Everyone say the Oscars were a "Bore-fest", I don't get why so many watch it.

I think the Oscars are way out of touch with the people who see and buy the movies. Avatar revolutionized the movies a few years ago but wasn't recognized for all it did. I don't think what Hollywood appreciates in a movie is the same thing most people out side of Hollywood appreciate.

It was boring. Crystal was right when he said 'in these economic times people are not interested in seeing millionaires give each other gold statues', to paraphrase his comment. Snoozer for sure.

Tattoo is done in the USA, now only playing on weekends and grossing under $180,000 for the entire weekend. Flop again for Cr-egg. How many flops before Ms. B gets sexually turned off of him, and releases him from his contract? He is the worst lead actor I ever saw that was paid so much, promoted so much, yet LOST millions every time for the studios. Repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is stark insanity, which now best defines MGW, Pascal, and Ms. Cruciferous.

Just one, but it has to be Skyfall. And it won't be Babs who releases him from his contract, it will be the studio.

Skyfall's James Bond: man or machine?
Sam Mendes is hinting at a more human 007. But won't the director be forced to stick to the all-action hardman?
So far, in the slowly percolating side-drama that is the buildup to Skyfall, the 23rd 007 adventure and the first from director Sam Mendes, it's been all about Daniel Craig's James Bond. We had trunky Bond, sitting on the edge of a gleaming swimming pool and reminding us that he's still got deltoids to die for in the first behind-the-scenes shot of the new movie; then beardy Bond, superimposed on a background that looked like something out of Blade Runner, staring into the distance with Walther PPK raised and ready. Clearly the team at Eon productions have decided it's about time to focus on the man who is actually driving this thing. Mendes' debut video blog features only fleeting glimpses of 007 and is all about the man behind the cameras. Is this really going to be an auteurish take on Ian Fleming's suave super-sleuth, or will the Oscar-winning director wind up toeing the Eon party line as so many others have done before him? Perhaps – just perhaps – this v-log (sorry) is designed to convince doubters that he's all set to accomplish both. After the usual gumpf about being a fan of Bond since he was a toddler (OK, nine) and loving Martin Campbell's Casino Royale reboot, we get this line: "It struck me that it is still possible to make a big, glamourous, fabulous, escapist movie and still say something about the world we're living in." Will 007 find himself trapped in a loveless suburban marriage, American Beauty style, or twiddling his thumbs on the secret service sidelines as Mendes plumps for the Jarhead approach? Probably not, but the Bond bigwigs are certainly flagging up the British film-maker's potential to add a touch of human drama to the 007 mix. Do you believe them?

You have got to be kidding. What a bomb this will be. It's basically DC running in and out of buildings or being in a car chase. “I felt like he was a real man in a real situation again, and it reminded me of the way I felt when I watched the Sean Connery movies,” Sam Mendes said in the video of Daniel‘s performance.

Last we heard, Sony still plans to move forward with adapting "The Girl Who Played With Fire." "['Dragon Tattoo'] continues to do strong business and nothing has changed with respect to development of the next book," a rep from Sony told Entertainment Weekly back in January. The film is apparently on target for a late 2013 release date, though someone better keep Mara in the loop on that. Turns out that Mara hasn't learned too much about that plan, though. MTV News caught up with Mara on the Oscar red carpet and asked her if she had heard of anything about adapting the next two "Millennium Trilogy" novels, and she didn't have much news to share. "I don't know anything. I wish that I had the answers," she said. "You know, I hope that we get to make the other two, but I just don't know anything yet." (Strong business? Spin won't help).

Fox beat CBS in the ratings last night thanks to NASCAR. Sure, it meant they had better ratings..but given the choice, I'd much rather watch what's on Fox(well, when NASCAR's not on, I mean) than CBS. Fox needs something to get them out of the ratings suck that is American Idol though.

Sadly, this is exactly the truth.

Flu has finally let me go though I'm still recovering, but at least I feel human again. Speaking of, BJ, the ratings for Smash are just fine for NBC, actually sensationally good for them in that timeslot. They haven't had such ratings on Monday night at 10 in YEARS. So it's no problem whatsoever... I knew it wouldn't keep the numbers it had in the premiere, it is NBC after all. But it's fine, and it even beat Castle in the 18-49 demo on Monday night, so no worries. And the show is sensational. It's truly great. Reason why it can't have massive ratings, it's too smart and theater-educated for the average viewer. On the other hand, the Voice is now basically crushing Idol  That makes me laugh because I said last season, after watching just a shortened first season of the Voice, that it would be way bigger this season. I honestly didn't expect it to do better than Idol at all, but at this point I think Idol has become so stale and uninteresting that it's become easier to beat it, especially with a show that has actual big music celebrities as coaches, instead of just being "judges". It's a much more modern, "fresher" take on the subject. No wonder it does way better.

That said, the best show on TV right now remains Person of Interest. It gets better each week, for me it's like watching Alias all over again and being positively surprised each passing week. Both the writing and the acting is superb. And man, Jim Caviezel would make a GREAT James Bond. Too bad he's American.

I see that TGWTDT has sunk to even lower lows? AND they're trying to sell out fake numbers?  So pathetic.

Meantime, Skyfall looks less interesting and less James Bond-like each passing minute. It's depressing.

Making up numbers is nothing new-I seem to recall some plumping up of numbers when QOS came out on DVD. Not making it up-the big display for QOS was out of the front of the store in most places pretty quickly.

TGWTDT was not the awards darling it was supposed to be Sony sunk a ton of cash into it and has not seen the reward for it financially or otherwise. I think that Rooney Mara has no clue if the sequel are going ahead says it all right now. Fincher has zero interest with the sequels and will still be getting a multimillion dollar payday regardless if he makes them or not. Sony misjudged the marker rushing to make TGWTDT, the original plan of one Millennium Trilogy movie each year made sense if they were a hit, pushing back to 2013 or 2014 for the next sequel is a little too far away to keep the public interest.

A series like Batman, Potter or Bond can afford to have lulls in production but you'll notice in the most successful times these franchises stay in constant production. Even a two or three year gap the work never stops. Potters were filming back to back and only delayed for financial reasons that made sense to the studio.

All correct. TGWTDT not only didn't deliver at the box office, but it didn't even garner them any award publicity either... I do not know what Amy Pascal is thinking, but it's clear this will be fixed by someone else if she doesn't. The movie premiered here a couple of weeks ago and it didn't do well at all here either. I am personally opposed to the concept of the movie per se, I'm not into this type of absolutely gratuitously violent movie (violent in terms of sexual violence primarily). I don't find it appealing, or interesting. If I want to get depressed, I watch TV news, I don't go to the movies. And in the times we're living in right now, nobody wants to go to the cinema to be depressed. It's very simple really, but clearly Amy Pascal doesn't get it whenever there's something she needs to put Daniel Craig in because of previous agreements. Quite absurd from a business standpoint.

Glad Ms. Bouvier is back.......this should lift her spirits...... http://bestmoviesevernews.com/wp-conten ... 346975.jpg Smash is a smash for NBC, not the rest of the major networks in terms of ratings. NBC is so bad that they proudly welcome 6.5 million viewers for ANY of their programming. The heads at NBC are as clueless as the Three Mush-keteers, Pascal, MGW, and the green vegetable running the Bond franchise. You wonder how and why these people are still in their power positions.
