In other news, I'm super happy the Avengers is breaking box office all-time records and seriously hope it breaks Avatar's record as I detest Avatar (and I loved the Avengers). Sorry to disagree with FBF and BJ but I DO think the new Spiderman looks very good and people sound very excited for it. The trailer is very good. I also NEVER thought Tobey McGuire was particularly good as Spiderman, I find him way too baby-faced and insipid to play Spiderman. I do think Andrew is a better choice. He sure looks more like the Peter Parker I saw in cartoons as a kid than McGuire did. Both the trailers for the Amazing SpiderMan look great. And they look a lot like the stories from the comics, that I saw in cartoons as a kid. I think it'll do very well at the box office.
Trailers are all action packed Ms. Bouvier. It attempts to pique one's interest:however, once they see the poor villain(a talking reptile) and the lack of chemistry between Spiderman and his girlfriend and they have to endure Sally Field and Martin Sheen as well as more of this psyche evaluation of Peter Parker finding himself, it will be all over and I will tell you that if Cavill's Superman delves as well into any analysis of why he SHOULD be Superman, you can kiss that plot good bye as well. We shall see who is correct on Spiderman. If I am wrong, so be it, but I do NOT see this as a film to spend money on. The Bat, MI:4, The Hobbit, Twiight, The Avengers, all get a big  for seeing this year. Garfield the cat's Spiderman and Quasimodo's Bond 23 get a huge  , right FBF? Prediction: Spiderman does UNDER $500 million worldwide.

Better for Spidey reboot to make more than Bond 23 at the box office.

MI4 was last year. This year is all about Avengers, the Bat, vampires, and Middle Earth creatures. And we'll need more than that to annihilate Bond 23. DC's Bond career shall end like Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of WWII.

And where is Matt Damon when you need him in the next Bourne? It would nice if Matt has a cameo role in it or at least an achieved footage of him.

This poster makes more sense. I saw art work for the last season of Chuck they mimicked the QOS standing in desert angry look but some how it was cooler. Helps the blond is hot as hell I guess.

ROFL. So wrong but so right. That poster is so easy to goof on. What happened to the days when Bond movie posters had a zillion things going on in them(thinking specifically of the Roger Moore era).

Rogers had so much going on it was almost a spoiler. I can't remember if there were "teaser" poster back in the day. It was always exciting to see the new poster so much art and so much action in one frame. Hollywood has lost the art of good movie poster.

Pierce's first teaser was the best by a long shot. Even today not knowing the excitement of Bond coming back with a new actor after a 6 year absence it is an impressive poster.

TWIN's silhouette poster was a good teaser too.
http://imgc.allpostersimages.com/images ... enough.jpg

DAD's gun melting on ice was pretentious drivel. CR throu todays less than auspicious offering falls in the pretentious drivel category too.,

It's a conceptually stupid idea to begin with. A movie based on a fairly simplistic board game? Really? Then they cast Rhianna and make the plot have nothing to do with the naval warfare of the game but some alien invasion crap that looks suspiciously like Transformers, and they expect it to be a monster hit? Whoever greenlighted this should lose their job over at Universal.

I wanted Battleship to do well for two reasons: 1)Taylor Kitsch whom I LOVE and 2) Peter Berg. It is bombing BIG TIME. I am sad, I really am. :(

BJ: lol we have different concepts of "Failure" for Spiderman. I think around $500 mln would be just fine. I also think you're very much underestimating Andrew Garfield's popularity, especially over here.. he's VERY popular in Europe. What do you mean no chemistry? There's even too much of that... He and Emma Stone are dating (in real life) so all the fangirls will bear that in mind when watching the movie as well, and they will go check it out. Garfield is extremely popular with the "tween" female portion of the audience, so that'll help. Also, if anything, Sally Field and Martin Sheen will HELP sell the movie more over here as they are regarded as big stars and very respectable actors. And Denis O'Leary as the bad guy will also help. Still, we can't know now of course... Battleship had all the ingredients to be successful (Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgaard first and foremost) and yet it's bombing miserably. So who knows.

That said, I can't know NOW what the market will be like in July, but the buzz around the movie is very positive. I can guarantee you Tobey McGuire was FAR less known over here than Garfield is, and yet his movies did just fine. I really never found McGuire to be particularly good as Spiderman, he looks so ordinary and is way too baby-faced to be Peter Parker for me. I watched all the movies because I like Spiderman (just like I watched all the Superman movies because I like Superman) but I never thought much of him. I preferred James Franco  You're right that the villain may be weak, depending on where they take it with the plot, but I think so far the buzz has been very positive and let's face it, if it does well on opening weekend they'll be all set. And it will I think. (I mean opening weekend worldwide, not just US). Also, I'll take Emma Stone over Kirsten Dunst ANY day.

I have read the plot of Superman and it's got nothing to do with the Spiderman one. Entirely different. And it's just an entirely different set of actors, too. Nothing to do with it. Also, over here Superman has always been the most popular of the superheroes, so that alone guarantees more viewers for it. My mom doesn't like superhero stuff at all for example, but she DID watch all the Superman movies... because it's Superman. I didn't manage to convince her to watch "The Avengers" LOL. But I'll trick her into it  It's so entertaining, she really should watch.

They could have made Battleship into a WWII film.
