One part of the film i did really like .............was the Shanghai segment where Bond is following the assassin through that skyscraper, hanging from the lift, and then the eventual fight........this sequence was very well filmed.

I liked both the Shanghai and Macau scenes. Wondered where the abandoned island was meant to be, though.

Not going to use deadline for the numbers again. Smoking Crack like they were last night pisses me off, they could be right about the total but I'll post BO MOJOs estimates and then actuals when they come in Monday. I hate it because Deadline is easier to copy BO MOJo has to many things to be edited .

Yes......and it was not just here that issues were raised about the last Bond film in particular. People were very angry saying that the film QOS was very badly made.
Its interesting to note that with interviews with the Bond people, they rarely ever mention the film QOS, but always refer back to CR.
I'am glad the Bond producers have gone some way in addressing the issues with the previous film. Shame though they buggered it up in the first place, and they have never admitted their faults!

They admit fault for things they weren't directly involved with. Barbara Broccoli has said some depictions of women were sexist, but then she excempts Honey Rider and Pussy Galore, but never gets around to mentioning a specific example.

Also, with the Everything or Nothing documentary (which I liked a lot), they blow right by Quantum of Solace. They show a couple of clips but I think they didn't actually mention the movie by name. Or if they did, it was very fleeting.

Ouch.Looks like QOS is going to be a black mark on EON's history-the fact it gets such a brief mention is rather telling, no?

Many people consider Quantum Of Solace to be the worst Bond film, so it's no wonder why Eon would want to pretend it never happened. It's amazing how it manages to get fairly average review scores on certain sites, though.

Skyfall will in all likelihood deliver the highest-grossing opening weekend ever for a James Bond movie in North America. But let’s keep things in perspective, at least when it comes to the domestic box office: If we factor in inflation (to better reflect ticket sales), two Sean Connery James Bond movies from the mid-’60s, Goldfinger (1964) and Thunderball (1965), scored approximately $532m and $600m, respectively in North America alone. Barring a miracle of James Bondian proportions, there’s no chance Skyfall will get even close to those figures.

Much of the spy fever was fueled by singer Adele, Fandango says. According to the firm's poll of 1,000 moviegoers, 54% of respondents said her single, Skyfall, increased their interest and awareness of the film, which stars Daniel Craig.

Next on Fandango's list: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2, which opens Friday and is accounting for 17% of online sales.

The pic has taken in a total of $90 million domestically including the $2.2 million earned in exclusive Thursday runs; Steven Spielberg's awards contender "Lincoln" opens in 11 cities to strong numbers.

Sam Mendes' James Bond pic Skyfall easily seduced the North American box office with a potent $87.8 million debut, bringing its worldwide cume to $500 million or more in only two weeks of play.

Skyfall earned another $2.2 million in exclusive Thursday runs in Imax and other large-format theaters, bringing its four-day domestic total to $90 million.

And yes, adjusted for inflation not to mention imax etc of course it can't compete with older movies. Basically none of the current ones can, except those raking in stuff like 1 bln at the box office.

Of course modern Bond films are never likely to ever match the US grosses of Goldfinger and Thunderball, but that was in the days when Bond was a new type of action film....and the public frenzy in the day led to what was known as Bondmania in the mid 60's.

Anyway, despite the increased revenue from IMAX ticket sales, i think SF has done better than most predicted, i mean most analysts predicted $80 mil as top figure.
The good thing to notice is that the Saturday figure was higher than Friday, which could point out to SF having a decent long run. I think $200 mil+ as i suggested earlier is more and more a certainty now, despite bigger films opening in the next few weeks.
Shortly we will get the weekends International figue, whicg could put the film upto or close to $500mil worldwide.

Update: no sooner than i typed the previous message, i saw a report stating that SF by early estimates has now accumalated $518.6 mil worldwide.

Another $89 mil was added this weekend in Internatioanl territories.

I told you Skyfall would be huge at the BO, and with the critics, BJ.

I think Cubby would be proud of what his daughter has achieved with his legacy - a film which potentially could rake in a similar amount to the early 60's movies, and still manage to be critically acclaimed at the same time. This is something Cubby never really managed to do once Connery left the series.

With Craig as Bond, Babs has discovered a winning formula, whether you guys here think he is right for the part or not.
