Apparently as reported Skyfall has taken an alltime BO record in the UK for a weeks takings ie $60million....beating all the previous HP records, and they had the advantage of 3D revenues.

There was certainly a lot of advertising for Bond this time around here. I mean apart from Radio, TV and magazines....when i was in London last week there were posters of Skyfall on the buses, on the underground tube stations...etc.

I did read one funny article on the web, saying that BB and MGW were so delighted with the early financial success of Skyfall, that they decided to have an extra biscuit at their teabreak on Monday morning!

Sell a lot of children's tickets do they?
Ah, if HP 7.2 had sold the same numbers as HP 1it would be staggering (5m more tickets). The prices go up while the sales numbers go down meaning fewer are need to fuel the industry. Eventually this business model is going to topple.

If it is beating HP 7.2 it's by the skin of its teeth. We'll know more about how this one is going to track Sunday or Monday.

BTW Craig said there is no two parter Bond planned. For whatever that is worth.

I (with great shame) actually watched the first three films all the way through, because I thought they would make great comedy, and I wanted to prep myself for this: http://www.chud.com/21684/the-devins-ad ... o-a-movie/

I had to watch the first two, it sells I'll say that for them. Took a nothing studio and made it healthy/big enough to be taken over by a slightly bigger studio.

Yes, Mazer........ticket prices in the UK make getting a feel for real BO champs very difficult to evaluate, as it seems that every time i go to the cinema which is regularly, the price has gone up again.
..........and in the UK, unlike our European neighbours, admission figures are not given out, but just the revenue taken, so its difficult to compare newer films performances with older films.

Well no doubt Skyfall captured the UK attention, good on them, they have a markets full attention. I don't see signs of mania here or elsewhere in the market data so far. The UK jumps around in price so d**n much it hard to keep track of. We do know UK attendance slipped with QOS, but the first week was stronger than it predecessor, Skyfall's first weekend judging by what I can judge by is probably has a few hundred thousand to half a million more than its predecessor. But it's a matter of cramming all those bodies in over a three day period, the small number of screens for a major release in the states would cause riots.

But fundamentally the Bond number are very stable, let say Germany were admissions to DAD, CR, QOS are with in a few hundred thousand of each other. Same for a lot of other countries around the world. Where it looks like huge improvement, example South Korea it is under 400k more in attendance yet looks bigger.

I don't think we'll see another significant Bond attendance jump before the next recast, if they retool it right they'll keep them and grown them. Which really hasn't happened since Connery, well Brozza did resuscitate the series and this core audience continues to maintain the series. If Brozza movies were better managed -not going head to head with monster blockbusters he might have increased the audience more each outing.

My movie theater has a bar. It was promoting a Skyfall drink, which included two different fruit juices in addition to the alcohol. Price: $10.75. I took a pass.

There are no words. It's bad enough that movie tickets are so expesive. But I'm sure they'd get plenty of fanboy takers if they did so at movie theaters that have bars(becoming more common, though the tickets are crazy expensive-closer to $20 per ticket.)

Ticket prices at this theater seem reasonable, $6 for a matinee, $10 (I think) for showings at 6 p.m. or later. In this general part of the country, I've seen movie theaters without bars charge $7.50 for a matinee.

I think the Skyfall drink was triple sec, pineapple juice and cranberry juice, but I'm not 100% sure. Didn't strike me as a particularly Bondian drink.

Seems a bit, well, girly for a "Bond tie in drink". A Bond girl, yes. But not Bond himself.

The whole point is they're clearly marketing this to fanboys who have no problem(and seem to have endless amounts of money) on anything Bond related. :?

Umm yeah. This coming from the person who always defended MI6 when it was pointed out-rightfully so- how bad it was ?Your point is invalid. The rah rahing Daniel Craig to the point of obnoxiousness went away when certain posters were banned. As I said on another thread, Sweeney isn't rude about it, so I give him some leeway. I consider him a friend.
