From GE to Bond 23, Dench has been a disaster as M. I have been watching the real Bond films on cable tv this month and the more I see M as a woman, the more I detest it and Bond 23 basically said to hell with that idea. She is boring and not believable in that role. Cross her off the list of positive Bond characters. 17 years of her was too much. M is a man. Fact It's on to correcting the current MP and Q disasters and another M actor is also required. Fiennes does not fit the Bernard Lee vision of M.

I think up to TWINE she was adding something, DAD she had a few good scenes but after TWINE where she tired to show she had the balls what else was there to say.

Correct once again FBF and if any Oscars are handed out to ANYTHING related to Bond 23 the academy will be deemed a joke. The plot was tedious and boring, all of the acting was sub par, and it was not a well done film by Mendes. The minions may have shelled out dough on it but if you talk Oscar caliber, you talk The Hobbit for cinematography and special effects and costumes and you talk Lincoln and Les Miserables for best song, best acting and best directing. I am sure FBF will agree with me on this, right Sir Peter Jackon's first Hobbit trilogy movie is already in the running for an Oscar nearly a fortnight before it's officially released.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles has announced The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey as one of 10 films short-listed for the visual effects Oscar.
The film had its world premiere in Wellington on Wednesday but won't open in cinemas until December 12.

The academy said in a statement that members of its visual effects branch would view 10-minute excerpts from each of the 10 films on January 3.
The members will then vote to nominate five films which will be announced on January 10 for final Oscar consideration.

Harry Potter villain Jason Isaacs is keen to return to the dark side for another movie blockbuster - he wants to be considered for the next Bond baddie.
The British actor spent the best part of a decade playing devious Lucius Malfoy in the Potter films and he tells WENN he'd love a shot at following Javier Bardem, who plays Skyfall's evil mastermind Raoul Silva.
He says, "I'd love to be a Bond villain. I've never been approached and I've never been available... I was signed up to Harry Potter for years and other things but I would do it in a heartbeat, particularly because I'm a big fan of Daniel Craig's; I think he's a terrific Bond."
And Isaacs insists such casting would make for an interesting side story: "Dan and I played lovers for a year onstage at the National Theatre in London in Angels in America, so it might be the perfect bookend for our screen relationship.
"That was possibly the artistic highlight of my life; I don't know if he would say the same thing."
It appears Craig does have some weight with the Bond bosses - he suggested they hire Sam Mendes as director for Skyfall after an exchange with the fellow Brit at a party.

But Isaacs doesn't appear to be the favourite to play a Bond villain among film fans - Gary Oldman topped a recent Fandango poll to find the actor 007 devotees would most like to see up against the superspy.

Ethnic actors, Freaks & Weirdos, robots, and pets. There's no place for the traditional tall and dark-haired Caucasian Bond anymore. Henry and Fassbender along with other traditional types should find something better to do. I can say this a billion times.

He is a good villain. 5th Element has was great. Almost unrecognizable as Commissioner James Gordon. I expect Dark knight will take home something this year is only because it is the last.

My guess is Prometheus will get one as well as Cloud Atlas or Life of Pi. Snow White was also well done.

Well 'Sweeney'.....you were mocked sometime ago for suggesting 'SF' could make a Billion....but the film does have an outside chance of reaching that figure now.
It really depends on the film being well received in China, and that the Chinese authorities dont release 'SF' the same weekend as another blockbuster.

Anyway, the films International takings continue to surprise, currently they are $623 mil...and when adding the us total now gives the film some $869 mil.

This is a massive improvement so far close to $300 mil over QOS.

It had another good weekend and is running with Twilight so it's impressive no matter what.
$100 million boost from the UK (over CR and QOS), some of it is price but no doubt people are reacting well to it. The US is unexpected for me because there was not big buzz around it here, but then $200 million isn't a big movie here not really.
