My local cinema has a Facebook page and the last week they've been posting about "epic" nights with Skyfall where the house was packed out and they had to turn people away. I saw The Dark Knight Rises there and it was half-empty so people do seem to be going bonkers over this film in Britain. It is Bond I suppose and they always get a boost when they take a longer than usual break because it makes the new film more of an event. I still maintain though that none of this credit goes to DC. Bond sells whereas any other film DC is in seems to be a flop. Skyfall would be doing well whoever was playing Bond. In fact, I'm surprised sometimes when I talk to people and they can't even name the current Bond actor. They just go to see the new Bond film.

I overheard a couple of people in my office saying a few negative comments to each other about Skyfall after seeing it this weekend. These are the first 2 people I have come across who didn't like it. I never experienced that with CR.

If I had to pick one fault with Skyfall, is that it lacks the standard 2 big action sequences involving dangerous stunts. The PTS opening in Istanbul is all we get. Every other Bond movie usually has at least 2 of these big stunt sequences, even CR did.

Although I liked the toned down action in SF, I did feel it needed one more big action scene.

He's hiding in the bloody water set tank!

The other place to trim is P&R, if they could do a total of under $300m then maybe it'd beat CR and QOS on total cost, it'd also guarantee Skyfall made money. It's hard to tell right now as so much smoke is being blown up so many collective asses.

I thought you said there were 2 people who went with you who didn't like it? Thats like 6 people in all of England

I've seen a few reviews who thought skyfall was dull. Then there was the review who said Craig is trying to be the logiest running Bond based on the length of his movies.

From reading previous posts.....yes its true SF could of done with another major action sequence, as basically the pre-credits sequence is the only one........though the film does have quite a few other action sequences, which are mainly gun battles.

This is probably the result of the budget alledgedly being reduced after the exceesses of QOS. I mean at the outset of SF it was reported in the media that the film wouldnt have as many amjor action pieces as previous Bonds.

Anyway, all in all it didnt seem to affect the overall enjoyment of the film.

Total Film gave it a good review but scroll down and the comments are very mixed. I sense a backlash after the hysterical early reviews.

Just seen Skyfall and Sam Mendes has done a rubbish job!! Is this really the best they can do for the 50th anniversary!! So last time they copied the The Bourne Identity!! And this time they copied The Dark Knight!! Love Craig as Bond he does a great job. But this new bond again falls short! Thought we where moving on from the cheese of Pierce Brosnan and the over the top plots and going more realistic!!! We're supposed to believe one guy can Basically cripple MI6 and the whole country and his only reason for doing this is that he has a bone to pick with M!!!! With the world climate, being what it is today!!! REALLY IS THIS THE BEST STORY THEY COULD COME UP WITH???!!!! Then there is the home alone ending!!! I could go on!! RUBBISH!!! Mizz Broccoli why don't you cough up and get a proper director next time!! Guy Ritchie, Christopher Nolan or Danny Boyle far better directors if you what to stay British!

The reviewer needs to get out more. If this is the best movie of the year then heaven help us. A very average movie, poor script and at times incredibly slow. Very muted response in the cinema at the end suggesting that my party of 4 was not alone in being immensely dissapointed. Perhaps our expectations had been raised too high by outrageous reviews such as this one. Last time this happened was the dog that was called War Horse.

saw skyfall yesterday and found it just average and no way matching the hype. The story was all over the placeThe villain was a cross between jimmy saville and Hannibal lector while albert finny just turned up as a giant human garden gnome. The only actor who came across with some substance was ralph fiennes apart from that it was just average acting and a film just too long and sometimes boring with a weak story where the james bond girls were just like extras in the background for a few mins. The fllm had more elements of Bourne than Bond overall..The music was awful with no identity of its own to give the feel the james bond films use to have up to the living daylights..I

