Much the same form the last interviewHarris: Bond needs a strong woman
Monday, 27 June 2011
James Bond's next love interest should possess both looks and intelligence, Naomie Harris has said.
The Pirates Of The Caribbean actress, who admitted she is in the running to star in the upcoming Bond 23 alongside Daniel Craig, has yet to sign up for the part - but would if the character is right.
"I've never played a beautiful vacuous woman. I don't think I'd be very good at it. So if that was the role, it wouldn't appeal," she said.
"But I just don't think Bond would be interested in a woman like that now. The new Bond has to be intellectually stimulated by whoever he's having his dalliances with.
"What makes Bond films work is that they're responsive to the times. Eva Green's character in Casino Royale was not scantily clad. She was an intelligent, strong, modern woman," The First Grader star Naomie continued.
"The older idea of the Bond movie is in the past. Now it appeals to all generations, ages and sexes."
:: The First Grader is in cinemas now.

Well, well she screen tested before. I would bet MGM/Sony are pouring over recent applicants trying to fill the casting void. Sadly she has also confirm there is no working script yet. Jesus! Are the wonder twins waiting for elves to make the shoes for them while they sleep! They have nothing done and are doing nothing. Might as well call Bond 23 "Hindenburg".

'Bond 23' will be very special, says Naomie Harris
Sunday, July 3 2011, 12:28pm EDT
By Daniel Sperling, Entertainment Reporter
Naomie Harris has predicted that the next James Bond film will be "very special".
The First Grader actress confirmed to Digital Spy in June that she has auditioned for a part in the forthcoming 23rd installment of the spy franchise, which will be directed by Sam Mendes.
Regardless of whether she becomes the next Bond girl, Harris stated that she was looking forward to seeing the American Beauty mastermind's "brilliant ideas" for the series.
"It would be great to be part of Bond but nothing is confirmed yet," she told Empire. "Sam Mendes is an amazing director and a really, really lovely man as well.
"He's got brilliant ideas. From meeting them, I think it's going to be a very special Bond."
However, Harris admitted that her Bond knowledge was somewhat limited and identified A View To A Kill as her favorite entry based on the presence of legendary singer Grace Jones.
"Grace Jones did a Bond that I thought was really cool. She wasn't a Bond girl, though. She was more of a villain," she recalled.
Harris previously credited her 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle for igniting her career.
Bond 23, which will see Daniel Craig reprise the iconic role for a third time, is scheduled to open in the UK on October 26, 2012 and in the US two weeks later on November 9.

And this is as of yesterday? What the hell is the hold up? Surely the leading actress should have been announced by now, whether it's Harris or someone else.Goldeneye wrote:Regardless of whether she becomes the next Bond girl, Harris stated that she was looking forward to seeing the American Beauty mastermind's "brilliant ideas" for the series.

Baz Bamigboye Naomie Harris: The Next Moneypenney?
Last updated at 2:27 AM on 8th July 2011
Miss Moneypenny, 007’s tart-tongued, flirtatious foil, is returning to the James Bond movies in the shape of Naomie Harris.
The actress met with Sam Mendes, director of Bond 23, earlier this year and is now in the final stages of negotiations to play the long-running Bond girl — although, strictly speaking, Moneypenny isn’t a Bond girl at all; she’s the assistant to Bond’s boss, M.
Naomie made her name in Danny Boyle’s film 28 Days Later. Many will also know her from the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, but I think she did her best work in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, The First Grader (an enjoyable low-budget recent release) and Danny Boyle’s National Theatre production of Frankenstein, in which she played the leading lady opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.
The actress is poised to appear alongside Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes and Judi Dench when filming begins later this year.
The Moneypenny character, who holds the rank of Lieutenant RN, hasn’t been seen in a Bond picture since Samantha Bond played her in Die Another Day back in 2002, when she appeared with Pierce Brosnan.
Samantha appeared in four 007 thrillers, starting with GoldenEye. It’s widely thought she threw the best retort ever at James Bond. Having bedded his Scandinavian tutor, he tells Moneypenny: ‘I always enjoyed learning a new tongue.’ Moneypenny responds dryly: ‘You always were a cunning linguist, James.’
It’s too early to know whether Mendes will want Naomie to play Moneypenny in the same drier-than-a-shaken-martini vein, but she’s an astute actress who will be able to deliver her character any way he desires.
Lois Maxwell was the original (and still the most famous) Moneypenny, appearing in the first Bond picture Dr No in 1962. She retired following A View To A Kill in 1985.
Caroline Bliss played the part in The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill before making way for Ms Bond.
Barbara Bouchet played her in the 1967 Casino Royale, and Pamela Salem had a go in 1983’s Never Say Never Again.
Both of those movies were made outside of the Eon organisation, which controls the screen rights to Bond creator Ian Fleming’s works.
A spokeswoman for Eon said that Naomie had met with producers but stressed it had not been confirmed she would be in the film.

So now Moneypenny will be this actress? She will NEVER work with a future Cavill and I am fed up with Eon trying to reinvent this franchise.

I doubt this choice of casting for Moneypenny will work with any actor playing Bond, not just Craig or Cavill. Bad choice by EON, if this is true.bjmdds wrote:So now Moneypenny will be this actress? She will NEVER work with a future Cavill and I am fed up with Eon trying to reinvent this franchise.

Bear in mind that Baz Bamigboye is not a reliable source. I'm not saying he's wrong all the time, but he's been wrong often enough for me not to trust him. I'd want to hear an official announcement. The Sweeney wrote:I doubt this choice of casting for Moneypenny will work with any actor playing Bond, not just Craig or Cavill. If you and I and the rest of us here know it, why doesn't Eon? It's obvious Brocolli wants to redefine and emasculate the world of James Bond. Ian Fleming would stone the 'green vegetable' if he was alive today with her shameless disregard of his masterpiece. The Sweeney wrote:I doubt this choice of casting for Moneypenny will work with any actor playing Bond, not just Craig or Cavill. I agree. I don't see her as a good Bond girl but for her to try to compete with Samantha Bond and Lois Maxwell she will not even place. The Sweeney wrote:I doubt this choice of casting for Moneypenny will work with any actor playing Bond, not just Craig or Cavill. Zoe Saldana would be my dream of Moneypenny if they want to cast a young black woman.

I'd rather they bring back MP when they bring back Bond

Something tells me Babs has scant regard for honouring the Fleming books. If Bond 23 offers more of the same that we suffered with QoS, then EON should call it a day.
Maybe its time for new producers to take over the Bond ship.

We need some Bond producers who will keep things simple rather than trying to be radical all the time.

I'd rather see Zoe as the Bond girl. Way hotter than Harris, IMO.Omega wrote:Zoe Saldana would be my dream of Moneypenny if they want to cast a young black woman.

Ain't that the truth! That's what's screwed up the Bond franchise-it's been that way for a while and doesn't look like ending anytime soon.

Re: Naomie Harris: The Next Bond Girl?
We are FINALLY on the same page Sweeney! You also forgot a female M since 1995, when Cubby was ailing and his green vegetable daughter went feminista on Bond, talk of homosexuality in a Bond film, and the drag queen Bond PSA this year! It has nothing whatsoever to do with race preferences, being anti-female, etc. It is all about Fleming's interpretation of HIS book franchise and the rotten vegetable in charge is trying to reinvent it and prove her artistic worth in Hollywood. It's all over folks, unless they reboot Eon!The Sweeney wrote:A blonde Bond, a black Felix Leiter and now a black Moneypenny.Omega wrote:I agree.
