Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I'd take comped movie tickets...not to Spyfail, though. I have a movie theater gift card my aunt and uncle give me money for(it's reusable) every Christmas, so it's pretty much a free movie every time .And I can use it at the concession stand!

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Free tickets count as a box office admission? That's like volunteer jobs counting as a job in the USA unemployment numbers, which they do, but it does ZERO to help the economy. Why can't Eon hand out 1 million free tickets then?Omega wrote:got to. its $10 to $8 towards the ticket price I think this is partly why QoS had a big weekend then fell off a cliff. those free tickets were everywhere, since they missed putting them in the Bond 50 maybe because those buyer would be less interested in the new Bond, the other possibility is any new fox sony movie they could put a free ticket in it, but I don't see anything really big coming down the line before its released.bjmdds wrote:Free tickets? That counts as money big O?

There you have it. Nolan wasn't suggesting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the Boy Wonder or Nightwing. His name was just "coincidentally" Robin as a nod to the famous character. He was no more than John Blake.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
"Director Sam Mendes does well to ground the human elements of the film, but an early sequence in which Bond has to sneak up on and apprehend a sniper atop a Shanghai skyscraper is as about as exciting as a game of musical statues. Lost in a maze of reflections and shadows, Craig seems to be at a total loss as to what he should be doing or why this extended waltz is at all necessary, especially when all it leads to is a standard punch-up.
Skyfall – and if the title itself grates, it makes no sense whatsoever within the context of the film – is littered with such moments. When Bond and Bardem’s Silva meet for the first time, for instance, they share a fine exchange, not to mention an unexpected sexual frisson. This, again, slowly deteriorates into a dull roundelay of lisped provocation and empty, wholly expected, gunplay. Mendes doesn’t seem at all able to modulate the action or pile on the spectacle. Maybe that’s why there’s so little in the film.
Despite the odd retro bulldog flourish, stylistically the film is more Bourne than Bond, with Craig doing a lot more running and punching than shagging and gyro-coptering."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/1 ... 70831.html Sweeney, how is this for a Bond plot? I warned all a year ago this was coming with Eon. FBF, if this film earns 1 cent more than Cr-egg's first 2 Bond films you can send in the Kraken, George the animal Steele, Hulk Hogan, Brother Love, Rowdy Roddy Piper, The Undertaker, Paul Bearer, Jerry Mathers, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, and Leftover Louie Lymon as Bond because that would demonstrate a corrupt and decadent society here in the USA to embrace such stuff

The film series’ producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have said publicly they want Craig to break Roger Moore’s record of seven 007 films, and Craig sure seems to be on board with that as well. “I’m incredibly proud and lucky to be in this position … As soon as we get the script I’ll be really up for doing 24, and hopefully this will be a success and we’ll have some momentum,” he said. (This is the sheer madness of these morons or is it the IPO talking? )

I'd like a theater around me to do this its small town kind of deal so no big chains with cards like in Grand Junction, Denver, Albuquerque.katied wrote:I'd take comped movie tickets...not to Spyfail, though. Rental or digital works for me.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Places like San Diego tend to do a lot of promoting of big movies-ads in our weekly local paper and the like which means they will probably be packed with people. Never got the appeal of going to advance screenings myself.

Sheeeettt....I have a relative who works at the theater. He just told me tonight that the IMAX version is coming out that Thursday on the 8th...not 9th. So I hope he can sneak me in for free.FormerBondFan wrote:

He sums up exactly what we here already knew
http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/352 ... fall-12A-/ "JAMES BOND is celebrating 50 years on the big screen, but the world’s favourite secret agent seems to be running out of puff."............."More than any other Bond movie Skyfall makes a great play of Bond’s advancing years, as Daniel Craig’s occasionally rather gaunt looking 007 exudes a feeling of exhaustion and ennui with his job. Hot encounters with glamorous ladies? Here it looks as though 007 hardly has the stamina, enjoying only one brief clinch in a shower with Berenice Marlohe’s lovely Severine."......"The emphasis on personal dramas and intrigues results in some terrific exchanges, enhanced by perhaps the strongest cast ever assembled for a Bond movie. Yet it detracts from the film’s purpose as an action-thriller, gradually sapping momentum and suspense from the storyline."..........."It starts with a thrilling bang and a spectacular pre-title sequence in Istanbul (one of the top five openings for a Bond film) but gradually reduces to a small scale, low-key, seriously misjudged climax in an isolated Scottish house where little is at stake.
The desire for emotional intensity is undermined by some ill-judged quips and rather preposterous oldie action as Dench and Albert Finney’s ageing family gamekeeper let rip with grenades and firearms. Skyfall is still a vast improvement on Quantum Of Solace, but it’s no Casino Royale."...............leave it to me to find the TRUTH about this garbage film as opposed to Sweeney's overzealous attempt to have us here all believe in this ridiculous notion that Bond 23 is a billion dollar babyIn their dreams
FBF, the avatars may not be required after reading this review
Trust my instincts on this.......this critic nailed it perfectly
And this is what I feared the most. We had a discussion on Facebook a few months ago about the cast selected for this movie. I had a strong feeling that this would happen....that the cast will get too much screen time and James Bond would almost be a secondary character in the movie. Also, that the cast will be the ones who make the film good, not Daniel Craig. Maybe the director felt DC can't take the ball and run with it. Another reason why the reboot was a bad idea. We go from a brand new agent and then two films later....he's a washed up agent. SMH.

Man, they're smoking crack too. Does anyone have that feeling that EON is trying to stuff DC down our throats?bjmdds wrote:The film series’ producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Probably and they'll do it until he does a Sir Roger bottoming out the franchise after staying too long. Obviously Sir Roger proved his merit, even against Sir Sean 1983, however after For Your Eyes Only 007 was on a declining trajectory that Eon could not correct before 1995.Jermaine76 wrote:Man, they're smoking crack too. I personally think Craig will do just one more Bond film, as he may be too old to do another after that.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I truly think it depends on how the script for the fourth turns out and the scheduled. MGM hired writers (supposedly), it should be in the works over how normally Eon does it. Next Spring they may realise they need a script.... and co-stars.The Sweeney wrote:I personally think Craig will do just one more Bond film, as he may be too old to do another after that.
When asked Daniel always says is 'lets see how this one goes.', so lets see how this one goes. If it were up to Barbara alone he'd be enslaved until the end of time. Long after the franchise had been ground to dust.
I do think Skyfall may suffer form too many cooks in the kitchen and rushed script. Obviously it's not as distasteful as QOS was (so far), I still think there may be issues that were not ironed out in the finished product.
I doubt I'll see this one at all, that woman as MP is the deal breaker. Nothing against her personally, the idea of how they want to reinvent MP is inappropriate. I could name ten more, not much on their own but they add up.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The early press reviews aren't supposed to talk about any specifics, hence why most of them are vague, and when this one has broken that rule, it sounds more like a reviewer looking for a cheap way to make a name for himself, going against the tide.bjmdds wrote:The review I showed makes sense based on everything we knew about this film leading up to it's release. The critic does say it is better than QOS;however, he finds it lacking to CR, and he points out SPECIFIC CELLULOID FILM scenes which back up his review, not the Mendes pre-paid lovefests you find that mention ridiculous OSCAR nominations yet give NO specificity to their claims, just over admiring admiration for a film with great actors, great dialogue, etc.
