"I would like to be very clear: This was never about crossing the unmarked border between Iran and Iraq. We were held because of our nationality," Bauer said. "The only explanation for our prolonged detention is the 32 years of mutual hostility between America and Iran. The irony is that Sarah, Josh and I oppose U.S. policies towards Iran which perpetuate this hostility. We were convicted of espionage because we are American. It is that simple. No evidence was ever presented against us; that is because there is no evidence and because we were completely innocent. The two court sessions we attended were a total sham. They were made up of ridiculous lies that depicted us as being part of a conspiracy to undermine Iran.

Shane said the three of them had "experienced a taste of the Iranian regime's brutality."

"We have been held in almost total isolation from the world and everything we love, stripped of our rights and freedom. You may ask us, now that you are free, can you forgive the Iranian government for what it has done to you? Our answer is this: How can we forgive the Iranian government when it continues to imprison so many other innocent people and prisoners of conscience? It is the Iranian people who bear the brunt of this government's cruelty and disregard for human rights. There are people in Iran who are imprisoned for years, simply for attending a protest, for writing a pro-democracy blog, or for, worse, being an unpopular faith. Journalists remain behind bars and innocent people have been executed.

"If the Iranian government wants to change its image in the world, and ease international pressure, it should release all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience immediately. They deserve their freedom just as much as we do," Bauer said.

"In prison, every time we complained about our conditions, the guards would immediately remind us of comparable conditions at Guantanamo Bay. They would remind us of CIA prisons in other parts of the world, and the conditions that Iranians and others experience in prisons in the U.S. We do not believe that such human rights violations on the part of our government justify what has been done to us, not for a moment. However, we do believe that these actions on the part of the U.S provide an excuse for other governments, including the governments of Iran, to act in kind." {These moronic statements, by obvious liberal to a fault 29 year olds, are the exact type of people that support Bill Maher, Michael Moore, Jon Stewart, and all of the other Hollywood elitists with like minded thoughts.}

IMHO Obama 's approval rating are going to continue sinking his tax hike / stimulus 3 was bad enough then embracing those weirdo trying take over wall street wasa huge mistake he no longer looks anything like the man we elected he looks like a guy would love riots if it serves his purpose, the political ends justifiy the means.

Those druged out kids are scary to majority of americans, we want a fair tax system but not to be confiscating the wealth of the rich like a eastren block country! I know if I had my way we be doing in a way what these thugs want, giving them money so they are at the minimum income to put all americans above the poverty line. Sadly now the DNC and unions are going to start astro turfing these protests which is a mistake since most americans do not want what these crazy misinformed kids are after.

You knwo I hear people talkign a bout how american want higher taxes on the wealthy and companies and we do because we know too many pay nothing, unlike what I say about gun laws (we do not need more gun laws we need to enforce the one we have) but the problem is the tax laws were written from the start to favor the rich corporations because of the corrupt politicians we need is honest to goodness tax reforms and a simple tax code anyone can understand.

The flip side of most american wanting the rich / corporations to pay a fair rate is unlike what the demarcates want we do not want increased taxes to pay for the current bloated size of government.Obama and harry reid want to raise taxes so they do not have to make real cuts. But if we are to survive as a country we must start cutting the wast and the size of government, most Americans understand this,.

I'm not a fan of quoting single polls, but so far, I've only seen one on the Occupy Wall Street protests, from Rasmussen. It seems "the majority of Americans" don't have an opinion one way or another: 33% were in favour, 27% against, 40% don't know. That may change now that they are starting to get media coverage after the initial media blackout.

There was a media blackout for a long time and the news media only started covering them when the protests got too big to ignore, unlike the Tea Party, where the motto was "whenever two or three are gathered in my name, a camera crew will be there with them". It's a whole lot easier to get coverage when you're protesting in favour of the 1% than when you're protesting against them. Edit: I don't think you'll find much love for Obama there either.

There was NO media blackout here in NYC Kris. Your statement is 100% erroneous. We are fed up here in NYC with the freedom Mayor Bloomberg has given these losers. The Tea Party movement does not represent the top 1% of wage earners Kris. Where are you getting that from? The people are mostly middle class working people who are fed up with doling out welfare to cheats, fed up with Democrats and Republicans wasting tax payer dollars, who do not want mandated government health care, and think Oh-bama is as full of it as Bush was. Let them congregate, defecate, and have sex outside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, protesting the fraudulent $535 million that Solyndra got from Oh-bama, another $787 million that Pelosi's brother-in-law got from Oh-bama, and another $1.2 billion that went to a third bogus solar panel company that Oh-bama OK'd. 1% has NOTHING to do with the the Tea party movement. People who receive government assistance have ZERO right complaining about OTHERS funding their wallets. Tea Party people did not destroy property and congregate like hippie morons in parks and defecate on police cars and have sex in tents while loitering in parks. This was a 3 month planned socialist attempt by worldwide freeloaders to squawk and litter, while they use their I-pads, I-phones, and laptops that were created by a capitalistic society that they claim they now hate. My friend lives 15 blocks from their protest. He cannot believe the nonsense allowed there by our police commissioner Ray Kelly who is itching to break up this loitering once and for all except his hands are being tied by the omnipotent liberal Bloomberg.........for now. If this illegal occupation of property does not end soon, look for violence to ensue because our police are FED UP with them. When you look at the two movements, the Tea Party wins their argument hands down.

{We know that the original movement was kicked off by a Soros-funded group called Adbusters; that union groups and radicals routinely overthrow leadership unfriendly to an occupation of the occupation (check out how Occupy St. Louis was hijacked by ACORN off-shoot MORE); and now we know that media, including MSNBC itself, is apparently helping occupiers better influence the public by both writing their messages and giving them a platform.
So how long are we going to pretend that this is a “grassroots” uprising?
And how can the media continue to report on the occupy movement objectively when it’s part of it?} Dylan Ratigan of MSNBC and Mike Taibbi of Rolling Stone are advising these Soros funded bums. It was only a matter of time before the truth came out. http://bigjournalism.com/dloesch/2011/1 ... t-message/

I feel sorry for the occupy people I do believe some, not most of them some of them had a true fire int eh belly to do something good even this is lost because of the pure crazy people and not the Obama has bought and paid for the movement. I looked at thier demands and it might as well have the disclaimer "I'm Brack Obama and I approve this message."

The Democrats are furiously trying to co-opt this movement, but I hope the OWS protestors tell them to get stuffed. The whole movement was born of a realisation that both the major parties are in the pockets of the 1%, and it'd be a shame if Obama was able to win them over with a few platitudes.