Very disappointed, I'm not much of a Bond fan to be honest but having spent the last 16 years being married to one I've been immersed in all things bond to saturation point. I therefore have the benefit of being able to appreciate a good film without the sentimentality of a bond fan. However Skyfall had, in my opinion, little to appreciate. The villain although well acted had a less than convincing back story and seemed to be contrived only to explain his presence as an adversary to M. Where was the bond girl? The bit us girls love about bond, his powers to seduce and excite, it was so fleeting in this film it may as well not have been there. Bond girls and gadgets are meant to be there from beginning to end! You can't mess with it, it's the recipe! I expect skyfall will achieve much attention from the awards boards as a stand alone film, but as a bond film it felt more like a set up prequel to introduce new characters (not wanting to spoil the ending)

overlong and panto performances from the supports... another one for the batboy generation...grow up you are not teenagers.... best film of the year for kidults

As a Bond fan and a collector of memorabilia for decades I like to think I am someone who understands what Bond is all about. After reading the early reviews of Sky fall I was looking forward to this film more than any for a long time. Well what a disappointment! They have got this seriously wrong. I think the reviewer above touches on why this is: A big name director, Oscars, pats on the back from those at the Academy, awards for heaven only knows what; but this is James Bond, not Gone with the Wind. The fans have been seriously short changed. Where are the Gadgets, the girls, the cars (the New Vanquish is missing) and the real villains, not a camp hair dyed loony. I dont want to get sentimental over James Bonds early upbringing a la Harry Potter and watch a Home Alone style ending. I fear for the future if this is the best they can do. Sack these idiots who have written most of the films since Dalton, its just not good enough. Best Bond ever? Worst more like.

I'll have to wait until someone uploads Skyfall on YouTube, because I'm not paying to see it. It could possibly be better than Craig's first two Bonds, but that's not saying much seeing as I didn't really care for them. Some are saying that Skyfall is even worse than Quantum Of Solace, but I don't know about that. It would be quite an achievement if it is. But since Skyfall is a much longer film than Quantum, I suppose it does have more time to make itself seem worse.

New Rasmussen poll numbers show an increase in the number of people identifying as Republican, while Democratic identification shows a 7-point drop from the party's Oct. 2008 voter numbers.

In Oct. 2008, 33.3 percent of voters identified themselves as Republican, compared to 40.3 percent who identified themselves as Democrats. In 2012, according to the new Rasmussen data, 39.1 percent of voters now identify themselves as Republicans and 33.3 percent identify themselves as Democrats.

Independents have increased slightly, claiming 26.4 percent of the electorate in Oct. 2008 compared to 27.5 percent in Oct. 2012.

The Republican's 39.1 percent is the highest identification number the party has seen between 2004 and 2012. The lowest party identification in that span came in May 2007, at 30.8 percent.

We are renting movies not going to check the news until 11pm we don't want the drama, the talking heads will be getting in wrong until the final results are in. 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2012, they gotten all kinds of details wrong, 2008 nobody had any questions who'd win

I peeked at the news it looks close but I'm just going to walk away until it over and hope we don't get a race so close it ends in recounts like 2000.

BJ were there problems voting in NYC?

Not for me. The areas of ruination were voting in makeshift tent operations. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/0 ... 82845.html "Some people claim it's because I'm, in fact, gay but not true at all," Logan told THR at the New York premiere of the film, held by Tribeca Film Institute. "Sam and I were discussing, there were so many scenes where Bond goes mano-a-mano with the villain, whether it's Dr. No or Goldfinger or whatever, and there’s been so many ways to do a cat-and-mouse and intimidate Bond, and we thought, what would truly make the audience uncomfortable is sexual intimidation; playing the sort of homoerotic card that is sort of always there subtextually with characters like Scaramanga in 'Man With the Golden Gun' or 'Dr. No.' So we just decided that we should play the card and enjoy it. Craig then added that while some have suggested Bardem's Silva might be homosexual, he didn't agree. "I'm like, I think he'll f--k anything." (This is why the idiots running the franchise, and the foul mouthed louse in the lead role, are ruining it by allowing this kind of garbage to be put in a Bond film. I do not want Bond corrupted by this type of logic and political BS by Logan. FBF, what say yee to this?)

So Craig's Bond is busy breaking BO records, and Obama wins for a 2nd term.
BJ, my thoughts are with you. This must be bad times for you.

Never mind, there's a new Star Wars film to look forward to....... :fight:
