This is LESS than QOS factoring in a 40% increase in ticket prices which go up .50USD every 6 months here. http://boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/?s ... -09&p=.htm
Yes......i agree that if you take into account increase ticket prices...SF in reality has opened similar to QOS. Therefore no real advance.

But i think SF will maintain strong ticket sales during its run, as its a far better film than QOS.

The midweek takings and next weekends take will give a better indication how the film will do in the long run.

'BJ' will you out of curiosity go to see SF in a theatre?

I'm starting to read predictions on BO forums that SF could bring in $100m this weekend.

I said all along SF would be huge, and we are still on track with my predictions.
"Skyfall" will shatter the record for the biggest James Bond movie debut ever, after taking in $30.8 million at the box office on Friday.
That's an average of nearly $8,787 from each of the 3,505 theaters that the 23rd film in the 50-year-old 007 franchise is playing on. That could translate to an $80 million weekend." What planet do you live on Sweeney, Creggulus One? Keep dreaming about your $200 million plus here and your $100 million opening. Ain't a gonna happen :!:  My friend saw Bond 23 last night in Missouri. He LOVES DC as Bond. He found the film LACKING and will NOT spend money to see it again. Sandy Kenyon, the WABC tv movie critic said it is better than QOS but NOT as good as CR. Twilight now gets it's fangs into the competition. Bond 23(I do not acknowledge it's name) will be a quick fade within 2 weeks here. It won't come close to Ghost Protocol in the USA.

How did you like Q and MP and would you accept them to remain with Cavill or replace them? I doubt Eon would dare replace them now.
You can forget about Henry as Bond. He should stick with Supie, 50 Shades, and epic films for all I care. And Michael Fassbender should stick with Chris Nolan films. From now on, it's all about the freaks & weirdos, considering the madness we're in right now, and it doesn't matter if DC leaves after Skyfall or after Bond 25. Are we still in agreement on this, BJ? And how's my new signature?
Fine, as per your new directive.

That is one hell of a drop. QOS had $27 million so it held many lost a few if Imax priced did anything. I might have said gained a few but for Imax if its as many or more that saw it Thursday well.
When I ask BO MOJO to adjust QOS it is $29 million Friday. I should have known something was up when the studio was saying a lower number than Deadline.

Good news is our game is still on!

Sweeney why didn't give a me a guess when I asked I would have put you in our game. I think you said 80 to 100 before but wasn't going to hold you to it.

"Skyfall's opening was a "bit" of an improvement over Daniel Craig's last outing as 007, Quantum of Solace, which earned $27 million on its first day in 2008." (Boxofficemojo quote.)

They are ripping off Batman in this one in a "return to traditional Bond values" apparently.

That is exactly what I'm saying.

Skyfall wasn't for sure my ideal for a Bond movie, far from it, but it was WAY and I mean WAY better than both QoS and CR (at least for me), which is an encouraging sign for the future, in my opinion. With a new actor and more of the "back to traditional elements" (they did bring back some traditional elements in this one) we may be back to a normal setting and actually seeing James Bond on screen. What I like the most about this, anyway, is that I've seen heaps of comments on Twitter from people who said they want Cavill as the next one, after seeing Skyfall. Especially younger audience. So that is a very good sign.
It is his best of the three he has done I was telling Sweeney this takes a piss on CR and QOS, really no point to either of those movies. Or him. And he gets so much of who Bond is wrong.
Absolutely right, Mazer.

So glad we agree, EA. And LOL I am quite sure you DO look more like Bond than he does. The looks he has in this movie are really BEYOND bad for Bond. It's just not James Bond. And I agree with you about the ending, it was well done, albeit unusual. What I'm deeply dissatisfied with is the female roles in the movie. Just... no

BJ, this Q with a younger Bond may work, though he's still not my ideal for the character. But I think if Cavill was Bond, it wouldn't look so odd as it does with Craig looking 100 years old!

Sweeney, yes I did think it was a BIG improvement from the previous ones. And yes, they may have done it on purpose, but I've seen papz photos of Craig from last week I think, and he still looks awful  ON top of it, even if they did it on purpose, that's just not the way James Bond is supposed to look (not to mention I really find him very lacking in the "class" compartment... you can't buy it, you either have it or you don't) But that said, I do agree this was a far better movie than the previous two (not that it takes much to improve from QoS, but still, if I'm saying what I'm saying you know I mean it  )

I do think people here should be happy because they clearly DID listen to some of our biggest complaints (like EA said, STOP doing Bourne, this is James Bond, for example). With a new actor who is suitable for the role, things may greatly improve and we may finally be happy with Bond again.

I definitely dig the dynamic and thought it was fun how they used old phrases but told in different manners.

*Q gives Bond a gun and a tiny radio* "007, try to bring them back in one piece."
