ANKARA - Anatolia News Agency

Two producers working on the upcoming James Bond movie, part of which will be filmed in Istanbul, visited the Turkish minister of culture and tourism on Tuesday.

The upcoming James Bond movie will be another installment in the world’s longest film series and is special because it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the series.

Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the U.S. producers of the film, visited Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Ertuğrul Günay in his office Tuesday and provided information about the new film. Copyrights and General Director of Cineam Abdurrahman Çeli and producer Ali Akdeniz were also present during the visit.

“The opening scenes are planned to be filmed in Istanbul, but some other places will also be used outside Istanbul for the film,” Günay said.

Günay said the James Bond series received many viewers around the world. “Some places where these films were made have become attractive for tourists. The fact that the opening scene of the film will be made in Turkey will contribute to Turkish tourism. The ministry has been providing big support to the film sector for five years; our filmmakers win international awards. Our goal is to bring international producers to our country, and we do our best to assist foreign filmmakers who want to work here.”

Wilson, who said the film would be released next year, was grateful for Turkish hospitality. “It is a great pleasure for us to be in Istanbul for the 50th anniversary of the series.”

“We are proud to see that James Bond is still a well-known character in Turkey,” Broccoli said.

The U.S. producers presented a collector’s edition of the James Bond series to Günay.
Still a well know character in Turkey? Wonder what she means by that?

Poor MGW looks a bit worn. :(

Ah the personal touch dropping off the bribe ($32) in person.

Babs was trying to be nice looking back at the history of the franchise however it could be insulting to the people of Turkey if they chose to take that way. Turkey is a small market for Bond, less than 2 million each outing, to them that is just as good as nothing. They spend more than this on Danno's fake tan.

LMAO!!    But please do not call him Danno. Danno is Hawaii Five 0 and I enjoy Scott Caan in the role immensely! He's hilarious and kicks ass! LOL

Guess we have our answer with regards to the India problem.. Turkey is next. Except while India is a big market for them Turkey isn't... so more money thrown out the window. I am just wondering when the HELL are Sony and MGM finally going to raise their voice? It's just ridiculous.
