It totally get some of what he is saying, in a way its like football stars who go form broke living in the ghetto to a million dollar house and every woman in their circle being after their money. These guy don't know how to handle money and fame, most end up broke when their career is over. The Sweeney wrote: To be honest BJ, this part of DC I respect more than anything else. I really cannot stand the BS pretentious Hollywood brigade. DC is down-to-earth, and trying hard to remain so. He is a Northerner, from working class roots, the same as me. If I was in his shoes, I would probably feel the same way he does about fame. The fact that he swears doesn't bother me at all. I am a huge Oasis fan so expect my idols to swear like troopers in front of journalists. I'm quite into that rock star attitude, and DC has this too.
Across the pond, my favourite movie star is Robert Redford and Steve McQueen - both actors hated being in the public eye too much. Redford retreats to his Sundance ranch whenever he can, and McQueen preferred drinking beers and riding bikes than doing the pretentious celeb Hollywood scene.
If some body gave me a million a wouldn't know what to do with it. Some teams bring in life coaches and money manager to help these guys.
So I get Craig wanting to quit Bond to know himself again. But he has been a smug stuck up b@stard more often than the guy who is too shy for cameras.
McQueen and Redford were real men who knew who they were before fame and stayed true to it. Still plenty of actors in todays hollywood who have similar sensibilities and they never once acted like Craig does.
I don't think Craig is a bad person I think he is still over his head with Bond, he can't handle the fame like Connery did, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan did. Lazenby just plain didn't handle anything he may be the closest to how overwhelmed Craig is though.
IMO its not completely an act I think this is the guy Craig wants to be, from interviews on his smaller movies I think this is the guy he tires to be when he is not around EON. In that way being around EON is probably bad for him as a person, if he thinks so too he might just quit to know who he is again.
