Great taste Ale....two of your favourite movies reside in my all-time top 10 - Top Gun and 3 Days of the Condor......
And yes, I did go through a phase of trying to mimic the Cruiser's look back in 1986, I think most teenagers did.

I too have seen Top Gun over 50 times. Goose never should have died in the film, injured, but not die. He should have shown up on the aircraft carrier just as Maverick was about to board the plane. That would have been more inspirational than what was done. The weather here in NYC is brutal and we are fed up with so far 55 inches of snow with 33 inches this month alone! New Delhi weather seems like a paradise here Sweeney right now.

I always say that!!! Of course most teens mimicked the Cruiser's look back then. In fact my first boyfriend had the same jacket and the Ray Ban aviators! Hahahah :D

There are two things I always quote from Top Gun. One is the above-mentioned one, and the other one is "My ass is dragging like an old tired dog", plus the occasional "They were abused children". I know too many quotes from it!

And, while not exactly classy, this bit of dialogue always sticks:

"Goose, you're such a ****head, whose butt did you have to kiss to get in here?"
"Well, the list is long but distinguished"
"Yeah well, so is my johnson".

It's CRASS, and I realise especially for a girl, to quote that, but I just laugh out loud everytime I think about it and/or watch the scene.

One of the things that shocked me the most re watching Top Gun recently was that, totally unbeknown to me when I was a teen, ADRIAN PASDAR IS IN IT! He's SO d**n young in it. And I love him, I thought he was awesome in Heroes. He really aged well, looks much hotter now than he did on Top Gun! Val Kilmer, on the other hand ...

Three Days of the Condor and Top Gun are definitely in my top 10, too. But my favourite remains Sabrina (the original with Audrey Hepburn). That is perfection in a movie for me. I love Billy Wilder... too much for words!

Who knew we had a Top Gun club here? Awesome! I agree they overdid it with Goose dying. d**n, I cried the first ten times LOL It's true, would have been more inspirational to just have him show up on the aircraft carrier as Maverick was boarding it. They could have had him in a coma or something. And then being ok. Dying was too much.

OMG the weather sounds HORRIFIC. Is it still snowing?

Top Gun has to be one of the greatest soundtracks ever. If only Faltermeyer would release the instrumental versions too.

BJ, looks like you guys are getting all the snow we had back in the UK over Christmas....

You seem to of had a hell of a lot of snow in parts of the US.
In the UK at the moment its just a normal winter, but before xmas, the temperatures really plummeted for a few weeks, with quite a bit of snow.
I think it was the coldest spell here for decades (felt like being in the film 'The Day after Tomorrow'). 8)

Roll on the summer..........so i can go back to the Mediterranean for holiday. :)

Was going to post last night, but i couldn't get a word in edgeways what with all that talk about fashion. :D

Difficult to tell, as if i've just read what you've read the report just said Dench was tight lipped about the project, and said she couldn't say anything about it...............which in all honesty is the usual thing people say at this stage.
If any actor or production staff, does give away any info at an early stage, before any official announcement from the studio, then Babs would probably hit them with a broom.

I expect we will get some official announcement on Bond 23, regarding the title of the film and major cast members sometime around the middle of this year, at the earliest (hopefully!)

Cool. Which house was that? Kelly McGillis's home in the movie?

The house Viper was at or the house Kelly McGillis was at? Speaking of, of ALL people they could have picked, they went with Kelly McGillis? I always protested about that, ever since seeing the movie the first time. She just wasn't up to task. Not attractive enough considering how d**n attractive all the guys were, and WAY too old for the part. I understand she had to look like a superior but with all the choices? Ahem, hello Michelle Pfeiffer just to mention one. She is only one year younger than McGillis but looks TEN years younger and most of all WAY hotter! Also a far better actress.

Oh no about the restaurant! Did they rebuild it?

There is a 20 foot high mountain of snow across the street from me that the sanitation department keeps piling on to. If this weather keeps up it will take months to melt. :x

I can see where some might think this. In the video she pauses for too long, looked as if she was going to answer a negative then caught herself. She probably doesn't get a copy of the script until she shows up. They tell her when they think they need her either she agrees or reschedules. Although in the past she has been a little chatter box about the going ons.

They don't have a script, not yet, ideas, outlines, yes, maybe even rough treatments, but not a working script. Anyway non of this matter until the summer that is when production has to start and budgets have to be finalized. If they get past this point with a functioning script in tow they might just make the 2012. All that has actually happened is a PR event. They had to after Variety came out with Bond is still Dead story seemingly by mistake weeks earlier. There is a rumor MGM want to finance the Bond 23 alone, no partner and no smaller slice of the pie, it doesn't seem possible at this point.

'Kris' nice map, its unfortunate that most of us here live in the BLUE areas.

Looking at that map, got to me thinking about future Bond locations around the world.
Well over the decades the stories have been set or filmed in many areas of Asia, Europe and North and South America.

I know a few minor scenes have been set in Africa, but how about a Bond story solely set there in that continent............or what about Canada.

Personally i think Australia could be a good place for a Bond story to be set.

What would some people here think would be a good location?

Hello all. Not sure if you have a new members area here, but this seems to be the most popular area of the forum.
Longtime Bond fan. Seen all of the movies countless times. Bond has lost his way of late. I don't think that it is entirely the blame of Daniel Craig. Though had an actor such as Hugh Jackman taken the role or Clive Owen, I think the public demand for these movies would've been so great that the lengthy gaps we have now would be much shorter.
Alternatively had the producers decided to follow the 'reboot' (which wasn't' needed. Pierce had one more Bond film in him) in a better fashion then Henry Cavill would have been perfect as a 'rookie' James Bond. The audience could relate to a younger actor, with typical Bondian looks to the much older and controversial casting of Daniel Craig.
I must say though that whilst Craig is a decent actor, and I did enjoy Casino Royale, there is still alot about the film that is overrated and sometimes quite bad, I'm do not blame Mr.Craig for the current situation. He's a passable Bond, maybe not your typical looking Bond, but I look at it as an experimental casting choice.
Sadly Quantum of Boredom was a terrible follow up to his first film. Art house and James Bond are a strange mix.
But the biggest problem in my mind is not the casting of Daniel Craig. But the producers lack of vision. The poor writing and story development, and the long gaps we as fans have to endure because they can't get it right.
Luckily I can always return to Doctor No, From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me, The Living Daylights, GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies for all out entertainment.
Look forward to getting to know you all.
