaningful journey for a troubled hero — a journey that leads the audience to discover some universal human truth and experience strong emotion.
"Viewer discretion when opening up these photos revealing Miley and Gag-Gag"............Hello Q. Casting in Hollywood has become one big joke. Watch them make Alfred into a female Alfie or even make Alfred gay. That's how devoid of reasoning Hollwood has become. Just look at Miley Cyrus rubbing her rear, in her underwear, into the 36 year old Thicke's groin on stage last night http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=HA.210558190216&pid=1.7 on the VMA awards from Brooklyn NY, as well as Gag-Gag undressing on stage into her Eve's panties and a G-string. http://i1.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article ... 223199.jpg What a decadent society we are all witnessing from Cr-egg being ordered in drag by Broccoli to these moronic idiots running the entertainment industry. Q, how did Man Of Steel do money-wise? Loss? Profit? Even?Mazer Rackham wrote:If I were Affleck I would be on the phone begging Bale to come back![]()
I don't have a clue what the studios were thinking the announcement alone was so mishandled it would be laughable if they were not serious. We can argue in circles about the merits of Ben Affleck as an actor, director, writer, however I wouldn't compare the outrage to his casting to Craig, it's worse and potentially more damaging. Obviously Craig has done well enough to argue for the craggy wannabe thespian, however I'd just a vehemently argue he is miscast and the movies have become misdirected and misguided. Yet his only saving grace may be the fifty years of cinematic Bond, Craig is so out of step with traditional Bond the right circles who never liked Bond now have a reason to cheer. The problem for Batman is the audience only has only recently decided on a Batman, and Batman is not yet a brand name -in cinema- that can withstand any storm. WB/DC have big dreams for their superhero universe, Affleck threatens this, even if he does a good job as Batman/Wayne if he doesn't knock it out of the park redefining Batman anew to his favor those dreams of franchise can all come crashing down. And if this is a one off appearance why bother?
Affleck has recently redeemed himself in the minds of many but not enough to put his thumb in the eye of the movie going public.

Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, so-called "dark", so-called "gritty", emoism, 2 and half an hour of mind torture, much like how it was with The Dark Knight Rises (I don't mean to harass anyone, just my opinion) or the bland and boring Skyfall or even the most recent Man of Steel, which I have never seen but heard from a friend of how bored he was, even Sweeney has put down the movie, so I'd say we should abandon ship, immediately.bjmdds wrote:Drakester, what say yee? Do we abandon ship on this one?
Yes, Alfred is an ex-Military, but that's not the way they are going to portray him, they want him to be emotionally struggling or heart-broken butler who wants to get over with his life and end it. You know very well how it goes with the Hollywood movies, these days.Kristatos wrote:Alfred is supposed to be ex-Military, so a former Bond is an inspired choice.
I enjoyed the story line in 'Batman of the Future' where Bruce had to sit alone worrying about the new Batman the way Alfred did for him.Kristatos wrote:Alfred is supposed to be ex-Military, so a former Bond is an inspired choice.
They're probably following the lead of the New 52 comics, where Alfred is well 'ard, guvnor.Blowfeld wrote:I enjoyed the story line in 'Batman of the Future' where Bruce had to sit alone worrying about the new Batman the way Alfred did for him.Kristatos wrote:Alfred is supposed to be ex-Military, so a former Bond is an inspired choice.
I know a little of Alfred's backstory, I have a hard time picturing Timothy in the role.
