Bond 24 reboot - you are the producer
Bond 24 reboot - you are the producer
I think we did a thread like this before, but it was a long time ago and I can't find it, so I'm starting another one. So here's the scenario: Skyfall is the box-office bomb we all want it to be and Sony decide they can no longer work with EON Productions. So instead of Babs and Mikey producing the next film, the job goes to...you! The film is a soft reboot, not starting the continuity afresh like CR, but replacing most of the key cast and crew, a la GE or LALD. It's your job to cast the key recurring roles (Bond, M, Q, Moneypenny) and archetypes (main villain, henchman, love interest, bad girl), and also pick the main crew members. You can also say a little about your picks afterwards, as I will do later on in this post. So without further ado...
Bond: Henry Cavill (of course)
M: Geoffrey Palmer
Q: Tom Baker
Moneypenny: Isla Fisher
Villain: Robert de Niro
Henchman: Vinnie Jones
Love interest: Sophia Myles
Bad girl: Janet Montgomery
Director: Vic Armstrong
Screenplay: Steven Moffat & Mark Gatiss
Music: David Arnold
Production design: Denis Gassner
Director of Photography: Andrew Lesnie
Costume designer: Lindy Hemming
Arnold, Gassner and Hemming have all done good work on the series, so I would retain their services. Armstrong, as I have said in the past, is the sort of person who would probably be directing Bond films if Cubby was still in charge; no auteur, but a competent action director who has worked his way up the ranks in the old-fashioned way ("old-fashioned" is meant as a compliment in this case). Lesnie is a friend of Armstrong's who did sterling work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy, among others.
The casting of Myles, who played Mme de Pompadour in the Doctor Who episode The Girl in the Fireplace, is pure personal bias on my part - of all the "celebrities" I follow on Twitter, she's the only one who's ever followed me back. Montgomery played a master criminal in Human Target, but her character quickly degenerated into airheaded comedy relief. I'd have her character closer to what it was in her first couple of appearances in the show. And Moffatt & Gatiss are both Bond fans who reimagined Sherlock Holmes intelligently and could probably do the same for Bond.
OK, your turn.

I forgot a third female archetype: the sacrificial lamb. But she's often the same person as the bad girl, and I don't really have any ideas for who I'd like to cast anyway.
So does nobody else want to have a go? Or are my choices so perfect that they can't be improved upon?

Yes!! I can't see any thing wrong with your choices. If only you could have inherited the James Bond movie franchise instead of someone who loathes the classic series.
David McCallum would make a good Q similar to his NCIS role.
007's choice of director would be a good idea.

I actually might have to change my mind about Q as well. It would be brilliant to see Tom Baker on the big screen again, but David Mitchell would be absolutely perfect as Q.Capt. Sir Dominic Flandry wrote: 007's choice of director would be a good idea.

I think Sophia Myles would make a great Miss Moneypenny. Henry should be Bond and BJMDDS should be the costume designer.

Re: Bond 24 reboot - you are the producer
I am currently working on my own full cast timeline for the Bond films if I were in charge. I have "made" a handful of film allready, but not one for 2014. When I do, i'll post that cast list here.

Ooh I like casting Amy Adams as Moneypenny(even if she's American). She's been in some good movies(loved her in both Doubt and Julie and Julia)

I'm against the idea of former Bond actors returning in another role. I don't really know why, it just feels wrong somehow.bjamesobrad wrote:what would you guys think if Sir Roger Moore returned to the franchise as Q?![]()

Yeah, I have to agree..not keen on the idea of "recycling" a former Bond actor in another role.

I agree I dont like the idea of recycled actors in differant roles, but Moore could do it I think. If he had never been Bond would you think he'd be good in the role then? Still rather see Cleese return

You'd bring Lee Tamahori back? Was he asked back
they usually ask the last director to come back for the next movie.
I'd like John McTiernan to direct a Bond.
The Cast I'm not sure about.
Colin Salmon as M maybe.
Q is hard to cast, I don't think a young man is necessary.
