The best ending
Similarly to the pts thread I'm starting discussion about the endings - another characteristic and indispensable elements of every Bond film. Which of them was the best?
Here's my list:
1. TSWLM ("Keeping the British end up, sir.")
2. TMWTGG (slow boat to China)
3. LALD (Baron Samedi's laughter)
4. OHMSS (I don't like the film much but the death of Tracy was really moving scene)
5. OP ("James!" - nobody can scream it like Maud Adams)

- "Do I look like I give a d**n?"
- You don't. And that's the main problem.

I can't really do a top 5 at the moment as every time I try, I end up changing my mind.
I like the ending to MR (highly amusing and typical Moore) and FYEO (Although cheesey). CR's ending with Mr White was also up there for me.

“I'd like to thank the Royal Marines for bringing me in like that and scaring the s--- out of me,” Bond Hardman Daniel Craig.

the ending of CR was lame because they went for 3 endings like LOTR Return of the king -if it had been a built up to one ending it might have been ok. -still he said the line too late -it could have been a question -Bond, James Bond?-and DC wasn't JB in the last frame

if CR's ending hadnt gone up and down 3 times -like lotr- IMO it would have a better ending.

I liked the end of LicenceTo Kill.
I can see why the end of Casino Royale would be popular if you bought into the CraigissavioroftheJamesBondfilmseries myth which has been built up. I didn't like Craig's interpretaion of Bond in CR, and therefore enjoyed the end as it meant it was the end of the film and I could stop watching....

I have to go with Thunderball, because that ending says a lot about why James Bond is so special. Of course, today it would spark an online discussion about why they should've employed a more realistic method of retrieval.
Runners-up:
The Spy Who Loved Me
Pretty much the quintessential ending for a Bond film. It didn't establish the blueprint, but it did refine it. (So much so that it was recycled five more times.) There are certain things everyone knows about a James Bond film, and the ending where he gets laid is one of them. On a side note, I have always loved the fact that Roger Moore explains, "They're never going to know," even as they float into harm's way.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Whenever it airs, I have to see two things: Tracy skating up in time with the music, as well as her death. If I miss either, I'm going to be upset. Unfortunately, a cable network will always trim the most crucial part of the ending- those final notes that play over the image of the broken windshield.

Hope you're a patient person Dom.Capt. Sir Dominic Flandry wrote:Hopefully when Craig leaves they will have a normal actor playing Bond and another fun ending like this.Poirot wrote:The Spy Who Loved Me....Pretty much the quintessential ending for a Bond film.
But why can't Craig have a great ending???
Oh wait he already has. CR was a great ending for a Bond film. One of the best in my book. Right up there with the likes of OHMSS, TSWLM and TB.
