Yeah, if anything, we're too lenient here. It took ages for Nash to get himself banned, after repeatedly posting insults and accusing people who objected of lacking a sense of humour. But better that than banning people just for liking Craig. I'd hate to see this site turned into MI6/CBn in reverse, rigidly enforcing the party line.katied wrote:oscartheman wrote:Are you trying to say here?Stock had a fit because he has a problem with Katied he could go on for months making his point and I doubt he'd be muzzled or forced to leave.Charles Vine wrote:Well, it appears now that another Bond forum is muzzling discussion on Craig as Bond in Drag.

I think katie was banned and unbanned about 17 times! I'd love Stockslivian to post again and hope he pops in again when there is some more news.Kristatos wrote:Yeah, if anything, we're too lenient here. I don't want Stocks banned. I just want to make sure he knows that personal attacks are not OK.
As for Nash..Yes, you WERE too lenient with him.
True, I have been banned and unbanned, but at least after a year or so ago, I am behaving myself. Which is more than can be said of Nash.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Actually I think it's just a problem of server on the deadline site. I know now that my comment is up because Shaken reported it in his post (and I posted with my name, Alessandra). But after I put it up it disappeared for hours. The fact it's now there (and I never re-posted it) suggests nobody deleted anything but rather that they must be having a server problem. Wait a while, your comment will be up, don't worry. So no, EON isn't doing anything. Besides they were so blunt to put the whole deadline crew as author for the article, which means they clearly felt strongly about slamming down the stunt video. And Nikki Finke, as usual, is the only one knowing things and has been the only one reporting what MGM has actually been up to (with the distributors deal, etc). As I explained, this is the go-to news site for all of Hollywood as it is by far the best-informed and more reliable one, so stay assured Babs has been hit hard by the fact such a source totally slammed down her (stupid) idea.katied wrote:The fact that comments are disappearing elsewhere-not just the EON shill places-makes me wonder what is going on.Surely Queen Babs doesn't have that much power(after her bond in drag stunt,I wouldn't think she did!)
I think the vast majority here don't believe Craig needs to be ruined, since after the horror that QoS was, and the fact the studio booked a loss with it, the work has been done already.Ah, figured you guys would be lapping over the PSA.Thought I'd check in.
My thoughts? I get the approach and I admire it to an extent. Bond being put in the position of an oppressed female. It's a good concept. But I think literally putting him in a drag is too much just for causing a stir.Instead of getting the message across the Bond-in-drag image is distracting. More thought should have been put to this.
I applaud EON and Craig for supporting a cause, but the way they do it simply won't sit well with hardcore Bond fans.
Do I think this will ruin the rest of Craig's tenure? I don't think it will as this isn't likely to happen in the actual films because it's those that matter the most, not two minute promos. Time will tell I suppose.
I know many here believe and hope it will ruin Craig. Afterall, it is DCINB.

This stupid drag video is a blow to James Bond, not to Daniel Craig (who after all has never portrayed James Bond, but just a random gym-inflated building-jumping action dude). And I think most here said this is Barbara Broccoli's fault (which it is), not Craig's. Craig is a simpleton for having taken part to this without demanding a change in the approach, but the same can be said about Dame Judi. Other than that, I don't think he's much at fault. He's just a terribly miscast actor in a role. I don't particularly like him in other roles either, not even in Layer Cake that everyone praises to the high heavens. I think he's a very bland type of actor, but that's just the way he is and he cannot be held responsible for it. The responsibility here is Broccoli's, who was an idiot with her idea to cast him and even more so with the HORRIFIC non-Bond movies she produced starring Craig. Then of course it can be argued that Craig keeps saying Bond is beneath him and that he's never done research or, even less so, has done anything to actually get in the role and play Bond as Bond is supposed to be, but I still think the main responsibility is Broccoli's (and Foster's for QoS). With the ridiculously bad script and direction they had in QoS, there's no way anyone else could have saved it. The fact Craig is miscast in the role made matters worse, but again, he's just an actor.
The rest of Craig's tenure amounts to one movie most likely, Bond 23, so I don't think this will influence the movie (it better not!

