Celine Dion's New Show to Feature Bond Themes, Covers of Journey, Janis Ian, Michael Jackson
Celine Dion's new show, called Celine, debuts Tuesday, March 15th, at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. What can fans expect to see? USA Today reports that, in addition to her own hits, the show will feature Celine performing a medley of James Bond movie themes, including Shirley Bassey's "Goldfinger" and "Diamonds Are Forever."
In addition, Celine will cover Journey's "Open Arms," Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" and Janis Ian's "At Seventeen." She'll also perform a French number -- Jacques Brel's "Ne Me Quitte Pas," which means "Don't Leave Me." As previously reported, Billy Joel's "Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel)" is also on the program.
Celine will run for about 70 dates per year -- half the number of shows of her first production, A New Day -- and except for the first few weeks, will be timed to coincide with breaks in her son Rene-Charles' school schedule.

Oh gawd, sounds like she's putting herself out there to do a Bond theme in the future. As if that Titanic thing wasn't bad enough.

Much as I respect her talent, just NO for a Bond theme song. No, NO and HELL to the no. I want much more modern and catchy stuff. She is WAY too classic to do a theme for an action movie in any convincing way. Ugh, Babs is going to be all over her, in no time.

I have to admit she'd not be on my list of singers. Unless they wanted a really smalchy romantic ballad, and she has the worst posture of anyone I ever seen. On one of her tv concerts standing at the front of the stage she really looked to have a humped back and her pelvis was sticking out to one side.Very odd.

Ah, I like Shania! I prefer Faith Hill, especially when she sings with her husband, but I like Shania, too. I'd rather have her do a Bond song than Celine Dion honestly. At least she isn't so predictable and she has an edge. (this is pure theory, not my favorite choice obviously! I stick with Maroon 5 for Cavill's Bond. Or that new awesome singer, Adele.)bjmdds wrote:bjmdds » Sat Mar 19, 2011 4:06 am

From the First time I heard Adele, I thought she'd do a Great Bond Theme song.

Celine singing 007...could work,if the song itself is strong enough, but she wouldn't be my first or even fourth choice if I were a producer...she did do a good job with 'Beauty And The Beast' tho.
