Will Blofeld Be The Villain In Bond 23?

Every great hero has a great villain. Batman has The Joker. Sherlock Holmes has Professor Moriarty. Luke Skywalker has Darth Vader. Professor X has Magneto. Sure, the protagonists may occasionally go off and battle smaller, less important villains, but they are nothing without their most powerful foe. For James Bond, that villain has always been Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the leader of SPECTRE. But despite Blofeld's importance, the character hasn't actually shown up in a007 movie since 1981's For Your Eyes Only (there have been 10 movies in the franchise since, not including Never Say Never Again). Eventually Blofeld will come back to terrorize Bond, but what you may not know is that it could happen sooner than you think.

WhatCulture! recently attended a lecture for BAFTA Screenwriters where Bond 23 scribe John Logan hinted at the possible return of Blofeld in the new film. During the question and answer segment of the talk, one of the audience members told Logan that he once said "Bond should always fight Blofeld" and asked if it there was any chance the great antagonist would be back for the new film. Logan's response was simple: "Bond should always fight Blofeld."Also interesting, Logan said that the project is being given two weeks of rehearsal time, which is rarely happens nowadays. Bond 23 will be directedby Sam Mendes and the only confirmed cast member for the film so far is Daniel Craig, who will be returning as Bond for the third time. Set to go into production later this year, the movie has a set release date of November 9, 2012.

Back when it was first reported that Javier Bardem had been approached to play Bond's newest villain, I hoped that it was being set up that the actor would actually be playing the leader of Quantum, the secret evil organization first heard about in Marc Foster's Quantum of Solace and hinted at in Casino Royale. Now it looks like that dream could become an actual reality. What do we think, dear readers? Should it be revealed that a Blofeld is the leader of Quantum? Do you want Javier Bardem to play the character? If not, who would you prefer? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
Two questions: What does two weeks of rehearsal time entail? & When do the Blofeld lawsuits begin?

Obviously Eon seems to think they didn't get enough rehearsal time for QoS which is why Quanutm of Rubbish was rubbish, not the story. Continuing the faux trilogy, MGW and Craig said was finished after QoS seems like a gamble. Will anyone care about 'Quantum' 6 years after the first of the 'trilogy' and 4 years after the lamentable Qos gave name a new name to the SPECTRE wanna be group.

Who ever inherited Kevin McClory's right is probably calling a lawyer right now.

It is curious how more and more are noticing there has been no official casting confirmation. So far we have Craig and Dench and that's it.

The whole "will Blofeld be in the next Bond film" is a very dead, very tender horse.

They sort of set up a Blofeld figure in the first two, I don't think it would be a good move to use Blofeld maybe another name. Still maybe they could do something new.

Yeah,I've suggested that they have a sort of "Not Blofeld" if they're going to do so. They sure aas h#ll can't do the bald head/cat version of him.

The film will be called bond, himself and iren...( I mean m) scenes go from one to another where his left fist is hitting the right part of his face then his right the left part then he somehow throws himself off a ledge trying to strangle himself, bond later puts on a wig saying I don't need anyone else anymore, decides to have an operation to be a shemale and him and m fulfill the stupid equality ad and bond goes to quantum and slaps them in the face with his bag, pouts then walks off, knowing that m is desperate she tries to stop bond, bond is now a complete schizo with no way back, m16 call in the ace in the hole, a tall man with black hair and suaveness shows up, gets his orders, bond takes on the guy and before he dies asks one thing...who are you...the man replies...bond...james bond (shoots the mad bond) takes over his place, a male m takes over old ms place and he said he'll do his upmost for queen and country at the end he orders a martini from the bar he asks for a martini, the guy says I thought you didn't give a d**n, bond says, you must've got me mixed up with someone who didn't give a d**n, then talks to the woman at the bar called (insert sexual pun), gets a call that q branch are in the area then gets the letter for his next mission to stop a guy who's holding some country at ransom and threatening to use his chemical weapons if they don't accept his demands, m16 engage the terrorist asks them and they decline, he says they have 2 days till this country is off the map, new m sends out bond, q gives him some gadgets.

Q: be careful 007, these people don't mess around
007:...now, now q, not in front of everyone (laughs)
q: do grow up 007
New m: he's right though bond time is of the essence and we can't afford to mess this up
007: you have my word as an agent for her majestys secret service I will complete my mission and stop his plans, as long as I have a license to kill I'll put it to the best of My abilities (bond then gets in astin martin and drives off).
q: what if he fails?
m: 007 never fails.

Sorry that was a bit cheesy.

Why did they never get Patrick Stewart? He would be great a villain or whatever. If he were Blofeld it would be like Telly Savalas.

I guess back then it was due to star trek the next generation then going onto x-men, however he could do it now as long as it's under the next bond instead and a competent director, having Sir Patrick act in the same film as Craig would be a true insult to the guys talents and he needs a great actor to work off him.

The only blofelt that could be put against creggs bond is a thug which mirrors creggs bond, the blofelt who had class just like bond who also had that just aren't gonna show in this shoddy unecessary reboot to a series that was doing fine for 40+ years and had no reason whatsoever to be changed and turned back the clock, Cubby would've torn barbs to pieces by now if he was still around sooner she's gone and the sooner this reboot is brushed underneath the carpet like some bad dream along with cregg and the crap he's brought with his version of bond the better, I know bond changed with each actor but most of them carried over the essential elements and stayed true to his character, cregg is the black sheep and he needs to go, keanu reeves almost expresses emotion better than him and that says a lot.

Interestingly, Sir Patrick worked with Pierce 2 decades ago in Detonator.

Sir Patrick doesn't need Bond. I say he should collaborate with Pierce again.

Considering Mr Stewart is atleast 27 years older than craig (he's 70) that's a real embarrisment for cregg  , maybe cregg should give up filmwork and do the olivio olive oil ads instead :P ...or last of the summer wine (if it was still running).

I know Walter Koenig slightly. He would make an AMAZING villain.
