Here 'BJ', not much difference in Europe...........they have conveyor belts at airports, but the baggage handlers usually give your suitcase a good kicking before putting them on! :o

EA

LMAO not much difference anywhere, do you think they treat your luggage well in the US? In any airport the luggage is kicked and literally THROWN onto the conveyor belts.. I travel a lot so I've seen quite a few of the treatments

The Caribbean airports are ZE WORST. The only decent one I've been at was the Cancun one, but that's Mexico and quite a big airport so obviously things go accordingly. Ever tried La Havana? LOL That had to be one of the most surreal experiences I've had. Loved Cuba, it was lots of fun. But the great sea is elsewhere in the Caribbean. But as far as never getting your luggage, NOTHING beats Italy's Malpensa (Milan). They SUCK. Also depends on the company you fly with.. if you fly British Airways, you have a 90% guarantee of your luggage being late, on the wrong conveyor belt, or sent to Timbuctu instead of wherever one is going. They're notorious for luggage issues (but the planes are VERY comfy!). By far best one I've travelled with is Swiss Air.

LOL Katie you shouldn't have a problem finding a Mango tree in the Caribbean. Sigh, I need a Caribbean beach, a mojito or a pina colada and a lot of tan and sunshine!

BJ, I LOOOVE The Beatles! And, who is the character you mentioned? A former poster?

The cruise is next month-March 19th for 7 days. I want to do the Western Carribean cruise at some point*-my cousin took a shortened version of that cruise out of New Orleans. There are also cruises out of Galveston, but that place is so depressing(destroyed by hurricanes, and there's been no effort to nicen it up, really)

*I doubt I'd get to go to Mexico, since all the cruise lines have decided it's too dangerous to go to Mexico anymore. and are not going to be sailing to anywhere in Mexico soon. Which is a shame. We went on a cruise 3 years ago to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta and had a *great* time.

I've never been on a cruise holiday, and have always wondered what they were like!

Lucky for 'katied' that she is going on one soon.

In the UK, most people like to go to the Med for their hols in the summer to places like Spain, Italy and Greece...............and in the winter months to the Canary islands in the Atlantic.

What i want to know is where do the majority of our North American friends here go to for their summer hols?

'BJ' have you ever met any of the 'Bonds'?

I spoke to Tanya Roberts and Caroline Munro at past shows. Lazenby was there once but I could not make it to that convention. Richard Kiel shows up occasionally too as was the actress who opened LALD in the closet and uttered "FINALMENTE". When I said "that" to her, she had to think twice what I meant, and once she realized it, she laughed.

I stopped going anywhere in the summer because my last 3 summer trips to the Atlantis Paradise Island, Club Med Cancun, and Puerto Rico, were all during the summer and the heat was too much. Now, I try to get away during the colder months except not this year and look at what happened! :cuss:

Puerto Rico(and indeed all of the Carribean) is a hurricane zone. That should be taken into account when planning a trip there. Hurricane season is June-November. Seems like the smartest time to go would be January-April.

The Atlantis resort always looks *very* appealing to me.

My only real frame of reference on Puerto Rico(and you'll appreciate this!) is West Side Story!

Lol Southern Europeans (here) go to the Caribbean doing the cold months... or to the Red Sea for a cheaper option (yeah sadly not right now with what's going on in Egypt). Kenya is also another popular (and beautiful) location for the cold months. In the summer, well we have it all here

I love the Hamptons in NYC... I have been quite a few times, I have friends with very nice houses there and it's lots of fun, and the perfect escape during summer in NYC. And LA, well just drive 15 minutes from West Hollywood and you're at Santa Monica, needless to say. California has beautiful beaches, just a matter of finding the right spot

I love St Barth too in the Caribbean so if you have a chance Katie, just go. Though the place that is by far most interesting and beautiful in terms of sea and coral barrier in my opinion is Roatan. It's in Belize/Honduras. It's not the easiest to reach and thankfully when I was there it was still VERY undeveloped in terms of tourism (still is way less touristy than other places in the Caribbean). It's got the 2nd-biggest aquatic park worldwide. I literally WALKED from the beach of the little resort I was at, in five minutes, in the warm and crystal clear water, to the coral barrier. There was a hummingbird that came by the trees around the pool every day... the smells and nature I've seen there compare to nothing else, really.

I'm probably a bit biased since I've lived here my entire life but California is paradise. Yes, we have earthquakes, but we also have pretty much nice weather year round, with an occasional rainy day or cold snap.

Earthquake is extremely unpleasant and one of the most frightening things I've experienced in my life, BUT California really is paradise weather-wise.

In other news, BBC America made this really funny congrats video for Henry Cavill. I can't stop laughing! "No one wears tights like you do". d**n STRAIGHT!

That's pretty bad.But IMO this year has been worse. My nephew goes to Catholic school-they live in Oklahoma City- and they won't cancel school unless the weather is really bad.The public schools will cancel school at the drop of a hat, though.

Hi, i dont know much about California, except the climate is generally very good!

But, you are at the mercy of some horrendous situations such as Earthquakes.

Hopefully you live in an area that is unlikely to be hit by such a disaster.

In the UK, we may get less sunshine and heat as in other places around the world...........but at least we know that our houses are not going to fall down one day due to Earthquakes, Tornado's and Hurricanes.

Welcome Sweeney home next week Arthur. He can help to stimulate the economy. With this Egypt mess spreading to other countries in that region, democracy may actually lead to new leaders who are even more trouble to deal with. Maybe Quantum's involvement will be written into the script of such a premise for Bond 23.

'BJ'

I read today on another Bond site :), about Mendes trying to get Ralph Fiennes also to star in Bond 23..

I know u wont like Bond films, until a new lead actor is found, but what do you think to the possible new direction the franchise could take, as from a paragraph of a report i copied:-

‘It’s the first of a new generation of Bond films, and the ideas Mendes has push the film into darker territory where the characters are modern, mature and challenging,’ a film executive in Los Angeles connected to the production told the paper.

I dont mind Bond going in another direction, as long as its acceptable to the world wide Bond fan base, and also that it includes Bond elements from the past that we love and associate with the franchise.....which QOS didn't!

Whenever these directors state that stuff you can forget it. What their liberal brains think is not what a traditional Bond fan like me wants. I do NOT need a new direction which veers further off course than the last 2 did with the actor and scripts and directors. BACK TO THE FUTURE is what I want and with a PROVEN action director with NO political agenda for the film at all. MODERN,MATURE, AND CHALLENGING usually equates to sexual and violent viewing with these moronic directors. Enough Ale, Cavill awaits and the sooner the better!