I wouldn't have cared much if that drag idea was played as a humorous moment and then the REAL Bond surfaced to give an actual message of equality amongst men and women, but that's not the case in the video.
As far as Sir Sean in drag, that's not James Bond at all. He can do no matter what when he isn't playing James Bond. Anyhow he doesn't look like a woman in those stills, it's clear he is a man in a woman's dress. The comments here were referred to the fact previous actors would never have done Bond in drag. And I think Babs is very well-aware of it. Thing is, Daniel Craig is, ahem, her bitch. The others weren't, at all. And they actually knew what Bond was about. So now that she knows she has a puppet she can maneuver the way she pleases, she just does no matter what with the Bond character, and she doesn't waste any chance she gets to trash it. It's pretty pathetic, but that's the situation.
In all this... I'm pretty sure quite a few people at MGM are laughing

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I think Craig does just fine in terms of independence when Bond is not concerned. The problem is that given the reason why he got Bond's role and the reason why he was even tested for the role in the first place (sole reason was Babs's obsession with him) now he clearly is completely at her mercy. And that's never good in any situation, and especially NOT when work is concerned. I don't think he's so stupid as to think that drag idea was a good one, so this is the only valid explanation I can find. Otherwise I'd have to think he's far less intelligent than I always believed. Which I don't think is the case. He's not stupid. He knew Bond was the only chance he would ever get to make lots of money with movies (and no don't come to me with the "he was doing well in the UK!!" party line, because those are BREADCRUMBS compared to what he makes now. not to mention nobody on the planet outside the UK knew who the hell he was before Bond). So he took Bond even though he considers it "beneath him", because he knew it was his one and only chance to actually become known and to actually make lots of money (and be offered more roles). I really don't think the guy is a fool, but sometimes making this sort of "compromise" becomes a double-edged sword when situations like this ridiculous ad present themselves.
This said, what I'm awaiting is MGM's reaction. They haven't uttered A PEEP to promote or even defend what Babs did, which I find extremely interesting.
ETA: Bond 77 thank you for the congratulations to Carey Lowell rank

There should be NO locked threads anywhere Charley. If people want to post opinions, let them. If you do not want to participate, don't. The root problem, as I see it, is this: Anti-Cr-egg posters go after Eon and Cr-egg, not other posters; Pro-Cr-egg posters go after anti-Cr-egg posters. That's the difference. No one here attacks thoughtful dissent and we do not get worked up over those who love Cr-egg. Who cares? But the ONLY modus operandi of the Eon Shill Gang is to attack anti-Cregg posters and lock threads or not permit posts by those who are against their inane drone as Bond.Charles Vine wrote:Well, it appears now that another Bond forum is muzzling discussion on Craig as Bond in Drag.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Ale Bouvier, you probably heard it from where you are (Italy, right?), the sound of everyone in the entire continent of North America simultaneously saying "who?" when it was announced that Pierce Brosnan was being replaced with Daniel Craig. Followed by "huh?" when his picture was posted in news reports. You make a great point.Alessandra wrote: He knew Bond was the only chance he would ever get to make lots of money with movies (and no don't come to me with the "he was doing well in the UK!!" party line, because those are BREADCRUMBS compared to what he makes now. not to mention nobody on the planet outside the UK knew who the hell he was before Bond).
Well that's alright. I have a hard time keeping track of all the posts as well with all the Danielle Craig PSA comments, transcripts posted from other forums, etc. Anyway, "Pam Bouvier", what a wonderful rank to earn! Speaking of which, I am glad to report BJ that I have been able to make several posts at CommanderPravda.net. I made comments regarding Craig and his PSA, Craig as Bond, and his Bond films. It did make people upset, not my intention, but nevertheless that was the result. It would be hard to post all the transcripts here in this forum, but like I said in a earlier post, it shouldn't be too hard to guess which one is me if you (or anyone else) want to take a look.bjmdds wrote:There should be NO locked threads anywhere Charley.
