The buzz: Despite a dream cast and Oscar-nominated director Jim Sheridan (“My Left Foot,” “In America”), “Dream House” arrives in theaters with a tidal wave of bad industry buzz and the somewhat shocking decision not to hold preview screenings for critics to review. Reportedly, Sheridan clashed repeatedly during filming with production company Morgan Creek, and wasn’t permitted to shepherd the film through post-production. Whatever the disagreements, Sheridan, Craig and Weisz all refused to promote the final product.

The verdict: If you’ve seen the film’s controversial trailer, you already know a major plot twist that isn’t revealed on screen until halfway through the action. And if you’ve had that much spoiled, there’s simply no point in slogging through the rest of this pitiful waste of talent. You’re far better off watching or rewatching any number of genuinely good movies where things aren’t quite what they seem (“Shutter Island,” “Inception,” “The Sixth Sense” or “Solaris” to start). It’s impossible to discuss the layers of stupidity in “Dream House” without ruining the ludicrous turns not already covered in the trailer. Suffice it to say that as a thriller it’s a total bore with minimal suspense and next to none of the horror elements emphasized in the promotional campaign. As drama it’s hackneyed at best, offensive at worst (especially in the ineptly exploitative use of murdered children). The prolonged time spent with Will and his family doesn’t do anything to establish relationships worth caring about, but even if the snoozy opening acts generated some kind of interest or emotional investment, the laughably preposterous climax would blow it all to pieces. If David Loucka’s original screenplay was anywhere near as idiotic as the blatantly derivative final product, it’s impossible to understand why any of the Oscar-caliber talent signed on. So it’s best to believe that at some point this was a well-intentioned project ultimately unraveled by creative squabbling. Even if that explanation is nothing but a dream.

How many movies can Craig crash and burn!? He has his biggest cheering section here wanting him to see succeed away from Bond, he can not seem to do it for the life of him, if The Millennium Trilogy cashes and burns with the first one it has got to be called the Craig Curse.

I saw The Debt, which believe has just come out in the UK-a good comparison would be Munich(there are similarities in the plots of both movies)

That's 2 fresh, 27 rotten. And only one of the fresh reviews seems genuinely enthusiastic, the other says it's a bad movie that is just about salvaged by Jim Sheridan's direction.

It is a wonder they bothered to release this movie. Cowboys and Aliens had some redeeming aspects, although I didn't find what I had hoped to ; Daniel Craig leading man missing in action since Casino Royale.

Is there any encouraging news on the Bond 23 front? I really do think it's too long to follow up Quantum with the same story and leading man. I am afraid even if the story is better crafted the audience will be turned off. In a winter of big names coming out to play I do not know how captivating James Bond still pining over his lost love six almost seven years after she was lost will be. The magic of Casino Royale was lost Quantumsaw to it, I try to re-watch Casino sadly I see more and more wrong with it. Thanks a lot Broccoli!

Ford negotiates his fees individually, as does Favreau, who got $10 million to direct, according to the Internet Movie Database, or IMDB.com. Lead actor Craig was paid $6 million, said the site.

Executive producer Spielberg, producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, director Jon Favreau and stars like Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig usually command a percentage of a film’s revenue, as well as a salary. In “Cowboys & Aliens,” made for $163 million, expenses must be recouped before such shares are paid, said three people with knowledge of the situation who declined to speak publicly because the agreements are private. In “Cowboys & Aliens,” the participants will be entitled to 50 percent of the film’s earnings if it breaks even, one of the people said.
